Chapter 146 Someone Goes to Hell

Chapter 146 Someone Goes to Hell

Deer City.

After receiving the letter sent urgently by Wen Shenyou, Prince Wen Ji read it and immediately looked around, and the people around him immediately retreated.

In the past, some letters were usually not reserved for the most trusted subordinates, and usually after opening and reading the letter, they would be handed to a few people to read together.

But this time it was different. There was something extraordinary in the letter. In it, Wen Shenyou repeated what the monk had said to him.

That sentence is: "Punish on behalf of God!"

He who can act on behalf of God,
who is it?

That is the Son of Heaven, the Emperor.

The monk had ulterior motives when he said this.

However, Wen Ji accidentally lit the letter and called the people outside.

"Write a letter to Dalang and ask him to do it."

"Yes."
-
this day.

The market in Gu County, the seat of Ximen County, was crowded with people, especially in front of the open space on the west side of the market.

Today happens to be the day for a market, and the people who come include people from the counties and towns below, as well as merchants from other counties.

But at the same time, there are also some people who come with other purposes.

among these people.

There were servants sent by wealthy families from all over the place, there were local nobles who came in person, and there were even quite a few monks and Taoists.

These people were not there to watch the fun or do business at the market, but because the government was going to execute a group of death row prisoners at the market today.

It's only July, so it shouldn't be autumn yet.

According to convention, death row prisoners can only be executed after the beginning of autumn. It is obvious that this batch of death row prisoners were not ordinary.

Those who were to be killed were all the officials of Chenghan County. The reason why they chose to carry out the execution on such a large scale in the market of Ximen County was to let more people see it.

and.

I heard that this time the execution was not by hanging, but by beheading.

These people all came to watch the beheading.

There was a lot of discussion in the crowd. The sun was shining fiercely on their bodies. Everyone's face was red and they were wiping the sweat off their faces. They stood on tiptoe and squeezed their shoulders. They all looked like they couldn't wait any longer.

"Why hasn't it started yet?"

"Didn't you say you were going to kill him? Why is there no one here?"

"It's said to be afternoon, but it's not time yet."

"I heard that several county magistrates are going to be executed?"

"These people dare to covet any money or grain, not to mention the money they coveted from the prince. The grain was transported by the gods and witches, how could they covet it?"

"That's right, it's just courting death."

"Death? I'm afraid it's not that easy."

At this time, someone in the crowd pointed to a group of monks sitting on the ground chanting on the other side of the market.

"Did you see those monks?"

"I see. How can I say that? Aren't they just a group of monks?"

"Hehe, those monks are going to perform a ritual to send them to the eighteenth level of hell!"

"What, this is true?"

"Of course it's true. Just wait and see. There's going to be a lot of fun today."

Most of these people came to watch the excitement. Originally they wanted to see the excitement of beheadings, but now when they heard that there would be the excitement of going to hell to watch, they became even more excited.

The scorching sun shone down on their bodies and their clothes were soaked with sweat, but it couldn't stop everyone from wanting to watch the fun.

But some other people have more complicated thoughts.

They were the sons of powerful local clans, and there were also servants sent from other places to gather information.

"They just took some money and food, at most some silver and food, and they didn't commit treason, but they are going to be beheaded. This is unheard of. Treating scholars and officials in such a cruel way is really a disgrace to civilization."

"I heard that this is the intention of the gods to send people to the eighteen levels of hell to be punished. They have hit a wall."

"It's more than just a piece of iron. I'm afraid it's like hitting Mount Tai. Who can save them?"

"The gods are too harsh. No one is perfect. As mortals, who can avoid making mistakes?"

"Alas, why don't the gods have any mercy at this time? We usually offer incense and offerings to them."

"Don't talk nonsense, or the ghosts passing by might hear you. I've heard from the monks that after a person dies, all the words and deeds they said in their lifetime will be counted as sins."

At this point, no one dared to speak.

There is an execution going on at the city entrance. Who knows if the ghosts and gods are waiting nearby?

at last.

A large group of soldiers pushed their way through the crowd and cleared a path for them.

Immediately afterwards, one prison van after another was pushed under the wooden platform, and then everyone saw the disheveled death row prisoner being dragged down and taken to the execution ground.

When the time came, a group of people in official uniforms entered the venue.

