Chapter 1097 Anti-Doomsday Squad

Azu hovered in mid-air, the black mountain that rose out of nowhere rooted itself in reality, its jagged rock face flowing with dark red patterns, emanating an eerie energy that made him feel a chill run down his spine.

This is by no means any natural or supernatural phenomenon known on Earth.

Just as Azu was filled with doubt and uncertainty, a familiar engine roar came from afar.

Batman's iconic Batmobile screeched to a halt near the ruins not far from the foot of Black Mountain, its tires screeching against the ground.

Bruce then nimbly jumped out of the car and looked at the black mountain and lightning in front of him.

Even through the mask, Azu could feel Bruce's suddenly serious gaze.

"Batman."

Azu landed beside him, and asked in shock, "What the hell is this thing? How did you make this?"

Bruce's eyes scanned Black Mountain and its surroundings rapidly as he said in a low voice, "I don't know, but it's not any known magic or technology."

The two were preparing to approach the foot of the mountain to investigate.

Suddenly, several figures emerged at lightning speed from the nearby shadows or behind broken cover, surrounding the two in a fan shape.

These people were dressed in uniform gray special operations uniforms, with helmets that completely covered their faces except for the optical lenses on their eyes. Their movements were clean and efficient, and they were well-trained. The weapons in their hands emitted high-frequency energy fluctuations.

Seeing that this group seemed to have ill intentions, Azu immediately assumed a fighting stance, his eyes flashing with a reddish light: "Who are you? Government lackeys, or some blind organization?"

Before the other party could answer, Bruce's voice came through the voice changer, "Don't be nervous, Azu, they are the Anti-Doomsday Squad."

Azu was taken aback: "Anti-Doomsday Squad?"

What the hell is this name?

Just as Azu was deep in thought, the leader of the other party raised his hand to signal his companion to calm down.

She then slowly removed her helmet, revealing a short-haired, spirited woman's face.

She looked to be around thirty years old, with sharp eyes that exuded a seasoned composure.

"Batman is right, we are the anti-doomsday team."

The woman calmly stated, "I am Commander Kendra Sanders, Batman, and Homelander..."

As she spoke, she turned her gaze to Azu, "Or should I call you John Patrick?"

Azu narrowed his eyes. "You know me?"

"Yes, I know you, and we know more about you and the Patrick Alliance behind you than you think."

Hearing the other party's arrogant words, Azu frowned.

The other party claimed to know his real name and the background of his farm, which made him very unhappy.

"Stop talking nonsense! Who are you? Did you create this thing?"

Kendra did not answer Azu's question directly. Instead, he shook his head with a serious expression and said, "Now is not the time to explain. Someone... or rather, some kind of being, deliberately guided this invasion. The enemy's target is far more than Gotham."

She pointed a finger at Montenegro, "This is just the beginning."

As soon as he finished speaking, a uniquely shaped, almost silent vertical takeoff and landing aircraft landed quietly not far away, like a ghost.

After the plane came to a complete stop, the cabin door slid open slowly.

"If you want to find out the truth and prevent a bigger disaster, Batman, Homelander, come with us to a place, and I will show you the truth."

As Kendra spoke, his gaze swept over Bruce and Azu.

Azu looked at Bruce with a questioning look in his eyes.

Bruce was silent for a moment, then nodded slightly.

He had heard of this mysterious anti-doomsday squad before and had been observing them. Now that they had shown up and claimed to know the inside story, he was surprised.

This may be the key to unraveling the recent mystery.

"Lead the way," Bruce said succinctly.

When Azu saw Bruce nod, he agreed as well.

He also wanted to see what these people were up to.

The two boarded the plane, and the cabin door closed.

The plane then quickly took off and sped towards the Pacific Ocean.

During the flight, no one spoke, and the atmosphere inside the cabin felt somewhat oppressive.

Azu anxiously watched the clouds rushing past the window, wondering whether he should notify Peter.

Bruce appeared to be resting with his eyes closed, but his brain was actually working at a rapid pace, thinking about his next move while integrating the known information.

After an unknown amount of time, the plane began its descent.

Piercing through the clouds, an island appeared below, shrouded in a strange energy field and almost imperceptible from the outside.

At the center of the island stands a massive high-tech building complex, with a striking black eagle logo emblazoned on the helipad.

Welcome to Black Hawk Island.

Kendra stood up and explained to the two men, "This is our headquarters."

Black Hawk Island?

Bruce frowned slightly upon hearing the name of the island.

A few minutes later, Azu and Bruce, led by members of the Anti-Doomsday Squad, disembarked from the plane and entered the base.

The passageways inside the base are simple and cold, full of military style.

After walking for a few minutes, the group entered the command center, which was filled with various monitoring screens and holographic projections.

Azu surveyed the high-tech equipment around him, while Bruce turned his gaze toward Kendra.

"Now can you explain to us what happened, Ms. Sanders?"

Kendra nodded. "Of course, that's why I invited you."

