Jingxia Rose

Chapter 28: What Cannot Be Forced

Chapter 28: What Cannot Be Forced

The bunch of white roses looked freshly picked; they were very vibrant, with a few water droplets still clinging to the petals.

The roses in the living room, dining room, and bedroom are changed every Monday. This was specially arranged with the rose garden. Every week when Canglanju goes out to buy flowers, they bring this bouquet back with them.

Whenever Ji Xuan saw white roses, he would always accept them with a smile, then take down the nearly wilted white roses, wash the vase, and trim and arrange the new white roses.

This can be considered a kind of leisurely and elegant pursuit.

But now, Ji Xian felt nothing. His eyes were calm as water, with a few traces of indifference. "Just leave it there. I'll deal with it when I'm done."

Aunt Zhao was taken aback, realizing that Ji Xian wasn't in a good mood.

She responded with a soft "Yes," and as she turned around, she suddenly heard Ji Xuan say, "Let's cancel this order with Rose Garden. We won't need it anymore."

Aunt Zhao asked in surprise, "Is the flower not fresh, Miss Ji?"

"No, the flowers are beautiful." Ji Xuan glanced at the flowers and shook his head gently. "I just don't like them as much anymore, so I don't need them anymore."

Aunt Zhao hesitated, then reluctantly agreed and left.

Distracted by the bouquet of roses, Ji Xian lost interest in looking at the foreign language translation on her tablet. She looked up and saw the crabapple blossoms outside, and before she knew it, she was lost in thought again.

That bouquet of pristine white roses was completely forgotten and left to dry.

Aunt Zhao helped me change it later.

In the afternoon, the two discussed the Shanglin project proposal in the study when Wen Qi received a call from Yi Xu.

Yi Xu and Wen Qi have known each other since childhood and have always had a good relationship. Yi Xu can be said to be Wen Qi's only friend, and Yi Xu was the first person to know about their relationship.

Wen Qi would bring her along to every meal the two of them had, so she and Yi Xu became quite familiar with each other.

But she had no intention of listening to their conversation right now. Seeing that the cup was empty, she simply picked it up and said, "I'll go get some water. You two keep talking."

Wen Qi glanced at her retreating figure and frowned slightly.

I felt like something was off about her, but when I tentatively asked her about it at noon, Ji Xian just smiled and brushed it off.

Did Ruan Zheng's emotional turmoil yesterday have such a big impact on her?
Ji Xuan poured water downstairs and waited a few minutes before going upstairs. When he got to the door, he could still hear the conversation inside, so he knew the phone call hadn't ended yet.

Just as she was hesitating whether to go in, Wen Qi's voice came out, "She and Jin Chengye are divorced."

Yi Xu on the other end of the phone said something, but she only heard Wen Qi's voice turn somber, "Isn't remarriage normal?"

After a few seconds of pause, he added, "Get the ring sorted out as soon as possible."

remarry?

ring?

Yi's mainly deals in high-end jewelry and is an international brand.

Ji Xuan's heart tightened slightly, and he almost dropped the water glass in his hand, but fortunately only some water spilled.

She had eavesdropped twice, but it felt like two bolts of lightning had struck her hard.

Ji Xian gave a bitter smile, closed his eyes, and pushed the door open to go inside.

Upon hearing the noise, Wen Qi abruptly stopped talking on the phone, glanced at Ji Xuan, and hurriedly hung up.

It was rare to see a guilty look on his face.

Ji Xuan placed the water glass on the table and expressionlessly took out a tissue to wipe the water stains off the back of his hand.

Wen Qi was also preparing a surprise for the first time, and afraid that she would hear it, he awkwardly changed the subject, saying, "Yi Xu is back from abroad and said we should get together tomorrow at Junlang."

Ji Xian clenched his fists at his sides.

The more unnatural he appeared, the more glaring it seemed to her.

Those shaky 30 points were now slowly fading away. Actually, if Wen Qi were to break up with her now, besides feeling sad and embarrassed, she would accept it calmly.

So, here, for some reason, I always feel like the mountain rain has just stopped, the clouds have parted to reveal the sun, and a long-awaited rain has come after a drought.

Perhaps it's a sense of relief.

Emotional matters are the most complicated and tangled things.

You can't ask for more.

She gently shook her head, avoiding Wen Qi's eyes, and said with a faint smile, "Time flies. It's been almost a year since Young Master Yi went to Italy. You two haven't seen each other for quite a while, so I won't bother you."

Yi Xu signed a project deal in Italy last year and has been working on it there for the past year.

Wen Qi glanced at her serene and plain face, pursed his lips, and assumed that she was afraid of too many people and did not want to bother with them, so he explained, "It's just the three of us, there's no one else."

Yi Xu is a playful and mischievous person, always unrestrained, and has many friends of questionable character around him.

He was nicknamed the "Prince of Nightclubs" within the industry.

Most of the drinking parties he hosts are attended by wealthy young men and socialites from the entertainment industry.

Wen Qi was his best friend, but he preferred quiet and didn't really like this kind of circle. He would occasionally show up to sit for a while and have a drink or two. Sometimes, when Yi Xu only invited a few close brothers, he would bring Ji Xuan along.

He hasn't been in Beijing for a year, and it seems that even the atmosphere in his circle has become much less lively.

The other young men who were on fairly good terms with them often asked Wen Qi out, but Wen Qi was a workaholic and was busy nine times out of ten. The other time, he would just have a simple meal with them and not go to entertainment venues.

"Tomorrow is Wanwan's birthday, and I promised to spend it with her."

This was just an excuse she made up on the spot.

Actually, her birthday is at the end of the year.

He nodded and called out, "Give her my best wishes for a happy birthday."

Wen Qixiang has always respected her private space. Whether at work or in private, he has always been the epitome of a gentleman.

Give her full respect and dignity.

Aside from not loving her, he did a pretty good job in every other way.

They had been together for four years, and Shi Wan had actually met Wen Qi three times. The first time was when they first got together, when Wen Qi invited her to dinner. The second time was three years ago on New Year's Eve, when she and Shi Wan had lunch together, and Wen Qi came to pick her up in the afternoon to go to the old house for New Year's Eve dinner. The third time was at Ji Xian's birthday party last year.

Shi Wan said that, putting aside his romantic partner, Wen Qi was an upright person, and his habits were not at all like those of the spoiled young masters in Beijing's elite circles, but he was also the other extreme.

Too rigid.

Perhaps the Wen family set many rules for him from a young age, and he always followed them, never thinking of going astray or breaking the rules.

Even dating follows what he considers the proper procedures for dating.

The next morning, Ji Xuan arrived at the entrance of Shi Wan's residential area in a ride with Wen Qi, carrying a gift and a cake.

The gift was a luxury watch that I casually picked out from the jewelry box in the dressing room.

The cake was made by Aunt Zhao this morning. It wasn't big, but it was exquisite. She said it was made at Wen Qi's request.

He was very considerate in these trivial matters.

Shi Wan was a little confused when she saw the two items. "What are you doing?"

"It's for your birthday." Ji Xian stuffed the things into her hands and went into the house on his own.

Shi Wan blinked doubtfully, "Is today my birthday?"

How come she, the person involved, doesn’t know about this?
Or have you gone crazy from staying up so late these past few days that you've lost your sense of time?