Wen Shenyou stood in front, and next to him was the deputy driver sent by the governor of Jinzhou, but it seemed that Wen Shenyou was still the leader.

The sun was shining on everyone, and Wen Shenyou was holding a banner and announcing the order of Lucheng County Prince Wen Ji to everyone.

"My Wu Dynasty has strict laws and regulations..."

"Now, officials in Chenghan County, Gu County, and Lanqing County have betrayed the public interest and, in the name of disaster relief, have extorted the people's wealth and oppressed the people... All these evil deeds are numerous and their crimes are extremely serious."

"This governor has received the emperor's order, followed the emperor's will, and has been strict in enforcing the law of the country. I have shouldered the people's expectations and vowed to eradicate corruption."

"Now, based on the solid evidence, the case has been decided according to the law and the main culprit should be severely punished..."

Finally, Wen Shenyou gave the order.

"Immediate execution."

Wen Shenyou waved his hand and the executioner immediately stepped forward. A cold light flashed under the scorching sun.

Blood splattered on the platform and heads fell to the ground.

"it is good!"

"Good good!"

"Good kill!"

Everyone cheered and shouted loudly, their faces turning even redder.

Half of it was due to the sun, and half of it was due to the stimulation of the bloody scenes.

But this was just the beginning, and then everyone saw something even more mysterious.

After beheading.

A group of monks came up and chanted scriptures around the execution ground.

Finally, the monks placed things that looked like lotus lanterns on the heads.

The lotus lantern blossomed and in turn wrapped around the head, holding it together.

Then the monks sat around the lotus lantern and continued chanting until night fell.

The crowd did not leave, just kept watching.

Everyone wants to see it.

How did these people end up in hell?

After night falls.

The monks finally moved. They held up the lotus lanterns and walked towards the canal in the city one after another, as if they were going to perform the final ceremony there.

"Get up, get up."

"Have you finished reading the sutra?"

"Has it been saved?"

"What kind of salvation? That monk is going to send those people to the eighteen levels of hell."

"Does this monk really have such magical powers?"

"It's not that the monks have such magical powers, but those people have committed sins. Where can they go after they go down there? They can only go to the eighteen levels of hell. Are they going to go to the Yellow Spring like that good man?"

The crowd followed in a mighty procession, crossing the stone-paved road and crowding at the river where the people in the city washed their clothes and fetched water every day.

The canals in this city lead directly to Huajiang River, which in turn connects to the main vein of the Yangtze River.

It can be said.

The water here will continue to flow southward, eventually converging into the Yangtze River and flowing into the sea.

"Why are you here?"

"What are you doing by the water?"

"The water is not ordinary."

"Why is water special? Isn't it just water?"

"Life and death are inseparable from water. The water in rivers, lakes and seas can all lead to the netherworld. If this monk really wants to send someone to the netherworld, he should also perform a ritual by the water!"

More and more people gathered by the canal, making a lot of noise.

The monk did not do anything but placed the soul-guiding lamp on the other side of the water.

The lights came on, emitting a crystal red light.

"It's bright, it's bright!"

"How did it light up?"

“I don’t think I saw any fire!”

"Why does this feel a bit like the lotus lantern we put out a few days ago?"

The lantern floated along with the water, and at first glance, it looked just like the lotus lanterns that people had released on the river a few days ago.

Everyone was talking about it, thinking to themselves, could it be that their custom of releasing lotus lanterns came from this?

In this world, lotus lanterns really do have the power to guide ghosts.

Everyone stared at the lotus lantern going away.

Not long after, vague shadows of boats began to float up from the water.

Everyone exclaimed in amazement, and most of them were seeing this thing for the first time.

"what?"

"There seems to be a ship underwater?"

"How could there be a boat under the water?"

"Really, the boat was running under the water and it was shining."

In the dark night, the hazy shadow of the boat floated up and took away the lotus lantern, then sank into the water and disappeared completely.

Many people looked under the water and remembered what someone had just said about water. They immediately felt a sense of awe and fear towards the underwater.

The deep and turbid bottom of the water.

Who knows what is hidden inside and where it leads to.

Is it the land of ghosts, or the underworld?

At this time, for the crowd watching the excitement, everything seemed to be over.

As for the monks, it had just begun. The monks present looked at the monk who picked up the flower, and the monk responded one by one.

"I'll go first."

The monks bowed to the monk holding the flower, as if his departure was a big deal.

