Chapter 24 Killing the Painless Messenger

Chapter 24 Killing the Painless Messenger

The next morning, Carrie woke up and found that the system had a new prompt yesterday: "Complete the trigger mission 5: rescue the important person Seth Nelson, reward 1 crime prevention points, and gain German proficiency."

Huh? Saving people also gets crime-killing points, and also rewards language skills! But think about it, saving good people is just as important as killing bad guys. Well, this setting is reasonable, but what does it mean to give him proficiency in German?
Today, Kerry could go to work two hours later, so he cooked some noodles for breakfast at home. After that, he made a pot of fresh tea, read a book for a while, and went to work on time.

Everyone has long been accustomed to his punctuality in coming to and leaving get off work, and even Cooper doesn't bother to care about him.

Carrie saw Elizabeth, said hello, and asked her to go with him to interrogate the "messenger" again. He wanted to see if he could get some information out of him.

Elizabeth told him that 10 minutes ago, the "messenger" Tommy had been handed over to the federal marshals and was being sent to a prison for serious criminals, waiting to be prosecuted in court.

Oh no! He immediately realized that something was going to happen and asked, "How many bailiffs are here? What escort are they using?"

"It seems like there were four people!" Elizabeth said, "As for what kind of escort they used, I didn't see it. Donald handled the handover..."

"Don—" Carrie immediately shouted, "What kind of car did the federal marshals use? Which road did they take?"

Donald, who was writing a report in front of the computer, was startled and answered subconsciously: "It's just an ordinary prison van. I don't know which route it takes."

"Alam, check where this car is immediately?" Carrie asked in a commanding tone, not caring about anything else at this point.

Affected by his shouting, Cooper also came out of the office on the second floor, stood by the railing and asked, "What's wrong, Kerry, what happened?"

"Four marshals and an ordinary prison van cannot hold the 'courier'. He will escape!" Carrie raised his head and shouted, "Cooper, I request to leave immediately. I hope there is still time to intercept him!"

Everyone realized the seriousness of the problem. Aram looked up and said, "The prison van is driving along 25th Street towards the prison. It looks normal."

Cooper immediately ordered: "You take the action team and go. I will let Alam provide you with support at any time."

Everyone hurried out, and while Donald was mobilizing the action team, Carrie, who couldn't wait, drove an SUV with Elizabeth and Mira who followed behind and left first.

Mira took the initiative to drive, and it was indeed fast and steady, better than both of them.

Seeing that the atmosphere was a little tense, Kerry couldn't help but teased: "Liz, you have to learn more from Mira and practice driving well!"

"Yes, once I've practiced well, I can be a better driver for you, right?" Elizabeth pouted.

"Haha!" Carrie laughed, "That's right, with such awareness and hard work, you will be promoted soon!" Elizabeth and Mira, who was driving, were amused by him and immediately relaxed. They also understood Carrie's purpose and were no longer nervous. The two people sitting in the front row, one driving and the other listening to Alam's real-time notification in the headset, cooperated tacitly and drove the car very fast, so that Carrie, who was sitting in the back seat, didn't have to worry at all.

The government-licensed SUV with the alarm turned on sped through the streets, ran through several red lights, and rushed onto 10th Street within 25 minutes. Alam reported that the prison van was 2 miles in their direction and was still driving normally. Mira immediately stepped on the accelerator again to increase the speed...

Two minutes later, new notification came that the prison van had driven out of the city and onto the suburban road.

Five minutes later, Alam suddenly announced that the prison van had stopped on the side of a suburban road, less than a mile away from their location!

Mira accelerated again, reaching 100 miles per hour on the road with normal traffic conditions. Forty seconds later, she saw the prison van parked on the side of the road...

Before the car stopped, Carrie was the first to jump out and rushed towards the prison van with a gun in hand, followed by Elizabeth and Mira.

The back door of the prison van was wide open. The two marshals inside were already dead on the spot. One was stabbed in the temple with a pocket knife and his service gun was stolen. The other was shot to death. The marshal on the passenger seat was also shot to death. The driver was nowhere to be seen...

Just then, a gunshot was heard from the woods by the roadside. The three of them quickly stopped investigating and ran in that direction.

After Kerry, who was at the front, rushed into the woods, he found a bailiff sitting under a tree, holding his bleeding stomach. When he saw him, he raised a hand and pointed deep into the woods...

"Liz, Mira, take care of him!" he shouted, and ran in that direction. This time he didn't need to hide his physical fitness. He ran through the woods faster than an ordinary person could run on flat ground. Soon he saw Tommy staggering not far ahead!

"Stop, Tommy! I'll shoot if you run again!" Carrie gave a final warning without stopping.

Tommy, who was dozens of meters ahead, obviously heard his shout. He ran two more steps and stopped, but immediately turned around and raised a pistol with both hands, with a grim smile on his face...

Kerry saw that the guy in front of him could still hold the gun with both hands even though his arms were injured. Although he knew that he lacked the sense of pain, he was still surprised. Of course, that was it! His reaction speed was much faster than that of an ordinary person. He fired two shots while running without waiting for the other party to pull the trigger!

What was different from the past was that in order to ensure the fastest kill for this guy who was not afraid of pain, this time he shot directly at the head, making a beautiful double combo with two shots, nailing Tommy's forehead with an interval of more than one centimeter on the left and right!
After calling the ambulance and Donald, Mira guarded the injured bailiff by the woods. Elizabeth ran over to support him. When she heard two gunshots, she was very nervous, fearing that Carrie was shot!

When she ran closer, Elizabeth saw Carrie standing next to the fallen Tommy with a strange look on his face. She took two steps forward strangely and was shocked - there were two bullet holes side by side between Tommy's eyebrows, and the back of his head was almost blown off, but there was still a hideous smile on his face, and with the existing scars, he looked extremely terrifying!
"Lee, are you okay?" Elizabeth asked with concern.

"It's okay." Kerry came back to his senses and smiled at her. "Liz, I was just thinking that there really is such a person. When I heard about him before, I just thought it was a legend. Do you know why I shot him in the head this time? Because I was worried that if I shot him in the chest, even if he was dying, he would have a chance to shoot!"

Elizabeth nodded, also with a look of fear on her face. If it were her, she might have done the same.
