Chapter 48 Thangka
"This is……"

Taoist Lan looked at the golden light on the scroll, which was the pure Buddha's light.

If it were not in the Qinghua Sect, this Buddha's light should have penetrated the sky and the earth, illuminating the universe.

Now... it can only emit a faint light.

The scroll depicts a Buddha statue wearing a cassock, a five-Buddha crown on his head, holding a staff and a pearl in his hands, standing on the gate of the underworld, with a solemn and compassionate face, accompanied by the words "I will not become a Buddha until hell is empty."

Even Xu Shun knew that this was Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva!
What surprised Taoist Lan was not the portrait of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, but the material of the portrait.

This is a thangka, a human skin or Buddha skin thangka!

Thangka made from the skin of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva!
The painting of Thangka has strict requirements and extremely complicated procedures, and must be done in accordance with the rituals in the scriptures and the requirements of the master.

It includes a complete set of craft procedures including pre-painting ceremony, canvas making, composition and drafting, coloring and dyeing, outlining and shaping, gilding and silvering, opening the eyes, sewing, mounting and consecrating.

It takes a long time to make a thangka. An ordinary thangka can take as short as half a year or as long as more than ten years.

How long does it take to make a thangka using the skin of a Bodhisattva?

Hundreds of years? One thousand years? Two thousand years?

Lan Daoren couldn't guess, so he just asked, "Where did you get this?"

Xu Shun looked at the exquisitely made thangka and saw that it was decorated with gold, silver, pearls, agate, turquoise, cinnabar and other brightly colored decorations. Not only did Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva appear solemn and compassionate, but the little ghosts under his feet also had green faces and fangs, and each one looked weird and terrifying.

At the feet of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva there is a strange beast with a tiger head, one horn, dog ears, a dragon body, a lion tail, and unicorn feet. It is Di Ting.

Zi Su's eyelids twitched. He had seen Buddha's bones some time ago, and now he saw a thangka of Bodhisattva's skin.

Fortunately, he doesn’t have to chant Amitabha, otherwise he would be scared to death in the middle of the night!
When the head of Lan Dai heard Lan Daoren's question, he smiled and said, "Guess!"

"You haven't gone out for a hundred years! Could it be that the master appeared this time and guided you to find it? So you can go out?" Taoist Lan knew Lan Dai, the otaku and fun-loving person, inside and out, so he said bluntly.

"I found this thing in the Karl Temple in the Great Snow Mountain." The head of Lan Dai continued, "From the magic of their yellow-skinned monks and the level of offerings in the temple."

"I guess they have had this thing for many, many years."

"Maybe a thousand years, or maybe several thousand years!" said the head of Lan Dai seriously.

For a thousand years, or even several thousand years, the skin of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was made into thangka by monks?

What kind of black humor is this!
Xu Shun and Zi Su looked at each other and felt that... there is another world of immortals in the world of cultivating immortals, or maybe the world of Posuo Buddhism is very complicated.

Fortunately, they are all little Karami now, and it is not their turn to worry about these things.

The worried person said, "Hey... that ancestor is so unhappy that he is dying of joy."

Another worried person said: "It was the master who guided me to find this thing. You know, we are of the same lineage as Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and Avalokitesvara..."

"When I came here, there was another thing like this on the road!" Lan Daoren took out a golden skull from his sleeve.

"what?"

This time it was the turn of the Blue Era leader to be surprised.

He took the skull handed to him by Lan Daoren, held it in his own hands, and looked at it carefully.

Xu Shun saw the yin-yang fish flashing in his eyes.

"Is this... the skull of Maitreya Buddha?" he said a little uncertainly.

"Uncle Jing, come and take a look!" The head of the Lan Dai sect stood up, waved his whisk, and spoke loudly.

As he spoke, Xu Shun saw a dazzling white light suddenly descending from the sky and shining on the golden skull.

"Yes, it is the skull of Maitreya Buddha, although its power is very very very weak." A slightly frivolous voice sounded in the ears of Xu Shun and the other three. A bronze mirror also appeared on the stone table in front of Xu Shun.

This bronze mirror seems to have gone through the baptism of time, simple yet rustic.

There are no complicated carvings on the edge of the mirror, only simple lines, perhaps the smoothness of a circle, or the neatness of a square, with a beauty of returning to nature.

At this moment, the mirror is floating in the air, rotating slowly and continuously.

If a broom can turn into a spirit and gain intelligence, what about magic weapons?

In the world of immortal cultivation, there are many magical weapons with spiritual intelligence, which are called spiritual treasures.

"What? Have you never seen a mirror as beautiful as mine?" The bronze mirror turned around and said to Xu Shun and Zi Su.

"Uncle Jing, you are the ancestors' personal belongings. You are their father, doesn't that mean..." said the leader of Lan Dai.

"I'm happy, what's it to you?" Bronze Mirror confronted the leader of the Blue Generation.

"Greetings, Master Mirror!" Taoist Lan bowed to the bronze mirror and said.

"It's you, kid!" Bronze Mirror obviously recognized Lan Dao Ren and said, "It's you, kid, who made me lose a lot on the broken iron bar."

"Sorry. I'm really sorry that I couldn't help Jing Zun win!" Although Lan Dao Ren saluted, he didn't indulge Jing Zun and said sarcastically.

"Good boy!" Bronze Mirror was scolded, but he was not angry. Instead, he said with admiration: "You have a temper and a personality!"

"I hope that after you ascend to heaven, you can still be so irritable when you see the master!"

The master he was referring to was naturally the founder of the Qinghua School.

"Master Mirror, how come the skull of Maitreya Buddha is in our world of immortal cultivation?" Master Lan Dai frowned and asked the bronze mirror.

"You ask me, how would I know?" Bronze Mirror seemed to like to confront Lan Dai very much.

"And there is the Buddha's heart..." Lan Dao talked about the monk with the Buddha's heart he met on the road.

"Buddha's heart?" The head of Lan Dai frowned even more tightly and said, "Skull, heart, or anything else?"

"And Buddha skin..."

"Could it be that these Buddhas were cut into pieces?"

"Hey..." He gave a rare bitter smile.

"Huh? Why aren't you happy, senior brother? Even if the sky falls, there are still tall people watching you." Taoist Lan said when he saw Lan Dai smile bitterly.

Now it was his turn to gloat.

"Huh~" Lan Dai was mocked and just sneered, "You guy, you still don't know why I called you back."

"Isn't it a human skin thangka? Isn't it just an accident in the Vassa Buddhist world?" Taoist Lan retorted, indicating that he already knew what was going on.

"No! Of course not this!" Lan Dai said seriously: "Compared to this, this is nothing."

"The fairy world is considering lowering the standards for immortals to ascend to heaven!" he said word by word.

"Huh?" Taoist Lan was stunned.

Not only was Lan Dao Ren stunned, but even Xu Shun and Zi Su were stunned as well.

Those in the current Mahayana stage can ascend when the time is right, and during and after the ascension, it is the ascension period.

The Mahayana cultivators lowered the standards for immortal ascension, so doesn't that mean one can ascend as soon as he reaches perfection in the Yuanshen stage?
What does the fairyland mean?
