The Wolf of Los Angeles.
Chapter 310 Life from Heaven to Hell
In a single-family house in West Hollywood, Campos pinned a map of the small city of Venice on a large whiteboard.
Garcia walked up with a pen and circled a red dot at a location on the west side of Pacific Avenue.
Hawke checked the location on the map, compared it with the actual area in his mind, and quickly determined the exact location. He asked, "Is this where the new club is?"
Garcia replied: "We have conducted some peripheral investigations. This is a private yacht club established seven years ago and registered under the name of a trading company. The company has no dealings with the Ackerman family and its companies, but based on what we have discovered in recent days, this should be the starting point of the new club."
Juan then came to the map and drew a line on the sea with a pen: "The yacht departed from the dock and headed in this direction until it disappeared."
Edward said, "They must have moved the party to an island somewhere."
Hawke's eyes fell on the open sea and he said, "There aren't many private islands off the coast of Los Angeles, but there aren't too few either. Tracking in a place like this on the sea is too easy to be discovered."
Campos continued, "The last time Harley Wayne tracked her down at the Venice Beach Club, it was the trigger for a series of subsequent events. The Ackerman family learned a lesson from the experience."
He said directly: "Tracking on the sea is too difficult. If the other ship is equipped with radar, it will be easy to be discovered even at a long distance."
Carlos interjected, "Radar for civilian ships is not difficult to get. It's easy to get if you have money."
Hawke thought for a moment and said, "Don't chase them at sea. It's too dangerous. Safety is more important than catching these bastards."
Campos and others did not say anything, but they felt the boss's attention.
Hawke looked around the room, confirming that everyone here had participated in the operation in Rosario, Mexico, and said, "We still have an ace in our hand. She should know something about it."
Campos said: "Melissa Ackerman has been incarcerated for a long time, her diet has been restricted, and her mental state is not very good. She is no longer the same as she was a few months ago."
Hawke nodded, "Very good, we'll go visit this woman later."
He glanced at the others and clapped his hands. "Everyone, continue with your previous work. I just want to emphasize one point. It is better to abandon the target than to put yourself in danger."
Everyone responded and left one after another except Campos.
Hawke and Campos head to the warehouse where Melissa is being held captive.
Just after arriving at the place, someone called. Campos got out of the car, met Hawke, and said, "The latest news is that Johnny Edwards took a flight from Los Angeles International Airport and left Los Angeles for San Francisco. Tiger Woods also left and his destination is Georgia. The Masters Tournament held there will start next month."
"I see." Hawke thought as he walked. After entering the warehouse, he said to Campos, "Follow Johnny Edwards' men and withdraw. Don't follow them any further. Politicians should be cautious."
Campos understood this: “Yes.”
Hawke added: "Keep following Tiger Woods, he could be our breakthrough point."
Campos set about making arrangements.
Hawke and Edward, who had already put on makeup, went down the stairs to the basement.
Under the turned-on light, the woman in the cage had disheveled hair, was dirty, and gave off a sour smell. She was also thinner than before and was not much better than a homeless person on the slum.
Because she had to serve as a blood bag and a backup organ bank, Melissa did not become skinny.
Hawke looked around briefly and walked towards the cage.
Melissa kept staring. Unlike the previous two times, the two people who came this time were no longer wearing black hoods. Their bearded faces were clearly visible under the light.
This made Melissa misunderstand.
Months of confinement in a dog cage and miserable life without sunlight have brought this woman to the brink of mental collapse.
Many things are completely different when imagined and when actually experienced.
Seeing the two men seeing her in their “true colors,” Melissa climbed to the edge of the cage, grabbed the cold steel bars with both hands, and asked, “Have you thought about it?”
It had been so long that Hawke couldn't remember clearly.
Melissa was very excited. She shook her greasy hair and the solid iron cage bars. She cried and said, "Why did you come just now? Why did you come just now? I have been waiting for you for so long. Do you know?"
The long imprisonment and the life from heaven to hell made her almost crazy: "Hurry up, let me out! I will give you half of my property!"
Hawke said, "Don't make any noise."
Melissa didn't listen at all and continued to yell.
Campos came in from behind with a stun gun.
Edward took it and hit the iron cage, with the crackling of electricity, and Melissa let out a piercing scream.
But then she became obedient.
Melissa looked at Hawke and the other two in horror.
