1987 My Era
Chapter 587,
Chapter 587,
After leaving the grocery store, Li Heng braved the cold wind and rushed to Chunhua Noodle Shop.
Surprisingly, the shop was open, and there were three women and two men eating wontons inside.
Upon seeing Li Heng enter, Zhang Zhiyong, who was wiping the tables and chairs, instantly teleported to his side, grinning slyly and saying, "Holy crap! What the hell! Uncle Heng, what brings you here at this hour?"
"I came to see you all."
Li Heng asked, "People were coming to eat on the third day of the Lunar New Year. It seems you're going to make a fortune this year. By the way, where's Sister Chunhua?"
Zhang Zhiyong pointed to the second floor, "If there's nothing wrong, of course we'll let her go upstairs to rest. She just came upstairs after serving the customers wontons, and I'll call her down now."
Li Heng quickly stopped the idiot: "No, no. She's pregnant, she should rest more."
Feeling sorry for his wife, Zhang Zhiyong immediately listened and didn't try to be strong, asking, "Uncle, what would you like to eat? I'll cook it for you myself."
Li Heng questioned, "Is what you made edible?"
The simpleton rolled up his sleeves, defiantly declaring, "Damn it! You're looking down on me, aren't you? I don't like hearing that. You can't make rice noodles, but you can make wontons, right? Just scoop them out of the water."
"Sounds promising, I'll have a bowl then." Li Heng found an empty seat and sat down, listening to the conversation at the next table.
A moment later, the wontons arrived. Li Heng picked up a pair of chopsticks, took a bite, and was immediately speechless: "You call this delicious? It's far worse than your stepmother's and your wife's cooking."
The dim-witted guy thought he was extorting money, so he also picked one up and put it in his mouth. A second later, he quickly bent over and spat it into the trash can, cursing to himself:
"Damn it! I've seen Sister Chunhua make wontons like this before, how come the taste is so different?"
There was no other way; in the end, it was Liu Chunhua who stepped in and made sure Li Heng felt comfortable.
After the meal, Li Heng told Liu Chunhua about how her mother couldn't come out because she was taking care of her pregnant daughter-in-law. Liu Chunhua was a little disappointed, but also happy for her brother.
Zhang Zhiyong lived up to his nickname "simpleton," showing no reaction whatsoever after hearing the story, and even offered to personally escort him back to Lushan Village.
After everyone was gone from the shop, Li Heng closed the door and headed to Fudan University with the dimwit.
On the way, Li Heng asked, "Where's Li Ran? Didn't he say he was going to spend the New Year with you two?"
Zhang Zhiyong scratched the back of his head with his right hand. "We spent the New Year together. But she left this morning, saying she had something to do. I reckon it's probably Zhao An who came looking for us."
Li Heng asked in surprise, "So much time has passed, is Zhao An still around?"
The simpleton nodded vigorously like a chick: "That's right, it's like a piece of chewing gum that you can't shake off."
"Hey! If you ask me, Li Ran should just keep sleeping with Zhao An and send that sickly guy to the afterlife as soon as possible, that would be the right thing to do."
Li Heng: "..."
He sighed, "Young Master Zhao is also a pitiful man. Apart from his poor health, it's rare to see someone from such a family being so devoted to another."
Upon hearing about being devoted, the simpleton finally found a sense of agreement and stopped saying anything derogatory.
Upon arriving at Lushan Village, Li Heng said to Zhang Zhiyong, "Old Yong, you should go back first. Sister Chunhua is home alone, so I won't keep you."
Zhang Zhiyong looked around, grinned, and asked, "It's pitch black and you're all alone in this old house. Aren't you afraid of ghosts?"
"Get lost, you bastard!" Li Heng said irritably.
He wasn't afraid at first, but after this idiot said that, he suddenly felt a little uneasy.
Buildings 24, 25, 26, 27, and the nearby small buildings were all pitch black. I don't know if they were asleep or if they weren't there at all.
It made the end of the alley feel deathly still.
Zhang Zhiyong was scolded and left.
After returning home, Li Heng first took a shower and threw his clothes into the washing machine. Then, before it got too late, he quickly grabbed his keys and headed straight to the small building next door, number 27.
"Huh?" As he was about to open the door, he suddenly realized that the gate to the courtyard of building number 27 was not locked from the outside, but locked from the inside and bolted.
Could it be that Miss Zhou has already arrived?
Arriving so early?
Realizing something, Li Heng looked up and gazed at the second floor.
I searched for a long time in the dim light, looking back and forth between the balcony and the attic several times, but I couldn't find anything.
The gaze shifts to the windows of the music room and bedroom.
Ok?
The curtains in the music room are open. Is someone really there?
According to Ms. Zhou's usual habits, she usually keeps the curtains drawn when she's not home, in order to prevent the piano inside from being exposed to direct sunlight.
Having made up his mind, Li Heng immediately started banging on the door and shouting:
"Is Comrade Shihe home?"
"Open the door."
After only two calls, the effect was immediate; the inner door opened, and light footsteps approached.
A moment later, the bolt on the courtyard gate rattled, and a crack appeared next to the gate, revealing a person.
With half a face unspoken and a clear, unadorned black and white, who else could it be but the exquisitely beautiful and unparalleled Zhou Shihe?
Their eyes met, and Li Heng was stunned by her captivating beauty, remaining silent for a moment.
It's really hard to imagine that after a year and a half of getting to know each other, we're already old acquaintances, yet we can still recapture the amazing feeling we had when we first met. Li Heng couldn't help but feel a lot of emotions.
Through the door, Zhou Shihe seemed to sense his unusual behavior. She held the door with her slender hand but didn't say anything.
For a moment, their eyes met, and they gazed at each other silently, neither of them speaking.
After half a day, Li Heng, gradually regaining his senses, asked happily, "Why did you come today?"
Seeing that he made a move, Zhou Shihe's heart, which had been in her throat, quietly settled down.
A moment later, she stepped aside to let him in.
Li Heng understood and entered the room with perfect understanding.
He closed the door behind him and asked, "Have you been here long?"
Zhou Shihe said, "I arrived around dusk."
Li Heng asked, "Are you home alone?"
Zhou Shihe nodded and then shook her head: "My aunt has been here with me for a long time, but she has to go out to take care of something now. She will be back later."
Oh I got it.
She didn't explain why she came today, and Li Heng was too lazy to ask again. As he entered the house, changed his shoes, and went up the stairs, he thought of something.
Then I asked her, "Were you hiding in the corner of the attic spying on me and Zhang Zhiyong for a long time? That's why you came down as soon as I left building number 26?"
Zhou Shihe smiled cleverly but remained silent.
Upon reaching the second floor, Li Heng stood at the entrance of the hallway, staring at the landline phone on the coffee table, and said, "Comrade Shihe, do you know why I came to your house in the middle of the night?"
Zhou Shihe gave him a strange look at his back, then glanced at the room key he was holding in his hand.
She recognized it at a glance; the key in his hand was the very one she had given him.
Thinking of this, Zhou Shihe silently turned around and slowly walked downstairs.
Li Heng turned his back and jokingly shouted, "It's like a cuckoo taking over a magpie's nest, and it's even the nest of the King of Fudan University. If word gets out, it'll be a good story. Thanks for making this happen."
Zhou Shihe looked down quietly at the wooden staircase steps, smoothed her hair behind her ear with her right hand, and walked slowly without making a sound.
