Crusade against the Pope

Chapter 106: There are many crowns in the world

Chapter 106: There are many crowns in the world
There are many kinds of crowns in the world, including crowns, tiaras, small crowns...

Most crowns are inlaid with jewels and are gorgeous and beautiful. They symbolize power and status, declare the wearer's nobility and make them stand out from the crowd.

But there was one crown that was different. It was not made of gold, nor did it sparkle with gems. It was made of thorns that grew out of the ground, the curse that Adam and Eve were subjected to when they sinned.

It was an insult and a mockery from the Roman soldiers! But it was made sacred by the person who wore it.

And the person who once wore this [Crown of Thorns] was also staring at Father Gabriel.

The priest fell to the ground and looked up in panic. The wooden sculpture, whose face was originally blurred, was now lowering its head and looking at him.

The dome above his head was very low, and there was not enough light in the dim church, so that the shadow outlined a strange smile at the corner of the wood carving's mouth...

The martyr of a thousand years ago, the King of the Jews with the [crown of thorns] on his head, revealed a sarcasm that was hidden for an era!

Devil! Devil!
How could the loving Christ, the Christ who has mercy on the world, the Christ who bore original sin, be like this? !
I am his servant, the one who preaches the gospel in the world!
Someone must be practicing witchcraft!
They plaited a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand and knelt before him, mocking him and saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

Matthew 27:29
Now, in Father Gabriel's eyes, there are two people wearing the "Crown of Thorns" on their heads, one hanging on the cross and the other standing beside him.

They were all staring at him, their figures slowly overlapping...

"No! Never! It's just a trick!"

Father Gabriel gasped and screamed hysterically, but he still couldn't explain why a crown of thorns appeared out of thin air on Garys' head.

"I am a priest ordained by the bishop! I share the bishop's authority! I exercise the sacred authority on behalf of the bishop! I am given the indelible mark of holiness!"

"What are you? What are you?"

"You're nothing!"

Father Gabriel started hurling insults, incoherently stressing his own status and position, in an attempt to intimidate the young man next to him.

But obviously, Father Gabriel's actions meant nothing to Garys.

Garys kicked the priest off the altar, and the deacons on the side came forward to help Father Gabriel up.

"Go! Drive that guy away! Beat that guy to death!"

"Go ahead! You guys!"

Father Gabriel gave orders to the deacons who were supporting him.

However, the deacons were hesitant and some did not dare to move forward.

Because in the church, more than ten people jumped out of the pews and onto the aisle, rushing straight to the altar, protecting the tattered Gairis behind them.

Jesus was poor, and He saved some from the earthly sufferings of hunger, injustice, disease, and death.

He invited the poor to attend the banquet in heaven, and turned his flesh and blood into bread and wine, which he gave to the believers.

And now, Garys stood here. Like the people who protected him, he had worked the land under the scorching sun and dug food out of the soil with his own hands.

Not all of those who protected Garys had received sermons in Skarl Village. Many of them had only known Garys for two days, but that was enough for them to regard Garys as a brother.

"Charlie, what are you doing?!"

A deacon signaled to the brothers not to move forward, but it was of no use. Those people had formed a human wall and were pressing towards these gorgeously dressed priests.

Father Gabriel saw that the situation was not good and shouted: "Are you going to rebel?!"

But no one responded to his words.

"Stop them! Stop them, I'll go get some help!"

Having said this, Father Gabriel turned around and left the deacons. Showing an agility that was totally different from his age, he fled out of the side door of the church, leaving the stunned deacons behind.

Charlie and Simon moved their necks and wrists slightly, and then Simon went up and smashed a deacon with his fist as big as a sandbag, smashing the gorgeous vestment into pieces.

Seeing Simon being so supportive, Charlie on the side also went up to give him a punch. These priests in the church were corrupt and used to taking bribes on a daily basis. Whenever they performed any holy ceremony, they would take a layer of fat from the free people.

Charlie and his friends don't have a good impression of these guys.

Nowadays, if you have grievances, complain, or revenge, just beat them up and that’s it.

