Chapter 1047 Fathers of Sorrow, Your Fathers Have Returned!
The four quickly suppressed the barbarians, but due to their sheer number and ferocity, they surged forth like an endless tide.
Peter, who had arrived in time, immediately joined the battle.
His figure appeared instantly between Diana and the Berserker's charging path, and the moment he landed, he slammed violently onto the ground on both sides.
In an instant, an invisible yet overwhelmingly powerful force erupted from him.
"Boom!!!"
Centered on Peter's landing point, the solid ground within a radius of several meters arched upwards as if it had been struck by an earthquake.
A massive, spiderweb-like network of cracks spread out instantly.
The violent shockwave, mixed with gravel and mud, surged outwards like a tsunami.
Several elite barbarian warriors who had followed the berserker leader in the charge were thrown back by the terrifying ground shockwave before they could even scream.
The figure, seemingly the leader of the berserkers, roared and slammed his giant axe into the ground in an attempt to steady himself.
The immense force caused the ground beneath his feet to crack again, his massive body to sway violently, his knees buckling sharply, almost causing him to kneel on the ground.
But he still managed to withstand the first wave of impact.
However, before he could pull out his giant axe and stand up straight again, a silver light carrying an all-encompassing will, like sunlight piercing through the dawn, tore through the chaotic smoke and bloody air.
The divine energy released by Peter exerted a powerful pressure that made the space itself tremble.
The radiance, condensed to its extreme and seemingly capable of piercing through the stars, roared out and tore through space.
The last thing the berserker leader saw was a silver energy that devoured everything.
He was completely annihilated before he could even make any blocking or dodging movements.
All that remained was a bottomless hole; the berserker leader had vanished completely.
In an instant, deathly silence enveloped the entire battlefield.
Whether it was the barbarians slaughtering wildly, the villagers fleeing in despair, or even Ciri, Diana, and others engaged in fierce battle, all paused for a moment.
The barbarian tribes on the other side instantly lost their fierce momentum.
Someone let out a terrified howl, which, as if signaling a retreat, caused the remaining barbarian warriors to completely lose their will to fight. They dropped their weapons and fled for their lives toward the woods outside the village.
Artoria, standing behind Peter, stared in shock at everything before her.
She hadn't expected Peter to display such incredible power.
I originally thought Peter was a god of sleep or a mage.
So he was a berserker too?
Artoria stared at Peter in astonishment.
Just how many secrets does this man hold?
A few minutes later.
Peter sat by the campfire, pressing his palm firmly on Ciri's shoulder.
The witcher girl was baring her teeth and trying to break free from his grasp.
The wound on her left arm, covered by the soft glow emanating from Peter's palm, was visibly healing, with new granulation tissue rapidly filling the gap.
"Ouch—be gentle, sir, it hurts a little."
Ciri gasped in pain and couldn't help but say to Peter.
Although she said it hurt a lot, the genuine joy of seeing him deep in Ciri's eyes was impossible to hide.
"It'll be ready soon."
Peter subconsciously softened his movements.
Peter was healing Ciri's wounds when Artoria stood a few steps away.
She had simply cleaned the bloodstains and dust off her armor with the stream water, and her long golden hair was tied up again, revealing her smooth forehead.
She stood ramrod straight, possessing the composed demeanor of a knight king, remaining as steadfast as a mountain even after experiencing a great storm in her heart.
Peter withdrew his hand from Ciri's shoulder; the wound had healed, leaving only a new pink scar.
Ciri moved her arm, surprised that the pain had almost disappeared, and then looked at Artoria with undisguised curiosity in her eyes.
Meanwhile, Diana's gaze fell on Artoria.
She could clearly sense the powerful aura of ancient divinity emanating from the other person.
Jane, with a more inquisitive gaze, lingered on Artoria's armor.
"Everyone."
Peter's voice broke the brief silence as he stepped to the side, revealing Artoria completely to everyone.
His gaze swept over Ciri and the others, finally settling on Artoria. He solemnly introduced her to them, "This is Artoria Pendragon, the Knight-King of Britain."
"Knight King?!"
Ciri almost gasped, her cat-eye eyes instantly shining brightly with excitement.
"King Arthur?! The Sword in the Stone? The Knights of the Round Table? Merlin? Are all those legends true?!"
Ciri asked, both shocked and delighted.
Diana was taken aback when she heard that the other person was King Arthur. Then she nodded slightly to Artoria in respect: "I am Diana Prince, from Paradise Island. Your legend has been heard even in my hometown."
Jane Foster.
Jane extended her hand in a friendly manner, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty."
She pointed to Persephone, "That's Persephone, the former mistress of the underworld, and our great magician, Zatanna Zatara."
Zatanna gave an elegant bow, like someone taking a stage bow, with a smile on her lips: "It's a pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty the Knight King."
Artoria faced the gazes of the crowd, her eyes calmly sweeping over each face.
She then nodded slightly and replied politely, "You flatter me. King Arthur is a thing of the past. The one standing here now is only Artoria. Thank you all for your help to the villagers here."
"Alright, our reminiscing is over."
Peter clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention to himself.
