Chapter 10 10 Jack Wells

Chapter 10 10. Jack Wells

The Wild Wolf Bar in the Haywood Valley area is not difficult to find. After all, in a place where judicial buildings such as City Hall, the Mayor's Office, the Court and the NCPD Headquarters are everywhere, a bar that is completely out of place with the previous buildings is too conspicuous.

After parking the car on the side of the road, Oliver hesitated whether to put on the bulletproof vest he bought after dividing the money yesterday. He had lived in a neighborhood governed by the Sixth Street Gang since he was a child, and was a "former" member of the Sixth Street Gang. Although it was said that there were many people in the Sixth Street Gang who had a good relationship with the Valentino Gang in secret, he was actually still a little scared in his heart.

Who knows if the Valentino gang members gathered in this bar will want to kill him just because of his former Sixth Street Gang identity.

While Oliver was hesitating, Carl had already swiftly put on his bulletproof vest over his clothes.

After putting on the clothes, Carl looked at Oliver with a bit of surprise: "What are you hesitating about? We are going to find an employer later. If I were a mercenary who is ready to go on a mission without even basic protective prosthesis and bulletproof vest, I would definitely think that I am an idiot."

indeed.

Oliver then realized that he was still influenced by his past gang thinking. When he was a civilian or gang member in the Santo Domingo district, there was no need to be so vigilant and on guard all day long because the entire territory belonged to their Six Street Gang. But now he is an unemployed mercenary. Mercenaries cannot show their strength by showing off their good equipment, but rely on their looks to attract employers to work for them.

They are not some famous legendary mercenaries, the kind of mercenaries who can kill their way in and out of the crowd by wearing a shirt, holding a pistol in one hand and another "pistol" in the other hand. Those people come to them for the mission instead of them looking for the mission, so naturally they don't need to dress so cautiously or look as handsome as they can. Since they can't do that, they naturally just dress in the most threatening way possible.

He also put on a bulletproof vest and a coat. Oliver put his Nova revolver in the holster and imitated what he saw in the movies by not fastening the holster. This way, he could pull out the gun instantly and expose the grip of the gun so that others could recognize what kind of gun it was.

"A real man's Nova, it's very powerful."

Not knowing that his partner would have so many thoughts about handling a gun, Carl simply put the Lexington into the holster, hesitated for a moment, and still did not take the Copperhead assault rifle in the trunk.

It's just a bar, so bringing a pistol is enough. Bringing an assault rifle in would seem like an attempt to challenge the club.

After completing their preparations, the two newcomers to the mercenary world entered the Wild Wolf Bar under the curious gazes of the street members of the Valentino Gang walking around the bar.

As soon as you enter the bar, you can obviously feel that the light inside is darker than outside. In the Wild Wolf Bar, there are no densely packed billboards like those on the streets outside. Instead, there are only fluorescent lights. If it weren't for the bright light at the bar and the groups of people drinking inside, when you first walked in, you would really wonder if this bar is closed during the day.

Standing at the bar was an old lady with white hair and wearing a leather jacket. Although she looked quite old, she seemed quite energetic. If you hadn't noticed her hair, it would have been hard to guess her age.

"Oh, two children I haven't met before."

Seeing Karl and Oliver walk in from outside the bar, the old woman greeted the two of them: "You're here a little early, but I welcome you all. What would you like to order?"

"Mrs. Wells - I want another bottle of blues vodka."

Before Carl and Oliver could speak, a guest at a table in the distance raised his hand and asked for another bottle of wine.

"No, Ernesto, you've already had a bottle today and you have things to do tonight, so go sober up."

"Why is that? I was planning on having a drink with Jack later when he gets home."

"Neither can Jack."

When the old lady called Mrs. Wells was talking to the man who was obviously a member of the Valentino Gang from his clothes, Carl heard a very familiar name.

Jack?

Could it be that Jack, Jack Wells?
If it was that Jack, Carl would be quite familiar with him. In the demo, Jack was V's good brother and teammate.

It's probably just a coincidence. Jack is a very common name.

As they thought this, Mrs. Wells turned back to look at them: "So, what would you like to drink, kids?"

"I'll have a bottle of Brotherly Lager."

Oliver immediately chose a drink with a low alcohol content that would not affect his ability to take on the mission.

"Okay, a bottle of lager. What about you?"

Being stared at by the old lady with a kind tone, Karl thought for a moment, glanced at the menu on the bar, and chose a drink that appeared to have Chinese characters on it.

"I'll have a sweet tea and some French fries."

"Then just find a seat and sit for a while. I'll take it to you in a moment."

Mrs. Wells nodded, turned around and began to search the bar cabinet, while Oliver pulled Carl to the side where he could see people coming at the door.

"You only drink non-alcoholic drinks when you come to the bar, and you also order French fries. I wish I could be like you."

Oliver prefers drinks to beer, but he thinks it's not good to come to the bar without ordering some wine. Carl, on the other hand, doesn't care about that at all.

"Then I can give you some fries later."

"Okay, I'll eat yours first, and then I'll order some more after you finish. I like French fries the most."

"I'm more curious about what the fries are made of."

As long as it’s not a bug, it’s fine.

While waiting, the two men observed the people in the bar and found that most of them were drinkers. A very small number of them were mercenaries who had ordered something like them and were waiting. They had weapons hanging around their waists and wore bulletproof vests or prosthetic subdermal armor.

Well, at least what Oliver's father said was true that one could find a job in this place. There were indeed a bunch of mercenaries waiting for work, but they all looked like low-level mercenaries like them, without even a middleman.

Oliver lowered his voice and said, "To be honest, the middleman industry is basically the same as mercenaries. There are the most powerful middlemen who can interfere in the affairs of the company, and there are also those who are only tasked with dealing with small fry and neighborhood feuds. But it is also miserable for mercenaries who don't even have the cooperation of the lowest-level middlemen."

When this guy spoke, he was completely unaware that he and Carl were now also part of the miserable mercenaries he was talking about.

"Who knows."

While casually responding to Oliver's words, Carl's peripheral vision caught sight of a man walking into the door of the Wild Wolf Bar. After realizing that he looked familiar, he subconsciously looked over.

The person who walked in was a tall and strong man who blocked out the sunlight coming in from outside the bar. He had black braids and obvious signs of prosthetics on both sides of his cheeks. His leather jacket was open, revealing his chest full of tattoos. He looked like someone who was not someone he was going to mess with.

This person is