As for the priest who ran away, Gailis just glanced at him indifferently. Letting the tiger go back to the mountains?

No, this is called besieging a point and attacking reinforcements. If you don't release a bait, how can you catch a big fish and turn the manor into a pool of muddy water?

Starting the fight during the mass in the church was just the beginning. Garys didn't believe that the fish would not take the bait.

Listening to the screams and the powerful sounds of punches hitting flesh.

Gailis said, "That's enough. Don't beat him to death. Blood should not be seen in my brother's residence."

For the sake of the wooden sculpture of the cross behind him, Garys stopped Simon and Charlie from beating the man to death.

In response to this, the shadow at the corner of the wooden sculpture's mouth seemed to fluctuate slightly as the candlelight swayed.

When the deacons, who were dizzy and seeing stars from being beaten, recovered, they were thrown out of the church by Simon and Charlie.

"Sit back, today's mass continues." Gailis ordered, and Simon and Charlie nodded in response with a smile.

When everyone sat down again, Gaillis closed the Bible that the priest had opened. He didn't need the book for his sermon.

"I know that most of you here are meeting me for the first time. Who am I?"

"As you have heard in the Creed, I was once the incarnation of God's only Son Jesus Christ, I endured the suffering of the cross, witnessed the rise and fall of empires and the fall of kingdoms in the torrent of history, and now I, the Holy Spirit, have incarnated as a sufferer to bring new revelations."

As he said this, Garys took off his clothes, revealing the scar under his ribs. As Garys breathed, the horrifying scar squirmed like a centipede or a snake. How could a person who had experienced such a cruel injury still be alive!

"A few months ago, I died of a knife wound. I realized my identity and my mission in this life. I must draw the sword for justice and set the earth ablaze with the flames of freedom and equality."

Having said this, Gailis raised his left hand again and showed the scar on his left hand to the believers approaching him.

"My father once told me that the kingdom of heaven is not in the sky, but on the earth."

“When the tyranny and darkness of the world are completely destroyed, the Day of Judgment will arrive. The new heaven and new earth will be eternal, and even the dead will be resurrected from the earth to celebrate the arrival of that day together.”

"Come, let us continue today's Mass and celebrate that day's feast."

“Let us begin with the ecumenical prayers of today’s Mass.”

“Please have mercy on those who live in poverty and grant them physical and spiritual food, so that they will not lose hope in difficult situations and feel the care and love of the Lord.”

The people in the audience were a little confused, only Simon and a few others reacted in time, and they answered in unison.

“Lord, please hear our prayers!”

“Please comfort all those who are sick, lonely and oppressed, give them strength and hope, and let them feel your love and presence.”

This time, more people prayed together: "Lord, please hear our prayers!"

“Please have mercy on our brothers and sisters who have passed away and grant them eternal rest in your presence.”

Almost everyone in the church prayed together: "Lord, please hear our prayers!

"Please guide each of us believers, so that we can draw the sword of justice, give us courage and patience, and go out like warriors like you; inspire enthusiasm like soldiers, shout, and defeat the enemy!"

This time, everyone prayed together, without exception: "Lord, please hear our prayers!"

Universal prayer, or public prayer, is an important step in the Catholic Mass liturgy.

Generally speaking, universal prayer is when the church invites all believers present to pray for the universal church, society, individuals and various needs.

In the Middle Ages, universal prayer meetings placed special emphasis on "praying for kings and other people in high positions."

Obviously, Garys's universal prayer kicked the church far away and did not take the face of the kings and those in authority into consideration at all.

According to Gellis's self-declaration, he wants to restore order to the earth and hunt down the kings of the nations with sword and bow.

The hunted kings or lords were regarded as dust and stubble blown by the wind.

In this situation, how could he pray for his prey?

When this step was completed, he found the bread and wine from the things brought by the deacons on the side, and would transform the bread and wine into the Holy Body and Blood through a series of rituals.

The Eucharist is the most sacred part of the Mass. Believers believe that after the consecration, the bread and wine will become the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

And when Gérice presided over this sacrament, the Body and Blood of Christ became Gérice's own Body and Blood, which was part of the plan.
