Chapter 1033 Green Arrow's Anti-Vampire Squad
Chapter 1033 Green Arrow's Anti-Vampire Squad
The female fox, who had a bad feeling about the farm's former steward, is preparing to return.
Unexpectedly, the next second, a "buzz" sound, sharp enough to pierce eardrums, exploded above her head without warning.
McBee grunted, his powerful beastly instincts instantly activated.
The cheetah's phantom image flashed past her, granting her lightning-fast reflexes and speed, and she suddenly rolled to the side and backward.
"Oh!"
The ground where she had just been standing was blasted away by the sound waves, collapsing a large section of it.
The female fox landed, nimbly rolled to dissipate the impact, and her eyes instantly locked onto the attacker—a blonde woman wearing the signature black fishnet stockings, standing on the rooftop.
It's Black Canary Dina Lance!
The female fox immediately recognized the other party's identity.
"Black Canary!"
The female fox growled, "What's wrong with you?!"
The black canary did not answer, its eyes wary, as if scrutinizing the most dangerous prey.
A moment later, she said to the vixen and Barbara, “I’m not crazy. Gotham is now a giant vampire den, and you two happened to be in the worst place at the worst time, and you even got involved with that ‘Ratcatcher’ who was almost torn to pieces. So, I suspect you are vampires.”
"You're just making things up without any evidence?"
The female fox glared at her angrily.
"evidence?"
Black Canary scoffed, "Until we've confirmed you're clean, no one is an ally. Batman can't be trusted, Patrick's Farm can't be trusted either. Who knows if you 'outsiders' are in cahoots with the vampires?"
The female fox thought this woman deserved a beating. "You acted on mere suspicion? It seems that as a member of Patrick's Farm, I'll teach you a lesson for your recklessness."
Before she finished speaking, the female fox pounced on the black canary.
The cheetah's agility granted her terrifying speed, instantly transforming her into a blur as she pounced on her opponent.
The black canary's eyes narrowed, and it unleashed a sonic attack on the female fox.
But the female fox was too fast and narrowly escaped her sonic attack.
In the blink of an eye, the fox's phantom claws, accompanied by a whistling sound, slammed down on her.
The black canary arched its body backward, performing a difficult backflip to avoid the claw attack, while its legs lashed out like a scorpion's tail, fiercely striking the female fox's chest.
"Oh!"
The female fox crossed her arms to block, managing to withstand the heavy kick, the immense force causing her to take a half-step back.
The two engaged in a dangerous close-quarters fight on the streets of Gotham.
Barbara and the "rat catcher" watched in stunned silence.
The female fox quickly turned her head and dodged the black canary's attack.
In that split second, a glint flashed in the black canary's eyes, and a syringe appeared in his right hand, which he thrust towards the female fox.
"puff!"
With an extremely slight piercing sound, the sharp needle of the syringe pierced the deltoid muscle of the female fox's right upper arm.
"Uh!"
The female fox felt a numbness in her arm, and the blood in her right hand was instantly drained by the other party.
The black canary struck successfully and then left without lingering.
She leaped backward, releasing a sonic wave from her mouth and blasting it towards the ground beneath the female fox's feet.
"Oh!"
A large hole was blown open in the floor, and debris and smoke filled the air.
Under the cover of smoke and dust, the black canary vanished without a trace, like a ghost.
The female fox clutched her arm where she had been stabbed; a tiny red dot remained, and the numbness was spreading rapidly.
She stared in the direction the black canary had disappeared, her eyes filled with confusion.
Why would this woman draw her own blood?!
Meanwhile, at an even more remote abandoned gas station on the outskirts of Gotham City.
Rainwater gushed down from the eaves, forming a muddy stream on the ground.
In a relatively dry repair shed behind the gas station, filled with discarded tires, a faint light was on.
Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, leans against an oil-stained workbench, carefully wiping his recurve bow with a velvet cloth.
His assistant, Roy Harper, the "Arsenal," sat on an overturned oil drum.
His lost right arm was replaced by a sophisticated robotic arm.
At this moment, the robotic arm's fingers are deftly manipulating an open metal toolbox, seemingly adjusting some small device.
The atmosphere inside the shed was silent and tense, with only the sound of rain and Roy adjusting the equipment.
With a creak, the half-closed metal door of the repair shed was silently pushed open.
A nimble figure flashed in, bringing with it the cold wind and dampness from outside. It was none other than the Black Canary, Dina Lance, who had just escaped.
She quickly closed the door behind her, leaning against it and breathing slightly, her golden hair a little messy and her tight-fitting battle suit covered in dust.
"How about it?"
Green Arrow stopped wiping his bow and asked her. Black Canary didn't answer, but walked up to Oliver and carefully took out a small glass tube from a specially made metal box at her waist.
On the inside of the tube, a few drops of bright red blood were clearly visible.
"got it."