"Our Earth is far more complex than the average person realizes."

As he spoke, Kendra waved his hand and brought up a holographic image of Earth, marked with many glowing points.

"Earth contains many 'anomalies' that exist outside of normal physical laws—Paradise Island, Skull Island (Dinosaur Island), ancient cities deep in the Amazon rainforest... and Black Hawk Island, where we are now. These places often have unique creatures, magic, or technology."

Ah Zu interrupted impatiently: "Get to the point! What exactly is that mountain? Who did this?"

Kendra glanced at him and continued calmly, "We haven't fully confirmed the identity of the mastermind yet, but all the clues point to a threat from outside the world."

She walked to a safe, went through a complicated identity verification process, and took out a metal block that emitted a faint glow.

"And to understand this threat, you must first understand this."

Kendra placed the metal block on the table.

The metal may look unremarkable, but it subtly exudes a force field that distorts the surrounding light.

Bruce, who had been silent all along, finally changed his expression when he saw the metal.

Has he been researching mysterious metals lately?

Are these the metals I'm supposed to be studying?

Suppressing his excitement, Bruce stepped forward, staring intently at the piece of metal, his voice tinged with barely perceptible excitement: "What kind of metal is this?"

Kendra replied, “We call it N metal. It’s the only known piece on Earth, and it contains incomprehensible forces that can overturn all our current scientific knowledge and physical laws. It… seems to be able to affect gravity, dimensions, and even time.”

She paused, then added, "We speculate that it is not a product of Earth, and may not even be matter from this universe."

Kendra then pulled up an extremely complex star chart.

Looking at the star map, Azu discovered that it did not contain stars, but rather countless interconnected yet independent cosmic models, like bubbles.

"This is the multiverse we have observed before."

Kendra pointed to the star map, “There are about 52 known parallel universes, including both matter and antimatter universes, but the source of N metal does not seem to be in any of them.”

"Later, we guessed that since it wasn't on the front, it was probably on the back."

She operated the console and flipped the star chart.

What appeared before Bruce and Azu was no longer the dazzling "bubble," but an endless, bottomless expanse of pure darkness, within which some twisted, decaying star-like structures were vaguely visible. Kendra's voice became low and solemn, "Through the study of ancient texts, we speculate that on the opposite side of the universe, there exists a realm we have never truly encountered—the Dark Multiverse."

“We believe that beyond the matter-antimatter universe, there exists a dark dimension composed of dark matter (or some kind of more fundamental negative energy), and N metal is likely from there, or is the key to opening the door to that dimension.”

After Kendra finished speaking, the command center fell into a deathly silence.

This wasn't the first time Azu had heard the concept of the Dark Multiverse; Peter had briefly mentioned it to him before.

Bruce was hearing about the Dark Multiverse for the first time, and his expression grew increasingly solemn.

After Kendra waited for the two to process what he had said, he continued, "We studied a great deal of ancient texts and prophecies and found that all these signs of invasion point to a ferocious beast that walks in the darkness—Barbatos."

She pulled up some blurry, yet sinister, ancient murals and written records.

“And what’s even more astonishing,” Kendra said, his gaze sharpening as he looked at Bruce, “is that the documented information suggests that the one guiding these enemies from the dark universe, the one leading Barbatos… is Batman!”

Upon hearing Kendra say that Batman was Barbatos's mentor, Azu frowned and turned his gaze to Bruce.

Although he still didn't like Bruce very much, the two had known each other since childhood, and he knew that Bruce could never become a collaborator.

After coughing, Azu asked Bruce in a low voice with ill intent, "Is this the thing you've been secretly researching lately? Have you turned yourself into a traitor?"

the other side.

The atmosphere in the command center began to change as Kendra declared Batman to be the "guide."

Several agents who had been standing around waiting for orders almost simultaneously raised their energy weapons, pointing their guns at Bruce.

However, before the members of the Doomsday Squad could make a move, Azu reacted first.

Although he usually disliked Bruce, with an external enemy at hand, Azu chose to stand with Bruce against the common foe.

A red flash of light appeared in the eye.

Two blazing, high-temperature rays swept across like whips, moving at unimaginable speeds!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The weapons in the hands of several agents were instantly melted or knocked away, and the people were thrown backward by the huge impact, hitting the wall and losing consciousness.

Kendra seemed to have not expected her subordinates to make a move, and she was so startled by this sudden turn of events that she took a step back.

"Stop!"

"Stop firing! No firing!"

Kendra immediately shouted angrily at his men.

"go!"

Ignoring whether Kendra was acting or not, Azu grabbed Bruce, smashed the reinforced glass window next to them, and jumped directly from the high altitude.

In mid-air, Azu steadied himself and flew at high speed with Bruce on his back, while not forgetting to complain: "I knew it wouldn't be good to hang out with you guys in tight suits!"

Bruce remained unusually calm in his hands and made Azu fly low.

Azu: "."

So you're ordering me around now, aren't you?
Although he was very annoyed, Azu still flew close to the ground with Bruce.

