Chapter 424 Taking the Initiative!
Chapter 424 Taking the Initiative!
"Very smoothly!" Franky replied without looking up. "This device utilizes the special energy of cola, combined with my super-technical improvements, it can definitely work in any environment!"
"With Coke?" Chopper asked in surprise.
“That’s right! Coke isn’t just my fuel, it’s the best energy source!” Franky said proudly.
Sanji was busy preparing food in the kitchen.
“I bought a lot of high-energy foods,” he reported, “and some special seasonings to keep the food fresh in harsh environments.”
Chopper was also organizing his medical supplies.
“I’ve prepared a variety of first-aid supplies, including antidotes, hemostatic agents, and some sedatives,” he said earnestly. “It should be enough to handle an emergency.”
Robin brought back some valuable information.
“I found some historical records about that sea area in the town library,” she said, showing some old books. “According to the records, there were accounts of ships mysteriously disappearing there as early as three hundred years ago.”
“Three hundred years ago?” Nami exclaimed in surprise. “Then this phenomenon has existed for a very long time.”
“Yes, and there’s an interesting discovery,” Robin continued. “Every few decades, the disappearances become particularly frequent, then there’s a period of calm.”
“It’s like something is periodically waking up,” Borsalino analyzed.
Brook also brought valuable information.
“I spoke with some local musicians, and they said there’s an old folk song that tells the story of that sea,” Brooke said, pulling out her violin. “Would you like to hear it?”
"Great!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly.
Brooke began playing a melodious yet slightly melancholic tune, while singing the lyrics in his unique voice:
"Deep within those silver-mist-shrouded seas lie the slumbering ships of the past, where red-eyed guardians restlessly search for lost treasures."
"A red-eyed guardian?" Zoro noticed the keyword. "It matches the red eyes the survivor mentioned."
"And the lyrics mention treasure." Nami's eyes lit up. "Maybe there really is something precious in that mysterious space."
“But it could also be a curse,” Chopper said worriedly.
Just as everyone was discussing the lyrics, Usopp excitedly ran up to the deck.
"Look everyone, my new invention!" he exclaimed proudly, showing off a strange device. "It's a 'Super Flare Launcher'!"
"What's it for?" Franky asked curiously.
“If we’re surrounded by dense fog, this device can fire powerful flares to illuminate our surroundings!” Usopp explained proudly. “And these flares have special chemical components that allow them to penetrate ordinary fog!”
"Great invention!" Nami exclaimed.
Zoro, meanwhile, was on the deck maintaining his sword.
“There might be fierce fighting tomorrow,” he said earnestly. “We must ensure our weapons are in optimal condition.”
After checking all the equipment on the Thousand Sunny, Nami reported to everyone:
"The ship is in good condition, has sufficient fuel, and all equipment is functioning properly. There will be no problem with tomorrow's voyage."
"Great!" Luffy exclaimed happily. "Then let's look forward to tomorrow's adventure!"
As night fell, the Straw Hat Pirates gathered on the deck to enjoy the sumptuous dinner prepared by Sanji. Although tomorrow held unknown dangers, everyone was in high spirits.
“Speaking of which,” Luffy said while eating meat, “cooperating with the Navy is quite interesting.”
"You're really something," Nami shook her head helplessly. "You always manage to stay optimistic no matter what."
"Because no matter what difficulties we encounter, we can overcome them together!" Luffy grinned. "Besides, this time we're going to rescue people, isn't that great!"
“Luffy’s right,” Sanji nodded in agreement. “Whether the enemy is the Marines or pirates, saving innocent lives is the most important thing.”
“And we have Borsalino as our guarantor.” Robin glanced at Borsalino, who was leisurely sipping his tea. “With him here, the Navy shouldn’t dare to play any tricks.”
"Don't put all the pressure on me," Borsalino said with a wry smile. "But don't worry, I'll keep my promise."
Just as everyone was enjoying this heartwarming moment, Franky came out of the studio.
