Overlord: Start from the Goblin Lair.

Chapter 565: Tentative Attack

The shadow of the black dragon hovered around Louis Pod, and its wings filled with a dead and gray aura blocked most of the damage for him. But even so, the Undertaker could still feel that his life was slowly and steadily fading away.

Although it was impossible to admit it verbally, the facts proved that his so-called "master", the dragon lich, had indeed not yet reached the realm of gods. Even if he was just one step away, the gap between them was as huge as heaven and earth.

As the shadows of the black dragons around him became more and more shaky, Louis Bode confirmed this idea - this meant that when his domination was successful, bishops like him would be able to obtain even more powerful power and protection, but it also meant... tonight would be exceptionally long for him.

"But... it's always darkest before dawn, isn't it?" Luibold muttered to himself, and the shadows of the warriors around him burned up, launching a final charge towards the ignorant people who were besieging him.

Ron, who was unable to join the battle because he was distracted controlling the shadow guards, discovered something wrong at the first moment: when the bald guy burned his spell, the shadow guards he controlled were also losing their lives at the same time!
No. Ron soon discovered that he was wrong. These former captives had lost more than just their lives - their souls were dissipating and gathering in the direction of Luitpold!
"You can only leave when I tell you to!" Ron growled. He decisively gave up maintaining the original spell and drew runes in the air, smashing them towards the thirteen shadow guards who were gradually dying. "Strip!"

From another perspective that could observe the flow of arcane energy, the connections between these shadow guards and Louis Pod, which were originally vague but were now gradually strengthening, were suddenly severed!

"This is impossible!" Luibaud, the person involved, immediately noticed something was wrong. "My Lord protects their souls, just as He protects me! How could you cut off the connection between us so easily?!"

Standing outside the spell-ineffective barrier, Ron shook his hands. A puff of black smoke dissipated with the wind as the ash runes hidden in it dissipated. "Why? Of course, it's because these are not your powers - they don't even belong to that lich."

This is the power of the Ash Rune. It is impossible for the other party to leave such a useful thing only on the body of a bishop. Just as Ron expected, there were traces of these runes on Louis Pod's body as well.

However, these runes were much stronger than those on his colleagues, not even on the same level. Therefore, even though Ron understood the operation rules of these runes better than Louis Bode, he could not directly strip the power of the runes from him, and could only block them at the end.

Ron did not rashly explore the power held by the other party. After all, the shadow of the black dragon was still hovering above the shiny head. But even with a simple peek, Ron found that the Ash Runes possessed by the other party might be less than 20% less than that of Exuri - why is this so?

Is this "bishop" more respected than the previous one? Or is he not strong enough to stand at the level of bishop, so he needs such "special care"?
Ron intuitively believed it was the latter, because this person had not really "taken action" so far. If he still planned to hide his abilities at this point, it would be too insidious.

Ron thought about it, and with Seamus's voice, he came up with a plan.

"Sylvia, remove the barrier!" Ron waved his hand fiercely in the direction of the vampire, and one of his arms was immediately covered with a layer of tight armor. His five fingers also turned into a sword blade as they came together. "Let me tell you what the real power that belongs to you is!" Although according to strict standards, this can't be regarded as "your own power".

Two shadow guard warriors, one on the left and one on the right, came towards Ron under the command of Louis Pod, but Ron simply swung the sword in his hand, and the six colors of energy that burst out simultaneously instantly destroyed the shadow that had become a spent force due to lack of replenishment. Two wisps of almost imperceptible gray mist flew out and flowed quietly in the air.

As the barrier dissipated, Louis Pod noticed something that might be there, but Ron didn't intend to give him any chance to observe or reflect on himself, and rushed to Louis Pod in a blink of an eye. When a shadow was annihilated again, Ron had to retreat several meters away because of the fight with the shadow of the giant dragon.

Ron's face couldn't help but become a little solemn: if you look at the Black Dragon Lich with the eyes of a god, it is undoubtedly not qualified, but its power is still not to be underestimated objectively. Even with just such a tattoo, it actually blocked Ron's fatal blow for Louis Pod. He would not wait foolishly for the plan to be implemented. Giving the other party a chance to breathe is definitely not his style. If he hadn't got the Black Dragon to stop it, he would probably have got Louis Pod's head by now.

But this did allow him to roughly understand the remaining power of the phantom and the extent of its counterattack. Since it was difficult to kill it directly, he could start his plan - and by the way, he could also force out any trump cards the opponent might have in his hand.

This man was far from being a gentleman, so Ron had to be careful with him, lest he leave behind any unfortunate "back-up" after his death. Originally, this kind of inspection could only be done by Gillianis, but since there was a ready-made candidate on the scene, it would be best to solve it on the spot.

With this in mind, Ron rushed forward again, acting like a reckless man eager for quick success, and even deliberately avoided Serra's powerful cooperation.

Luibod stared at the mutated weapon in Ron's hand, and kept filling it with the few remaining afterimages to hinder Ron's radical steps, but this was only a stopgap measure. Anyone with a discerning eye could see that he could hardly hold on, and Luibod himself knew this without a doubt.

But the difference is that the Undertaker clearly understood the purpose of this delay - Ron guessed correctly, his strength was indeed more than what he showed.

But the problem is that in order to make such a large-scale ceremony work, it takes a long time to prepare. He needs at least two or three minutes to fully activate the ancient ritual derived from the "Oracle", but there are only three "sides" left of the spiritual shield wall that can protect him from damage and impact.

What was even more fatal was that even if he had more warrior phantoms, they could not completely block the opponent's sword. Ron launched attacks again and again, and each time he would try his best to cut a sword on the black dragon phantom - Louis Bode, his lord's protection was being deliberately consumed until it gradually became transparent!