He wanted to see what Bruce was planning to do.

Then, to Azu's astonishment, Bruce used his grappling hook to casually scoop up several animals that don't exist on Earth, stuffing them into a multi-functional pocket of his bat suit, while also holding a small dinosaur-like creature in his arms.

Azu asked Bruce in shock, "You fucking steal animals?! Was that part of your plan?!"

Bruce didn't answer, but a slight smile appeared on the corner of his mouth beneath the mask.

Amidst Azu's bewildered and shocked expression, the two broke through Black Hawk Island's protective energy field and disappeared into the vast Pacific Ocean.

Behind them, the anti-doomsday base, with its sirens blaring, grew ever more distant.

Afternoon, at Patrick Farm.

Peter lowered his head, his gaze falling on his left wrist.

The slender hand on the dial is almost touching the finish line, with only a tiny distance remaining, foreshadowing the imminent arrival of the next "father of sorrow".

Normally, such moments would fill him with a mix of nervousness and anticipation, but this time, Peter's heart was heavy with worry.

With the shadow of impending darkness looming, the arrival of the Father of Sorrow is not a good time.

"Knock! Knock! Knock!"

Suddenly, a soft, rhythmic knocking interrupted his chaotic thoughts.

"Please come in, Raven."

Peter turned around, rubbed his face, and composed himself.

The door was gently pushed open, and Raven appeared in the doorway.

Raven wore a simple dark long dress, with her hood pulled up as usual, covering most of her face except for her beautifully shaped jawline and pale purple lips.

As the daughter of a demon, she was naturally sensitive to emotions and negative energy. At this moment, she could feel more clearly the tangible anxiety surrounding Peter.

"Father."

Raven's voice was filled with concern, "Are you alright?"

"Well, I'm fine."

Peter nodded and then asked her about serious matters: "How are Zatanna and the vixen? And Tommy and Billy? Are they adjusting to life in Asgard?"

To ensure the safety of the two infants Wanda created, Peter sent the fox spirit and Zatanna to Asgard, the realm of the gods hidden within the World Tree.

To ensure their safety, Peter also had Raven escort them there.

Asgard within the World Tree has a barrier that, theoretically, can temporarily isolate it from the encroachment of the Dark Multiverse.

Raven nodded somewhat dejectedly: "Yes, Father, there's no problem. Tommy and Billy seem to really enjoy it there; they look even happier than at the farm."

This is the first time a child has disliked the farm but preferred the world inside the World Tree. Raven, who considers herself the heir to the farm, is very unhappy!
She paused, forcibly clearing her mind of the jumbled thoughts. The shadow beneath the hood shifted slightly, as if observing Peter's expression, before she asked:

“Father, what are you... worried about? Is this crisis really so different? You not only sent the children away, but you also sent Persephone to Asgard.”

Peter looked into Raven's eyes and nodded.

“Yes, Raven, this time it’s completely different.”

Peter's voice was low, and his gaze seemed to pierce through the walls, seeing the terrifying scene approaching.

“We have faced many powerful enemies, including Stephen Strange who fell into darkness… but what is coming is a twisted force originating from the Dark Multiverse itself.”

"That is a dimension filled with failure, nightmares and despair. Its invasion is not the ambition of a single individual, but the collapse of the entire reality. The next enemy will be more powerful and more... incomprehensible than the Black Strange. They are the twisters of the rules, the embodiment of nightmares."

He looked at Raven. "I let them leave because the farm, and even the entire universe, may no longer be safe in the coming storm."

Raven remained silent for a moment.

"I understand, Father."

Raven's voice became even softer, "Actually... I've also been feeling a strong sense of unease. In the past few days, when I try to meditate, some terrifying visions keep surfacing deep within my soul."

She raised her hand and gently pressed it against her chest: "I felt a huge shadow, like wings hanging from the sky, covering the entire sky. The shape of the shadow was like a giant bat. It exuded endless sorrow, rage and destructive desire. It was a darkness that could devour the light."

A giant bat?
Listening to his eldest daughter's description, Peter's expression became extremely solemn, and he nodded.

“A giant bat… I understand, this confirms my fears.”

He forced himself to calm down, his mind racing as he considered coping strategies.

If the future holds as I saw on the "Golden Toilet," with the power of the Dark Multiverse combined with the corrupting influence of the Warhammer universe, this enemy should be even stronger and more difficult to deal with than before.

Just as Peter was deep in thought, a sudden idea popped into his mind.

He suddenly looked up at Raven, "Wait... Raven, where's Azu?"

I don't know what's wrong with that kid; he went out with a long face, and hasn't he come back yet?
Raven was taken aback by Peter's sudden question; she had clearly only just noticed it herself.

“Ah Zu? I haven’t seen him at the farm either…”

Just as the father and daughter were staring at each other, Peter suddenly sensed something and looked up toward Gotham.

Raven seemed to sense something too, her brow furrowing. "Dad, something terrible has descended!"
