Chapter 1109 Mature Choice
Chapter 1109 Mature Choice
It sounds like a very sincere offer; regardless of whether a deal is reached, they can take their family members with them.
Hearing what Bob said, the bearded chief couldn't help but chuckle. He hadn't actually intended to laugh, but he couldn't resist.
"do you know?"
"What you're saying reminds me of when I was young. To trick girls into taking their clothes off, I would always tell them it was my first time. I was curious, I just wanted to see how we were different."
He didn't say anything specific, but it seemed to be an answer to Bob's question.
It took Bob a moment to process what he meant. "So, what do you mean?"
This answer made the bearded bureau chief chuckle twice more. "They all say you're one of the smartest people in the Perez family, but I think they might be overestimating you."
He paused. "Can I say a few words to them?"
Bob was reluctant to agree; he was a little angry that someone he wouldn't normally even give a second glance was mocking him.
However, considering that to get rid of the bearded chief, they had to get him out of that damn police station, otherwise they would have almost no chance of taking him down.
Assassinating the police chief in a police station is not impossible, but the cost would be high. This is not something that can be solved by throwing out a few scapegoats. The higher-ups will definitely pursue more responsibility, and perhaps one or two people of sufficient importance in the eyes of the big shots will be needed to quell this matter.
Therefore, he would not make that choice unless absolutely necessary.
The best option is to lure the bearded bureau chief out and kill him.
After considering it, he agreed. Not long after, he heard the voices of the bearded bureau chief's wife and children coming through the receiver.
“Hel, we… are fine. They said you’d be picking us up later, right?” His wife’s voice came first, trembling with fear.
Even without seeing them, the bearded bureau chief could imagine how helpless and anxious his wife must be.
She must be sitting in the corner of the sofa, holding the phone receiver with both hands, or standing in a corner with her back to everyone else.
The bearded bureau chief didn't speak immediately. After a moment of silence, he asked, "How is the child?"
"He's fine. Would you like to say a few words to him?"
"We'll talk about that later. I want to know how they found you and took you away."
"I remember telling you before you left, don't go anywhere."
Speaking of this, his wife couldn't help but apologize for indulging their child. "He was so noisy, he was rolling around on the floor, and he kept asking to go out and play. I couldn't stand his noise anymore, and I thought it was just a short walk, nothing would happen, so I took him outside."
Listening to his wife recount what happened next, the bearded bureau chief sighed deeply. "The best thing you should have done was slap him to calm him down. You shouldn't have let him do that. You would have ruined him. I've told you this before."
This wasn't the first time his wife had spoiled and pampered their child.
The bearded bureau chief came from a very well-off family. Although the Perez family didn't think much of him, they still gave him his share of the monthly allowance in full.
Compared to others, such as the mayor, the share of municipal councilors is indeed not much, but compared to ordinary people, it is much more.
This money meant they never had to worry about expenses. Plus, his wife stayed home full-time to take care of the children, which fostered a better relationship with them, and she wasn't a domineering person.
Every time the child expresses what he wants with strong emotions, his wife eventually gives in. He had mentioned this issue before, saying that he couldn't let the child have his way with everything.
She always said she would change, but she never did.
The bearded bureau chief wiped his face a few times and said, "I'm sorry, this is my problem. I discovered this problem a long time ago, but I failed to change it."
His wife didn't know why he would suddenly apologize to her, so she didn't respond.
At that moment, his son's voice came through the receiver, "Is that Dad?"
"I want to talk to my dad! I want to talk to my dad! Give me the microphone, give it to me!"
He could also hear his wife's low scolding and his son's dissatisfied grumbling. In the past, the bearded bureau chief would have been furious and started scolding them, but now he just listened quietly for a while and then had his wife hand the receiver to his son.
The child didn't know what was going on. Perhaps it was because his mother or others had emphasized his father's role as the police chief during his upbringing that he didn't find the Perez family members particularly scary, and he wasn't afraid of them.
He felt that once he contacted his father, his father would make these people pay the price.
After all, his father was a policeman, a hero, who specialized in fighting bad guys.
"Dad, when are you coming to pick us up?" The child's voice was innocently naive, as if he didn't know what was going on.
The bearded bureau chief grunted in agreement. "It will be done soon, very soon."
"You need to listen to your mother during this time, understand?"
His children are still very well-behaved in front of him. Even though they are young, they know who has the final say in the family. "I know, I will be good."
As he promised the bearded chief when he left, he would listen to his mother, but in the end, he did not keep his word.
"Give the receiver to your mother; I have a few more words to say to her."
The microphone was returned to his wife's hands. Neither of them spoke. After about seven or eight seconds, the bearded bureau chief said again, "I'm sorry."
"No, it's my fault, I'm sorry," his wife quickly corrected him. If she hadn't spoiled the children, none of this would have happened.
She didn't realize that the bearded bureau chief's apology wasn't for his past mistakes, but for what he was about to do.
He wasn't sure if his wife understood, but he continued to comfort her, "Everything will be alright. Take good care of the child, and I'll find a solution as soon as possible."
Perhaps Bob had been watching them talk for too long, so he walked over to his wife and took the phone from her hand. "Now, have you made your decision?"
Bob wore a triumphant smile; he had anticipated that the bearded bureau chief would take a risk for his family.
But ultimately, he will end his life because of this choice.
