Knight and Wand
Chapter 35 Opportunity
Chapter 35 Opportunity
Under the mill windmill on the north slope, six horses of the Kantadar mercenaries were tied aside.
Three mercenaries, swords slung over their waists, leisurely watched the chaos in the village, pointing and talking, while expressing regret that they could not join in the looting at the foot of the mountain.
On the top floor of the windmill tower, only one of the other three mercenaries on guard stood by the window and looked into the distance, while the other two sat in the corner and took a nap.
Leon carefully withdrew his prying eyes from the edge of the hole on the top of the tower.
The three of them had been hiding on the top of the windmill for several hours, but they still hadn't found a chance to escape.
Last night, a dozen Kantadar cavalrymen occupied the mill.
These were not wild goblins or village ruffians. Facing so many warriors who were skilled in archery and horse riding and fully armed, the three teenagers had no chance of winning.
Although most of the cavalry rushed into the village of Selva at the foot of the mountain at daybreak, and now only six cavalrymen were left stationed inside and outside the mill tower, Leon still did not dare to take the risk of trying to confront them after estimating the difference in power between them.
The enemies were in groups of three, and it was impossible to catch any of them alone. Once they were exposed, it would be three against six. No matter whether it was Leon, Lohak, or Azerien, it was simply a pipe dream for one person to fight two cavalrymen at the same time.
If only I could have the martial arts skills like Olivia
In the predicament, Leon couldn't help but feel the same sigh that Lohak had expressed before.
Thinking of the blonde girl, he couldn't help but look towards the village at the foot of the mountain with worry.
Although they couldn't see it clearly, Leon and others watched silently the whole process of a large group of cavalry attacking Selva from all sides.
This couldn't fail to affect Olivia who lived in the village.
But the three young men hiding on the top of the tower were now in danger themselves, and there was nothing they could do except feel indignant.
As if the recurring tragedy brought back painful memories, Lohak turned his head away and closed his eyes, unable to bear to look at the disaster below the mountain.
Leon could only sigh in his heart and secretly pray that the kind girl could break out of the siege with her superb swordsmanship.
Suddenly, I heard the clattering sound of horse hooves approaching from not far away.
The three of them carefully lay down on their backs to hide their bodies so as to avoid being seen by people in the distance.
The cavalry stationed inside and outside the windmill looked out.
Three mercenary companions with bulging bags came riding towards them. On the back of one of them was a little brown-haired girl, her mouth blocked with a rag, sobbing.
(Uriah) "Why are you three back?" asked a mercenary cavalryman stationed there.
"The boss asked us to take over, and it just so happens that we guys are tired of snatching. What? Are you still not happy?" The leading pockmarked cavalryman pulled the reins, dismounted, and cursed with a smile.
"You guys have quite a lot of stuff in these bags, is this poor village really that rich?"
"Hey, don't mention it. There's nothing good about it. It's all just junk. The houses of the slightly richer families were all cleaned out by the servants of those knights. We brothers just grabbed some oil residue."
After complaining, the pockmarked man suddenly changed the subject and said with a gloating expression, "But they hit a wall. Some people have the chance to grab the treasure but not the chance to spend it."
"What's going on? There's still resistance in such a small village? We lost some men?" A Kantadar cavalryman who stayed behind to keep watch was surprised.
"We lost one of our men, and two of the Baron's men were killed. There was also a knight whose legs were broken. If the Baron hadn't led his men quickly, the knight would have died. Now he's lying in bed. It's tragic. A disaster. Tsk tsk tsk tsk."
The pockmarked face was talking loudly.
"Tell me in detail, what's going on? Are the militiamen in this village so powerful?"
The few people who were staying there became interested and gathered around to listen to his story.
"There were no militias. It was a little girl and an old man who killed three of us along the way and almost escaped on horseback. The injured knight was knocked down by the little girl."
"Hey~ Just keep talking nonsense!" After hearing this, several people immediately didn't believe it at all and thought that the pockmarked man was bragging.
"Fuck it, if you don't believe it, forget it. Can't you go to the village and ask?"
The pockmarked man was too lazy to pay attention to them.
But it was understandable. If he had not seen with his own eyes the blonde girl holding the knight hostage and confronting the Baron, he probably would not have dared to believe such a ridiculous thing.
A petite girl of fifteen or sixteen, wearing a corseted dress, defeated a heavily armored noble knight who weighed twice as much as her with only a sword.
Even a drunk in a bar couldn't come up with such nonsense.
The pockmarked man didn't even dare to think about how the knight's precious warhorse was chopped down. He was just glad that he was not blocking the road at the entrance of the village at that time.
"Is it a girl like this? I see this girl didn't kill you." A cavalryman walked up with a lewd smile and patted a brown-haired girl who was captured on the other side's horse, and laughed at her without any hesitation.
The brown-haired girl on the horse struggled violently in fear.
The pockmarked man pushed open that man's dirty hands in displeasure: "Don't touch my things. I haven't even started playing with them yet, and you want to take them for yourself!"
The cavalrymen had no choice but to disperse with laughter. One of them went upstairs to wake up his companions, and everyone mounted their horses and rode away.
The pockmarked man tied up the horse and carried the kidnapped girl off the horse. He turned around and instructed one of his men to go to the top floor to keep watch, and another to keep watch at the door: "Don't worry, you two. Wait until I'm done, then it'll be your turn."
After giving the order, he patted the crying girl on his shoulder, walked into the mill and said with a lewd smile: "Haha, stop screaming, save some strength, I will make you scream even louder later."
On the top of the tower, Leon and the other two quietly watched the backs of the original six cavalrymen gradually disappear into the distance.
Although he didn't know what the Kantardars downstairs were talking about, he stole a glance down the tower.
The six people have become three, and not only that, the three Kantadar soldiers have also separated.
A lone man sat at the mill door, watching the horses.
The two entered the windmill tower.
Leon turned around and looked at his companion at the hole.
Lockhart stuck his head out of the hole and glanced at the third floor.
After a while, he looked up and raised a finger to Leon, indicating that he only saw one person on the top floor.
good chance!
Leon pushed Azerien's shoulder beside him, signaling him to get ready to take action.
After waiting for several hours on the top of the tower in the cold wind, now is the best chance to escape.
The three enemies were completely alone, one was keeping watch at the top-floor window, and one was guarding the door outside the windmill.
The guy who was carrying the village girl and preparing to do something dirty must be on the first or second floor of the room.
Leon held the scabbard on his waist firmly, fearing that it would make any noise. He and Azerien crept to the cave entrance to observe.
There was indeed only one Kantadar mercenary, carrying a bow and looking into the distance boredly by the window.
One could faintly hear the terrified screams of a girl and the savage laughter of a pockmarked cavalryman coming from the lower level of the windmill tower.
Leon analyzed that the other party must be trying to take action on the second floor. If they were on the first floor, they would not be able to hear it so clearly at the top of the tower.
Pointing to the soldier standing guard at the window below, he signaled to his companions to start with this one.