"Thank you, Master."

"Congratulations, Master!"

Indeed, the monk went there to prove the true meaning of the law of retribution for good and evil, and to witness the scene of the wicked man being thrown into hell.

Later, it was also recorded in the Buddhist scriptures.

However, at this moment, the people who witnessed this scene were unaware of it, and asked in confusion.

"What else is the monk going to do?"

"I heard that the monk is going to the underworld to send away those evil spirits."

"Hiss, this monk is so powerful, not only can he cast a spell to send people to hell, but he can also travel between the underworld and the living world?"

"That's Master Nihua Seng, a famous great master."

The monk stood on the shore.

He sat cross-legged while chanting scriptures.

In full view of everyone, he put on the evil ghost mask.

Everyone looked at the evil ghost's face and felt it was extremely creepy, but their curiosity was also aroused to the extreme.

Many people have been watching from noon to night, but at this moment they don’t feel tired at all. Instead, they are very excited.

The light flows and the wind moves the soul.

In the eyes of the monk picking flowers.

The moment the scene shifted, he was standing on the other side of the Yellow Springs River, looking at the long river that he could never cross.

But this time he had no intention of crossing the river. Instead, he stood by the river waiting for something.

It didn't take long before he finally got what he was waiting for.

Groups of evil spirits were escorted by ghosts and gods from afar, passing through the dark and deep underworld.

The evil ghosts had just broken free from the cycle of life and death. Many of them were in a daze and had not even realized that they were dead.

"It's so dark, so dark!"

"Ah, what is this place and why am I here?"

"What the hell is that, the one in front."

"This is the underworld. We were beheaded at the execution ground. Don't you remember?"

"Could that person in front of me be a ghost from the underworld?"

"Ghost, spare us, where are you taking us?"

"Where else can we go? It must be the hell in the netherworld."

Chains and shackles were fastened to their ragged clothes, weighing down their heads and making their steps so heavy that they could hardly lift their feet.

But as long as he dared to stop and rest for a while, the devil's whip would fall from high above with lightning and hit them accurately.

"Snapped!"

Then, screams rang out on time.

"what!"

From a distance, the monk heard the evil ghosts' miserable howlings. Turning back, he saw the evil ghosts being whipped by thunder whips, dragged by chains, and coming to the Yellow Springs River.

The evil ghosts came to the monk, screaming and begging for mercy. One of them recognized the monk and immediately knelt on the ground to beg him.

As soon as he moved, he was whipped and dragged towards the river by ghosts and gods.

Among them, the monk also saw the minor official from Chenghan County.

The clerk burst into tears and said to the monk.

"I have an eighty-year-old mother above me, and a ..."

The monk laughed: "That is a matter of life, what does it have to do with you after death? Besides, when you did evil things in life, did you ever think that others also have old mothers and wives and children?"

The monk just watched as the ghost god pulled hard, and the evil ghosts were trapped together by the giant god like a bunch of grasshoppers and were easily dragged onto the boat.

The time has come.

The boat started moving, heading towards the other end of the Yellow Springs River, accompanied by the inhuman laughter of ghosts and the miserable screams of evil spirits.

All the sounds disappeared at the end of the underworld.

The monk looked out into the distance.

Faintly at the end of the underworld, one could see billowing black smoke and flames rising into the sky. It seemed that countless evil spirits were crawling under the black ash and hunching forward in the flames.

The monk was shocked when he saw this, but he also felt that it was as it should be.

"Cause and effect."

"Good deeds are rewarded and evil deeds are rewarded."

The monk was satisfied and clasped his hands together.

But the monk didn’t see it when he stood by the Yellow Spring River and turned around to look at the evil ghosts.

In the mortal world, the flower-picking monk standing by the canal also turned around, but he was looking at the dark crowd of mortals behind him.

Late at night, the light and shadow on the monk's evil ghost's face suddenly began to flow, appearing particularly clear in the night.

Everyone looked at the monk.

Everyone saw the reflection of the underworld on the monk’s ghost face.

You can see the Yellow Spring River rolling down and the riverside covered with red spider lilies.

Finally, they saw the gods and ghosts dragging the evil ghosts who had been sentenced to beheading in broad daylight, watched the gods and ghosts whipping them with wild laughter, and watched the evil ghosts kneeling on the ground begging for mercy miserably.