She handed the glass tube to Oliver. "It's the blood of a female fox. The process wasn't very friendly; she almost tore me apart."
Oliver took the glass tube, examined the blood sample inside carefully under the light to confirm that it was uncontaminated, and then placed it into a slot for a portable analyzer on the workbench.
The instrument screen immediately lit up and began a complex scanning analysis.
How did she react?
Roy looked up, the robotic arm stopped moving, and looked at Diana.
“Angry, incredulous, calling me crazy.”
Diana sat down on the empty oil drum next to Roy, picked up a bottle of water, unscrewed it, and took a few gulps. "She insists that animal spirits guided her to Gotham, but I don't trust my intuition, especially at a time like this. Maybe she really is a vampire."
"Danger is relative."
Oliver's gaze remained fixed on the analyzer screen as he said to Canary, "The key is to confirm whether she is infected."
"Any results?" Diana asked, looking at the analyzer.
"Rapid antigen and abnormal metabolite screening is in progress, which will take a few minutes."
Oliver stared at the scrolling data stream on the screen. "Tell me what you see in Gotham."
"It sucks."
Diana's expression was grave. "Vampires aren't appearing sporadically; they're hunting in groups, in an organized manner! Their targets are diverse, ranging from street thugs to third-rate villains. I stumbled upon them besieging 'Ratcatcher' and almost succeeded."
"They are fast, strong, and highly resistant to ordinary physical attacks and electric shocks. Their weaknesses match the legends—ultraviolet rays, silver, and holy water, but these aren't very effective. I guess the higher the level of the vampire being transformed, the less afraid they are of these things."
Roy's robotic arm made a slight clicking sound as it spoke, "It matches the information we pried out of that idiot 'Clock King'."
When "King of Clockwork" was mentioned, Oliver recalled a scene that had occurred a few days earlier.
A few days ago, when the first signs of abnormality appeared in Gotham, Oliver keenly noticed something unusual.
While tracking a lead on an underground organ trafficking network, he unexpectedly stumbled upon "The Bell"—William Tucker—who was lurking suspiciously near the entrance to Gotham's sewers.
This third-rate villain, known for creating all sorts of boring noise devices, was in a very abnormal state at the time—his face was deathly pale, his eyes were sunken, and there were suspicious dark red stains on the corners of his mouth as he muttered to himself.
When King Zhong spotted Green Arrow, instead of running away, he pounced on him like a mad dog, shouting "Fresh!" and biting him.
Oliver easily subdued him and tied him up like a dumpling with rope.
The ensuing "interrogation" was unusually simple. King Bell, dominated by hunger and the chaotic instincts brought about by the Embrace, answered almost every question, spilling out everything he knew like a torrent of beans.
He incoherently recounted how he was transformed by a guy "wearing a black cloak, his face hidden in the shadows, and his voice like sandpaper grinding stone," and how he was ordered to "clean up" some specific, obstructive low-level characters (because "they were too noisy" or "blocked the way").
He mentioned "new master," "grand plan," and "hunting list," but the specifics were unclear and confusing.
It was King Bell's instructions that allowed Oliver to know about the vampire incident before anyone else.
He also secretly followed the clues left by Andrew and discovered that the other party had infiltrated the heavily guarded Wayne Manor.
Not long after, Andrew vanished without a trace, and then the vampire attacks in Gotham erupted in full force.
All of this led Green Arrow to believe that Wayne Manor was also involved, and that Bruce might have been converted.
Batman, Bruce Wayne, that controlling and cunning guy, how much does he really know?
Was he also infiltrated?
Oliver instinctively distrusted this kind of "smart person".
Especially in the face of such a supernatural disaster that defies common sense.
So Green Arrow, along with his absolutely trusted assistant Roy and his lover Dinah, cut off all known communication channels and went into complete darkness.
He was like a hunter lurking in the shadows, gathering information and making independent judgments.
The black canaries attacking female foxes to collect blood samples is part of this plan—to establish their own "purification" testing standards.
"Analysis complete."
Oliver's voice interrupted Roy and Dinah's thoughts.
The two immediately looked at the analyzer screen. The complex graphs and data streams on the screen finally froze, and a clear green word appeared—negative.
"call……"
Diana let out a long sigh of relief, her tense shoulders relaxing. "It's alright."
"The female fox is currently clean."
Oliver turned off the analyzer, carefully sealed the glass tube containing the blood sample, and placed it in a special refrigerator box.
"But this is just the beginning. Gotham's vampires are organized and have a purpose. They seem to be eliminating certain targets while trying to avoid conflict with other 'vampires'."
"Like... marking off territory? Or carrying out some kind of internal cleanup?"
Roy speculated.
"We cannot be certain yet."
Green Arrow picked up his recurve bow and looked out at the night sky. "But now the vampires are in the light, and we are in the shadows. That's our advantage."