"It's done!" He excitedly held up a gleaming device. "The Super Signal Transmitter is complete!"
Everyone gathered around to look at this amazing device. It was about the size of a Den Den Mushi (snail phone), covered in metal armor, and had a special antenna on top.
"What's the working principle of this device?" Robin asked curiously.
"It utilizes the unique molecular structure of cola, combined with my proprietary signal amplification technology!" Franky explained proudly. "It can send out a powerful signal even in the harshest environments!"
"Will it really work?" Nami asked, somewhat worried.
"Of course it works! My super technique never fails!" Franky patted his chest and assured him.
"That's good." Borsalino nodded. "Tomorrow we can safely enter that mysterious space."
As night deepened, everyone returned to their rooms to rest. However, many were unable to sleep, their hearts filled with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety about tomorrow's adventure.
Luffy lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, imagining what that mysterious space looked like.
"I can't wait to see those red-eyed guys," he muttered to himself. "It'll be so much fun!"
Nami, meanwhile, was studying the nautical charts, trying to find more clues about that area of the sea.
"I hope everything goes well tomorrow," she prayed silently.
Zoro was training late into the night on the deck, preparing for the upcoming battle.
"No matter what enemies we encounter, I will protect my comrades," he thought firmly.
Sanji was making final preparations in the kitchen.
"I hope the food I prepared will be helpful to everyone."
Chopper was checking the medical kit to make sure that no medicine was missing.
"We must protect everyone's health," he silently resolved.
Franky was making final adjustments in the studio.
"My amazing invention is sure to come in very handy!"
Usopp, meanwhile, was inspecting his various weapons and equipment in the room.
"This time, we must demonstrate the strength of our brave sea warriors!"
Brooke played music softly on the deck, and the beautiful melody echoed in the night sky.
"I hope the music brings everyone good luck."
Robin was reading through the historical materials he had collected during the day, trying to find more useful information.
"The truth of history is always hidden in the details." Borsalino leaned against the ship's railing, gazing at the starry sky and contemplating tomorrow's actions.
"I hope everything goes smoothly."
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, the Straw Hat Pirates began their busy preparations.
"Hurry up, everyone!" Nami urged. "We need to be at the port by eight o'clock sharp!"
"I'm ready!" Luffy said spiritedly.
Soon, everyone was ready. The Thousand Sunny slowly left its anchorage and headed towards the assembly point at the port.
Near the port, five naval warships were already lined up neatly. Judging from their size, this was indeed a fleet not to be underestimated.
"Wow! What huge warships!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly as he looked at the imposing warships.
Lieutenant Colonel Thomas stood on the deck of one of the warships and waved to the HMS Thousand Sunny.
"Arrived on time, truly a professional navigator." He praised Nami's time management skills.
"Thank you for the compliment!" Nami replied politely.
“Then let’s begin our final operational meeting,” Lieutenant Colonel Thomas proposed.
The six ships made a joint call using a Den Den Mushi (a type of telephone slang term for someone who communicates with others).
"Gentlemen, today's mission is extremely important," Lieutenant Colonel Thomas explained to everyone. "We are entering an unknown and dangerous area, and everyone must remain highly vigilant."
"The search area is divided into six sectors, with each ship responsible for one sector." He marked the detailed divisions on the map. "Send a signal immediately if any anomalies are detected."
"Have you all memorized the types and meanings of the signals?"
"A red signal flare indicates an emergency situation requiring immediate assistance."
"A green signal flare indicates a suspicious situation has been detected; other vessels should remain on alert."
"A blue signal flare indicates target detection; request assembly."
"Understood!" all the ships responded.
"So," Lieutenant Colonel Thomas confirmed finally, "does anyone have any further questions?"
“I have a question,” Borsalino began. “If some ships do enter that mysterious space, how will the other ships follow?”
“This is indeed a crucial issue,” Lieutenant Colonel Thomas thought for a moment. “My idea is that the ships entering the alternate dimension send a signal as soon as possible, and then other ships try to find a way in.”