He looked at Ciri, his expression turning serious. "Ciri, we came here from the world of the Mirror Master. Can you take us back?"
The excitement on Ciri's face vanished instantly, replaced by a solemn expression.
She closed her eyes, her brows furrowed, as if sensing something.
A moment later, she opened her eyes, her heterochromatic pupils flashing with a strange light.
“It’s still there, sir. That ‘hollow’ feeling that’s tearing the world apart is still there. The traces we left when we entered this place from the Mirror World haven’t gone far. They’re still moving. The source is in the northwest, about a day and a half’s journey away. It’s heading towards a sparsely populated area with more chaotic magic nodes.”
"With just this anchor point, I can sense the anchor points in different spaces and then return to our world."
"A day and a half?"
Diana pondered for a moment, her gaze sweeping across a northwest direction.
Peter looked around at everyone and said, "Let's go then."
The tracking proved far more difficult than Ciri had anticipated.
That sense of emptiness, like a cunning ghost, wanders through vast forests, desolate swamps, and rugged mountains, constantly changing direction, leaving behind ripples in space so faint they are almost impossible to detect.
It seemed to be deliberately avoiding populated areas, fleeing towards the depths of Dartmoor, the oldest and most magically chaotic wilderness on the British Isles.
After two days and two nights of tireless trekking, finally, in the darkest hour before dawn on the third day, the group reached the edge of a desolate swamp in the heart of Dartmur, surrounded by massive granite formations.
The air was thick with the smell of sulfur and rotting plants, and a dense fog hung in the air.
An eerie silence enveloped the place; even the chirping of insects and the sound of the wind had vanished.
"here!!!"
Ciri pointed to a spot not far above her head.
A narrow spatial rift, its edges flickering with unstable light and its interior displaying rapidly shifting light and shadow, was forcibly torn open.
"Using this spatial rift, we can go back."
Ciri said excitedly to Peter.
Peter nodded, instructing everyone to follow Ciri and use the spacetime rift to travel through time.
Artoria stared in shock at the crack.
She never imagined that such amazing things existed in the world.
"My king, let us part ways here."
Peter nodded slightly to the other person. "Thank you for your help during this time. I must return to my world now."
Although he saved the other person, he had no intention of forcibly pulling them into his world.
Even if the other party is Xiao Mo's biological father.
"No, Peter, my mission is not over yet. I will escort you safely to your world."
Artoria smiled slightly at Peter. "Besides, the Artoria of the past has already died in Camlann. Thank you for letting me see Lancelot's dream. In the dream, Lancelot said that I don't understand people's hearts. He hoped that I would no longer be attached to the king's ruthlessness and hoped that I would live as a human being."
She walked towards Peter, her feet firmly planted on the hard ground.
"Then, let me be willful just this once and complete this journey as a human being!"
Peter paused for a moment when he saw Artoria's outstretched hand, which was covered in protective gear, before taking her hand in his.
Looking at the ahoge (cowlick) sticking up on her head, Peter resisted the urge to touch it and said to her, "It is my honor, Your Majesty."
Peter grabbed Artoria's arm and quickly entered the silver rift. Just as their figures disappeared...
"Boom!!!"
The spatial rift erupted with a final, silent burst of energy that annihilated everything.
A dark sphere that swallowed all light suddenly collapsed inward, then expanded violently.
"Boom!!!"
The center of the Dartmur Heights was as if struck by an invisible force.
The terrifying shockwave, mixed with fragments of torn space, spread wildly in all directions in a ring.
The swamp was instantly evaporated, revealing the black rock bed beneath.
The massive granite was pulverized like a toy, and everything in its path was leveled by the shockwave.
I do not know how long it has been.
Gotham, Batcave.
A blinding white emergency light illuminated the vast underground space.
Several figures staggered out from the spatial ripples that had just stabilized.
Diana was the first to regain her balance, while Jane leaned against the wall, panting heavily.
Ciri was panting heavily, her face pale and her forehead covered in cold sweat.
Zatanna's top hat was askew, and her face was somewhat pale.
Peter released the Queen Knight from his embrace, his eyes scanning the familiar yet unfamiliar space to confirm the coordinates were correct.
"Is this Bruce's Bat Cave?"
Ciri asked in surprise, "Why has it become somewhat different?"
She frowned, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes.
They are indeed different.
The smell of disinfectant in the air seemed too strong, and there were some fine marks on the metal walls that looked like they had been burned by some kind of strong acid or corrosive liquid.
A thin layer of dust had accumulated on the console, as if it hadn't been properly maintained for some time.
More importantly, there was an indescribable stillness.
"Start environment scan, time calibration, and external monitoring access."
Peter walked up to the supercomputer and used the highest-level voice commands set by Bruce.
The synthesized voice immediately responded: "Command confirmed, scan initiated... Time calibration complete: Current Gotham time, 3:47 AM, external environmental monitoring in progress... Warning: High concentration of biological contaminant particles and abnormal energy radiation detected, activating filtering and enhancement mode."
The main screen lit up instantly.
The first thing that catches the eye is the iconic, towering skyscrapers of Gotham City.