Campos whispered, "The last time I left, I asked her to have a mental breakdown as soon as possible. I asked the guard to tame her frequently. The guard was deaf-mute and didn't understand English, so he couldn't communicate with her. He couldn't really hurt her body, so he used electrotherapy."
Hawke understood that the female guard that Campos had found was the descendant of the King of Thunder and Lightning. No wonder Melissa was on the verge of mental collapse.
Edward took back the stun gun, and the fear on Melissa's face dissipated a little.
Hawke took another step forward and said, "Long time no see, Miss Ackerman."
The electric shock frightened Melissa, and the fear made her brain clearer. She stared at Hawke and Edward for a while, then said slowly, "You are not Sean's men."
She suddenly raised her voice: "Who are you?"
Hawke wasn't interested in answering her question and asked directly, "After the Venice Beach Club burned down, where did you choose to hold the party?"
Melissa also didn't answer, but asked, "Are you the FBI?"
Hawke winked.
Edward, the dirty old black man, smiled with two rows of white teeth, picked up the stun gun, put it on the iron cage, and pressed the switch with his finger.
Accompanied by a woman's scream, Melissa sat in the iron cage with dull eyes and a dull face.
It looked like there was something wrong with the whole person.
Hawke could imagine that the female Lightning Queen had been playing some kind of training game over the past few months.
Edward retracted his electric baton as soon as it was touched, and when Melissa came to her senses, he extended it out again.
This time, Melissa crawled quickly like a bitch, grabbed the steel bar with both hands, pressed her face against it, and shouted, "I'll tell you everything!"
She spoke very quickly: "We moved to Catalina Island and established a new club in Avalon, the only town on the island. Avalon has a small airport and a shipping terminal, which is convenient for guests to travel to and from the North American continent and convenient for cargo transportation."
Hawke turned his head and whispered to Campos, "The guard did an excellent job and deserves a reward."
Campos also thought so. Without the deaf and mute female guard's persistent training over the past few months, this woman would not have been so well-behaved.
Hawke continued, "Are all the guards and administrative departments on the island your people?"
Melissa laughed strangely and said, "They've already been to our party. They have no choice but to stand on our side."
Edward said deliberately: "They can surrender themselves!"
"Turn yourself in, how ridiculous!" Melissa said sarcastically, "Those guys who looked so upright tortured girls to death while enjoying themselves at the Venice Beach Club. You have no idea what they have done."
She looked at Hawke: "You men, once you take off your masks and indulge yourself, you are all demons!"
Hawke pretended not to hear and only asked what he wanted to ask: "It seems that you secretly recorded the video to get the upper hand over those people."
Melissa laughed wantonly: "If we don't secretly take photos or record videos, why are we organizing these? Are you crazy?"
Hawke said, "Where's the video? Don't say you don't have it."
Melissa said, “I can tell you, but what can you give?”
"Me!" Edward stepped forward and placed the electric baton on the iron cage.
Melissa quickly said, "I don't expect you to let me go, but can you improve my living environment so that I can take a shower every day and have a separate bathroom?"
Edward waved the electric prod and taunted, "And throw this away too."
Melissa looked at the electric baton with fear in her eyes, mixed with some complicated emotions, and said, "No, you can keep it."
Hawke thought for a moment and said, "I'll find you a new place to live."
Melissa said, "The stuff is in Las Vegas. I have a safe deposit box at Citibank there. The safe deposit box only accepts keys. I hid the key in a secret place at the Ackerman Charitable Foundation headquarters. It's not easy to get it out. It's difficult for outsiders to get in. Dozens of armed guards patrol 24 hours a day, and there is a complete security surveillance system."
She paused for a moment and said, "Perhaps you can talk to Chairman Barack Bernanke, who is my trusted subordinate and suitor..."
Hawke said, "I have some unfortunate news for you. Barack Bernan has joined your brother Sean."
“Damn it!” Melissa shouted angrily, “I knew that men are unreliable.”
Hawke didn't bother to pay attention to these words and asked further about the detailed location of the key, and found that things were not easy to handle.
The key is in a safe in the finance office at the headquarters foundation, hidden inside a document bag.
What Melissa has saved here is one of the multiple backups, and it is not intended to protect against internal members of the Ackerman family.
Hawke tried to ask about the Ackerman family's private matters again, but Melissa shut her mouth. The content directly threatened the family's survival, and even if Edward used an electric baton, it didn't work.
Coming out of the warehouse, Hawke called Brian and asked him to help find a suitable house to buy specifically for the blood bag. (End of this chapter)