“But according to the survivor’s description, the fog came suddenly, and ships were forcibly towed in,” Robin cautioned.
“Then perhaps we need to actively search for that dense fog,” Sanji suggested.
“That makes sense.” Lieutenant Colonel Thomas nodded. “If any ships spot the dense fog, immediately notify the other vessels, and then we'll enter together.”
"Isn't this too risky?" a naval officer asked worriedly.
"Rescue operations are inherently risky," Luffy shouted. "But we can't let fear stop us from rescuing people!"
“Captain Straw Hat is right,” Lieutenant Colonel Thomas agreed. “This mission is of great significance, and we must take the corresponding risks.”
After final discussions, the six ships finalized a detailed action plan and then set off for the target area.
On the sea, six ships maintained a suitable distance, spreading out in a fan shape to search. The Thousand Sunny sailed in the center of the formation, surrounded by five imposing naval warships.
"It feels really strange," Nami said, looking at the surrounding warships. "We're actually operating alongside the Navy."
“It’s certainly peculiar,” Zoro remarked. “But if it’s for saving lives, this kind of cooperation isn’t bad.”
After sailing for about two hours, they reached the edge of their target area. The seawater here was a darker color than elsewhere, and strange eddies occasionally appeared on the surface.
"Attention everyone!" Lieutenant Colonel Thomas warned all ships via Den Den Mushi. "We have entered dangerous waters. Remain on high alert!"
"Received!" all the ships responded.
Just as Luffy finished speaking, an unusual silvery-white mist began to appear on the distant horizon. At first, it was just a small wisp, but it quickly began to spread in all directions.
"What is that?" Nami immediately noticed the unusual situation.
"Dense fog!" Borsalino squinted, observing closely. "Exactly as described!"
"That's it!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly, pointing to the spreading mist. "We found it!"
The fog was moving faster than expected and was clearly drifting towards them. Its silvery light shimmered in the sunlight, creating a scene that was both beautiful and eerie.
"Everyone, get ready!" Zoro immediately went into battle stance. "This thing looks really strange!"
"Usopp! Fire the signal flare!" Nami shouted.
"Roger that!" Usopp immediately pulled out his flare gun. "Fire the blue flare!"
A blue signal flare rose into the sky, exploding in mid-air to create a striking blue firework. This was their agreed-upon signal to "detect the target."
At the same time, Nami also contacted other ships via Den Den Mushi.
"Attention! The Thousand Sunny has spotted a target!" she reported quickly. "A huge fog has appeared to our southeast and is rapidly approaching!"
"Roger that! We're on our way right away!" Lieutenant Colonel Thomas's voice came through the Den Den Mushi.
"All warships, move towards the Thousand Sunny!"
The five naval vessels immediately changed course and sped towards the location of the Thousand Sunny. However, the dense fog was spreading far too quickly.
"Not good!" Franky observed the fog's movement speed. "At this rate, we'll be surrounded by fog before the other ships arrive!"
"Let's go in and take a look!" Luffy said without hesitation. "Anyway, we have a signal device!"
"Wait!" Nami quickly stopped her. "The plan is to travel with other ships!"
But just as they were arguing, the situation changed. The Thousand Sunny suddenly felt a powerful pull, and the ship began to move uncontrollably toward the thick fog.
"What's going on?" Sanji asked in surprise. "Why is the ship moving by itself?"
“Just like that survivor said!” Borsalino realized the danger. “This dense fog will forcibly tow the ships!”
"Frankie! Can you control the ship?" Nami asked anxiously.
"I'll give it a try!" Franky immediately rushed to the control room. "Full engine speed! Reverse thrust!"
The Thousand Sunny's propellers roared loudly, but the ship continued its irresistible march into the thick fog.
"It's no use!" Franky reported loudly. "This force is too strong! We can't resist it!"
"Let's just let things take their course!" Luffy exclaimed, suddenly excited. "Since we can't escape, let's take the initiative and attack!"