In the end, you can only be dragged into hell.

No one dared to speak, and the only sound in the wind was the sound of everyone gasping for air.

"hiss!"
-
Tenryuji Temple.

After the Flower-Picking Monk came back, he began to go into seclusion, and no one knew what he was doing.

The disciples did not dare to ask, but just waited at the door. When they brought in the food, they saw the monk picking flowers copying scriptures.

The ground was full of papers.

It is filled with words like cause and effect, good and evil, retribution, reincarnation, etc.

No one knew what the Monk Picking Flower was doing. They only knew that the master had something important to do, which was related to the inheritance of their lineage of Dharma.

A few days later.

The monk came out and opened the door. He looked thinner, but his eyes were brighter.

As soon as the monk came out of retreat, he called all his disciples and monks from Tianlong Temple.

in the hall.

The monk sat cross-legged on the ground, facing the other monks.

"I have compiled a volume of sutras, which I am now giving to the monks and practitioners."

The disciple asked, "What is the name of this sutra and what are its benefits?"

The monk holding the flower said: "This sutra encourages people to be good, to know the cause and effect, to distinguish right from wrong, and to abandon evil and do good."

"If all people in the world recite this sutra, the day when the human world becomes a paradise will not be far away."

“It is called the Sutra of Karma and Reincarnation.”

"Recite this sutra often, stay away from evil and do good, so as not to fall into the evil path."

Everyone remembered the recent events that had spread far and wide. The heavenly engineer and river worker who sacrificed their lives to block the breach went to hell after their death. The man who had committed many evil deeds was sentenced to be beheaded and thrown into hell to suffer eternal pain.

Another monk asked, "If I recite this sutra often, will I not fall into the evil path?"

The monk smiled and said, "I often chant this sutra so that you will know how to turn away from good and towards evil. After turning away from evil and towards good, and being able to distinguish right from wrong, you will naturally not fall into the evil path."

"If I just recite this sutra, it will be nothing but three thousand empty words. What is the meaning of me passing this sutra on to the world?"

The monks nodded and said yes repeatedly, but no one knew what they were thinking in their hearts.

After saying this, the monk chanted his "Cause and Effect and Reincarnation Sutra" in front of all the monks in the hall.

"In the cycle of life and death, all living beings flow according to their karma. Good deeds are rewarded with good, evil deeds are rewarded with evil, and those who are neither good nor evil also receive their own rewards."

"All living things are born and destroyed by causes and conditions, and good and evil karma follows them like a shadow."

"Those who practice good will receive good results; those who do evil will fall into the evil path."

"Reincarnation is caused by karma."

"In the cycle of reincarnation, one should be compassionate, do good deeds, accumulate virtue, stop doing evil and cultivate good, and eventually be liberated."

"Knowing this, seeing this, one cannot see the end of samsara, nor the beginning of nirvana."

"..."

Everyone in the hall was fascinated by what they heard and they wished they could recite all three thousand words word for word right there and then.

Although the Monk Picking Flower just said that it would be useless to just recite this sutra, now the monks have already determined that the Monk Picking Flower has inherited the great Dao, so there must be some unspeakable mysterious power in this sutra that he wanted to pass on to the world.

And in the corner of the hall.

The three monks, whose Buddhist names were "Bu Steal, Bu Dao, Bu Rob", were concentrating on copying the scriptures recited by the other monks, their pens moving as fast as the wind.

The three thousand words of scripture are long and short at the same time, and it was recited very quickly.

The monks opened their eyes.

Then I saw the monk sitting under the Buddha platform, picking up a flower and smiling.
-
Heaven, Moon Palace.

Jiang Chao was talking to Wangshu, but Wangshu seemed absent-minded.

She stood at the end of the corridor, with her ear to the ground, as if listening to something.

Jiang Chao: "What are you doing?"

Wangshu turned around and said mysteriously.

"Shh!"

"there's noise."

Jiang Chao was a little confused.

And the other end.

Deep inside the Huangquan base, a host computer continuously pops up information related to a large amount of people.

"Preliminary calculation of the sins. I have violated Article 125, Article 360, and Article ..."

"A preliminary settlement of the sins..."

"A preliminary settlement of the sins..."

Always busy.

And at the end of each settlement, there would be a crisp sound, just like the sound of a coin being inserted.

"Ding dong, ding dong."
