What I Saw in Chapter 150

The merchant was nonchalant about fishing, but he put a lot of effort into grilling the fish. Although he knew it wouldn't taste good, his grilling skills were still quite proficient.

Shen Luo arrived in a huff, clearly having failed in negotiations, and was in a terrible mood.

Cheng Mai: "You lost the fight?"

"What on earth is that? He actually said I would die without a burial place in the near future. Where did this Taoist priest come from?" Shen Luo said angrily.

Cheng Mai was startled and subconsciously looked at Shang Xingjian.

Xuanji doesn't give fortune readings casually, but once he does, he's absolutely right.

Shang Xingjian handed the grilled fish to Cheng Mai, saying, "Why would you listen to an old Taoist priest? Do you think I'm dead? As long as I'm alive, you won't die."

After explaining briefly, the merchant kindly handed one of his grilled fish to Shen Luo, saying, "To calm your nerves."

Shen Luo immediately took a step back. This wasn't calming her nerves; it was life-threatening!

"Thank you, but it's not necessary." The boss was cooking, and the world seemed to lose its color.

"You have no taste." Shang Xingjian didn't make things difficult for her, but simply said, "Just do what you want to do, and ignore whatever others say."

Cheng Mai: "..."

Shen Luo: "..."

The boss is getting more and more outspoken; he really doesn't hold back when he says things like that.

"What do I have to do?" Shen Luo couldn't think of what he had to do for a moment.

"Is the list of spirits complete? Are the signal towers finished? Is the system built?"

"I'm going right now, I'm going right now." Shen Luo picked at his ear, which had been yelled at, and ran off decisively.

After Shen Luo ran away, Cheng Mai was still looking at Shang Xingjian. "What did Xuanji mean by that? And what do you mean by that? Don't say that Xuanji miscalculated, and don't say that Xuanji was trying to scare her." Shang Xingjian knew she would ask this question, so she remained calm and composed.

"It's just fortune telling, a deduction, not a conclusion," Shang Xingjian explained calmly. "Putting everything else aside, the world is at peace now, so who would rather die a horrible death?"

"Is it really peaceful?" Cheng Mai pressed.

If things were truly peaceful, why would he be so eager to push the Xuanhe Group forward, something that would normally take decades or even centuries to accomplish in just a few years?

"Shanghang Jian, what did you see?"

The merchant accepted the fishing rod, but it was empty.

He stared intently at the fishing rod, seemingly pondering how to answer the question.

What did you see?
He witnessed everyone heading towards death, saw the world wither, and saw the earth lose all its vitality...

He stood in the end, watching everything unfold, seeing everyone get closer and closer to death, yet he was powerless to stop it.

The creator god, the so-called creator god, if he does not destroy the world, where does the creation come from?

After thinking it over, Shang Xingjian cast his fishing rod again. "What you see may not be the truth. Until the very last step, everything is subject to change."

"So what did you see?" Cheng Mai insisted.

Shang Xingjian yawned, lay back on the recliner, and closed his eyes to rest. "I saw a child surrounding his knees, I saw green hills and clear waters, I saw..."

Jupiter.

"I'm sleepy. I'll tell you what I saw after I wake up," Shang Xingjian said, seemingly having truly fallen asleep, his breathing becoming much lighter.

Cheng Mai wasn't angry this time; she just looked at him quietly, trying to find familiar memories in his sleeping face.