"Fuck you."
"What?" Bob asked in a tone full of surprise and disbelief, as if he hadn't heard what the bearded chief had just said. "What the hell did you just say?"
“I said, you son of a bitch, I swear, you’re dead, Bob!”
“I will make Lance tell him to leave you and your family to me. I will kill them, bit by bit, right in front of you, to avenge my wife and children!”
"I swear!"
He slammed the phone down, giving Bob no further chance or room to speak.
He couldn't possibly risk his life for his wife and children, because he knew very well that even if he did, his wife and children wouldn't survive, and he would only lose himself in the process.
Since they were going to die anyway, all he could say was sorry.
The bearded chief is a very pragmatic person. You can tell from the fact that he can be a lackey for the Perez family, but then turn around and cooperate with Lance. He is not as unambitious or as principled as people imagine.
He is a person who knows how to weigh the pros and cons. If it is a project that is bound to lose money, he will not invest in it.
Bob looked at the receiver in his hand in disbelief. He then looked at the bearded wife and his son standing to the side. He still couldn't understand why the bearded man would make such a decision.
The bearded bureau chief's wife was unaware of what was happening, and just lowered her head timidly. Little did she know that Bob's rage would soon completely destroy them!
At this moment, many thoughts were swirling in Bob's mind. He had a vague feeling that the bearded chief was forcing him to kill his wife and children.
The feeling of things getting out of control made him very angry, and his eyes turned dangerous.
Perhaps because the child sensed that the middle-aged man's gaze was uncomfortable, the bearded bureau chief's son suddenly kicked Bob's shin hard.
Although he was just a child, the hard leather toe of his shoe, when he used all his strength, kicked Bob so hard that he almost fell to the ground while holding onto the table next to him.
"Shet!"
He roared, glaring fiercely at the child who had caused the trouble and was now hiding behind his mother, peeking out and making faces at him. His violent emotions had distorted his expression.
He shoved the woman aside and kicked her. How could a child withstand a kick from an adult filled with anger?
The bearded bureau chief's wife was stunned for a moment, then she rushed over to stop Bob, who was closing in on her son. Bob slapped her, but the next second, she bit Bob's arm.
The pain in his calves and arms, along with the bearded bureau chief's "loss of control," caused his emotions to completely spiral out of control under such prolonged and immense pressure!
The little boy, who had been kicked to the ground, rushed over again, hitting and kicking him, demanding that he let go of his mother. All of this ignited Bob's final rage!
He pulled out the pistol from his waist and pulled the trigger on the agitated child.
The gunshot startled the bearded bureau chief's wife. She turned to look at the child lying on the ground, unaware of what had happened. Just as she was about to help the child up, a bullet entered his skull from the side and came out from the other side, also knocking over a piece of bone the size of an egg.
Bob, still not satisfied, fired several more shots at the two corpses on the ground until his gun was out of bullets.
Watching the blood continuously soak through the carpet, he glanced down at the bite marks on his arm and the swollen, bruised wounds on his calves. He couldn't help but curse "fuck" a few more times before walking over and sitting down.
"Get me a fucking doctor! This damn bitch bitch tore my arm apart!" He glared viciously at the two corpses on the ground. "Get them out of here and find a way to show that damn old dog what happens when he messes with us!"
All of this happened in a very short time; his men didn't even have time to react before it was over.
After glancing at the two corpses on the ground and then at Bob, everyone sprang into action at Bob's question, "Why the hell aren't you doing anything?"
The body was quickly removed, and the doctor arrived. He examined the wound on Bob's arm, frowned, and said, "It's a deep bite. Bear with it. I need to clean the wound before stitching it up."
He told the nurse to grab Bob's hand, and then started pouring hydrogen peroxide into the wound, even inserting cotton swabs into the wound to wipe the tissue inside.
Bob was in so much pain that he was unable to sit still and cursed loudly, but fortunately the process was not long, and then the doctor began to stitch up his wound.
It's clear that the bearded bureau chief's wife was truly determined to bite him. If she weren't a woman, and if Bob weren't relatively healthy, he might have actually had a piece of flesh bitten off!
The suturing process was just as painful, but the doctor did not use anesthesia in order to help the wound heal faster.
In front of his many subordinates, Bob could only tough it out, trying to make himself look like a big shot in the mob, not a small fry who couldn't even bear a little pain.
This reinforced his desire to eliminate the bearded bureau chief and wipe out his entire family!
Meanwhile, the bearded chief called Lance and told him that there was no need to look anymore, as the man was already in Bob's hands.
Lance wasn't surprised to hear this news. Even if he had already contacted the state police department, it would probably be difficult to get there in time before they started their operation.
"What are you planning to do? Do you need me to try and get them back for you?" Lance, as a friend, gave a "standard answer."
The bearded bureau chief refused, "No need. Neither you nor I know where they are. Even if we did, we might not be able to go and bring them back."
“I’ve spoken to Bob, and he can do whatever he wants, including killing them.”
“Lance, I don’t need you to take any risks for me. I only have one thing I want to ask for your permission to do.”
After pausing for two or three seconds, Lance said, "Please speak."
“If, and I mean if, you win this war, I expect you to hand Bob and his family over to me!”
Lance didn't refuse; it was to his advantage. "No problem, I guarantee that as long as I can catch them, they're yours."