However, the silhouette is not bathed in the familiar sea of neon lights.
A moon, radiating an ominous dark red light, hung in the sky.
The moonlight shone eerily, casting a suffocating atmosphere over the entire city of Gotham.
Enhanced by the intelligent system, the screen image penetrated the blood-red mist, clearly presenting the city scene to everyone.
The city was in ruins.
The burning wreckage resembled a giant bonfire, billowing thick smoke.
The glass curtain wall was shattered, and the street was littered with garbage, discarded items, and some barely recognizable dark red stains.
There was no one on the street, except for the occasional dark figure flashing by in the shadows.
Peter, puzzled, immediately zoomed in on the monitor screen and spotted the shape of one of the dark figures.
The other party had a humanoid outline, but its skin was sickly grayish-white, its muscles were disproportionately bulging, and sharp claws extended from its fingertips.
"What...what is this?!"
Jane Foster's voice was filled with disbelief, and she instinctively tightened her grip on the Meowth Hammer.
"Blood clan?"
Zatanna's voice lost its usual elegance and became solemn.
Artoria stood quietly a little behind the others, looking at the mysterious and incomprehensible high technology before her.
The screen was already shocking enough for her, but what shocked her even more was the steel forest shrouded in blood moonlight on the screen.
The dilapidated city, permeated with an atmosphere of despair and madness, was far beyond what she, as the "Queen of Britain," could have imagined.
"This……"
Artoria asked, shocked and bewildered, "...Is this...your world, Peter?"
Peter shook his head seriously. "No, not entirely. Something must have happened."
He walked step by step toward the main control console.
The metal floor groaned beneath his feet as he reached out and pressed hard on a hidden physical button.
"Bruce Wayne's highest-privilege log call, keyword: emergency."
Peter, in a deep voice, retrieved Bruce's journal.
The screen was instantly replaced by an encrypted stream of characters, and then a severely damaged video, with static and interference stripes on the screen and intermittent sound, appeared.
The screen shook violently, revealing Bruce's iconic black armor.
"Record."
Bruce's voice was terribly hoarse, "...They...aren't traditional vampires. It's like they've combined genetic engineering, ancient dark magic, or maybe some kind of alien virus. And they're infecting more superheroes. Now that the Godfather's not here, I'm really worried if Azu and the others get out of control."
A piercing electromagnetic noise drowned out Bruce's words, and the screen was plunged into a blur of static and darkness.
"It seems the situation is worse than we thought."
Peter turned around and said to Ciri and the others with a serious expression, "Let's go back to the farm first."
He had a bad feeling; something was probably wrong at the farm too.
Just one day before Peter returned.
Raven's assault team sailed to the headquarters of the Vampire King.
The night in Gotham was already soaked in crimson.
Under the watchful gaze of the eerie red moon overhead, the Thames flowed with a dark liquid that gleamed with an ominous light.
The air was filled with the suffocating smell of rust and rotting matter.
A crudely modified black speedboat, coated with radar-resistant material, sliced through the murky water like a ghost.
At the bow of the ship, Raven was wrapped in a large, dark purple hooded cloak, the shadow of the hood almost completely obscuring her face, revealing only her tightly pursed thin lips.
Black Canary gripped the helm tightly, his eyes fixed on the indistinct outline of Gotham ahead.
Harley Quinn, on the other hand, was sitting at the stern of the boat, holding her baseball bat, with her legs dangling in the air.
Her signature clown makeup was smudged with sweat, and her braids looked a little messy.
Those blue eyes, which always gleamed with a mad light, were now somewhat unfocused as they gazed at the distorted silhouette of the city under the blood moon in the distance.
"Take a 15-degree turn to port, avoid that oil slick area; there's a mine array below."
Barbara's voice came through.
Diana jerked the rudder sharply, and the speedboat nimbly slid to the side, narrowly avoiding the oil-slicked waters.
“Three minutes to enter the core alert zone,” Barbara continued, her voice even more tense. “The energy readings are soaring; they know we’re here.”
"Om-!"
No sooner had Barbara finished speaking than a golden lightning bolt tore through the blood-red night sky without warning.
The violent energy, carrying a destructive pressure, instantly locked onto the speedboat traveling at high speed.
"Black Adam!"
Diana screamed and slammed the steering wheel to its limit, trying to avoid the incoming lightning.
"Keep sailing, Black Canary!"
Raven slowly raised her head and spoke to the black canary.
"It's no use for Dad's defeated foe to become a vampire. Let me deal with him."
Beneath the shadow of the hood, a pair of purple eyes suddenly lit up.
Raven simply stretched out one hand toward the devastating golden lightning bolt that was shooting toward her.
But the instant she reached out her hand, a magic circle shimmering with a ghostly purple light silently unfolded in the void, centered on her fingertips.
The magic circle's patterns were twisted and mysterious, with what appeared to be a rotating miniature black hole at its center.
The lightning bolt, powerful enough to destroy a ship, vanished the moment it struck the magic circle, like a stone sinking into the sea.
The raging lightning twisted and turned wildly, emitting a silent roar, before being instantly swallowed by the magic circle.
