Chapter 10 The Spanish Revolution

The Austro-Prussian War can be said to be the only major event before the Spanish Revolution.

Carlo's suggestions achieved very good results. The result was that Vittorio Emanuele II paid more attention to Carlo's ideas and allowed Carlo to have greater autonomy.

For Carlo, the most important thing at the moment is to find some qualified subordinates for himself, so that at least he does not have to do everything by himself.

In September 1868, exiled soldiers led by Francisco Serrano and supporters of Juan Bautista Topper, who had been elected to the House of Representatives, launched a larger uprising.

Because it broke out in September, this revolution is also called the September Revolution by the Spanish people.

The corrupt royal government was unable to suppress the explosive revolution. Peasants and workers actively joined the uprising, which swept across most of Spain in a short period of time.

What’s worse is that Queen Isabella II of Spain’s control over the army was not so perfect.

The soldiers had no good feelings towards this absurd and extravagant queen. The defection of a large number of government troops accelerated the process of the Spanish revolution, and the Spanish kingdom was destroyed.
