Chapter 553: Runes of unknown meaning
Looking at the black mist floating around the broken spirit, Ron suddenly had some ideas.
"Gillianis, do you remember that in the blood of Exure..."
"Ashe Rune?" The Moon Elf immediately understood Ron's intention. As she changed her gestures towards the "prisoner" several times, the cage immediately underwent visible changes. What was even more significant than the changes caused by the spell was undoubtedly the spirit imprisoned inside. "This person's soul has special protection, and there is no way to obtain his memory and knowledge through conventional channels. But your idea might be useful. The only problem is that this guy may not have such a rich amount of runes in his body."
The Ash Runes were not abstract random graffiti, they had the property of expressing meaning, but this property could only be revealed when the type and quantity reached a certain level. Even in the body of Exuri, they had not yet been able to decipher enough samples to decipher the meaning.
If there are only a few types of runes inside the spirit, the information that can be obtained will be only slightly more than if there is no information at all.
"I'll ensure stability." Ron also took action immediately. While Gillianis analyzed the internal structure of the spirit, he stabilized the "prisoner" that could be reduced to ashes at any time. As the two unfolded their arcane arts, the fragments of the spirit immediately let out a shrill scream, and its appearance was distorted beyond recognition - if there was still a physical body, it would have been able to write the word "miserable" eighteen times on the ground.
But unfortunately, it was just a spirit, not even a complete one. Even though it was extremely dissatisfied with its situation, it couldn't even commit suicide. The two hand-like structures that were so illusory that they could dissipate at any time kept waving in the air, trying to gather the escaping black mist. However, this could not prevent runes from taking shape in Gillianis's hands one after another.
"What...what is this?" Grant and the others stared at Gillianis and Ron in amazement. They didn't know what the Ash Rune was, nor did they understand the significance of doing this. They only knew one thing - this spirit looked extremely miserable...
"My Lord...are you using some kind of torture?" Larissa shuddered and looked at Grant for help, even though Grant was also confused. "I don't think you used any of these torture methods when you dealt with those two cultists yesterday..."
"Those two only had their bodies shattered..." Suhoru murmured. Compared to the physical torture, the torture on the soul level would undoubtedly bring them tremendous psychological pressure. After all, their previous demon lord master was an expert in this area.
Ron, who was completely focused on the fragments of the spirit body, had no idea that in the eyes of these surviving cultists, his status had unknowingly risen to the same level as their former leader.
"Just?" Driver bared his teeth and threatened, "That was because Ron took care of you yesterday! Normally he would use souls as snacks - the kind where he would drink three souls in one gulp of wine!"
"what?"
The goblin hunter boasted and lied without any psychological burden, but Victoria could not stand it. As a clergyman, Ron Heim, who knew about some of the connections between Ron and the gods, quickly stepped forward to smooth things over: "Don't listen to his nonsense, Ron is a very upright gentleman, he just sent the souls of those villains to the dead..."
"what?!"
Ivy and Sylvia on the side slapped their foreheads in sync with each other: "This is only making things worse..."
The realm of death is not the "promised land" like the Kingdom of God. It is hard to say which is worse, going there or being used as a snack by others - after all, the latter is more or less a short-term pain.
"All right!" Suddenly, Gillianis' eyes flashed, and with a short and powerful chant, the surrounding arcane energy condensed into a solid entity again, turning into a smaller and more solid illusory cube, which contained the fragments of the spirit that had been tossed to the point of dying. In her other palm, as the black mist dissipated, several runes were stably lifted up, slowly rotating and floating. It was really thanks to the fact that this spirit was so tough that Ron could feel that its current state was more than one in ten, but even so, it could still maintain its existence instead of dissipating with the wind.
"It seems to be much more stable this time." Ron put his hand away and looked up at the runes intercepted by Gillianis. "I wish the one in Exuri's body could be so obedient at that time."
Now the runes in the dragon's body have buried themselves deep in the blood and even the bottom of the soul. Unless Aikthuri is dissected at the soul level, it is impossible to find them again.
"The young dragon is also a real dragon," the Moon Elf thought of this and couldn't help but feel a little regretful, "The ones in his bloodline are not on the same level as these few, both in terms of strength and purity."
"You said before that the few 'original' Ash Runes you used could fight the Heir of God to some extent? The ones extracted from this guy's body may not even be able to deal with an ordinary giant."
"Why?" Sylvia was puzzled. "I heard that this thing is part of a system. How can there be a difference between strong and weak? Could it be that this rune, which is already extremely complicated and used to distinguish the different levels, needs to be further divided into different levels?"
"That's fine if you want to understand it that way," Gillianis glanced at the dhampir. "It's actually very easy to explain: in a language, different words play different roles in sentences and contexts. Think about what those three runes mean."
"Spirit, cutting..."
"It's either a noun or a verb, right? But the ones here should all be considered as 'prepositions' or 'particles' - can there be no difference in the power they contain?"
Sylvia opened her mouth. “Ah, that makes sense then—isn’t that right?”
The dhampir frowned and thought for a moment: "I know a lot of languages after all. No matter what language they are in, these words are hard to form a sentence and express a complete meaning, right? What does the dragon lich mean by giving it these things?"
"Is it possible that the information is incomplete?" As the nominal priest of the church, and the "arch" bishop in reality, Bunny expressed her own opinion, "After all, I heard you say that this is just a fragment."
"The spirit body is not the physical body, and it cannot be differentiated with such high precision," the moon elf shook her head. "Although it is just a fragment, as long as it is operated properly, more than 70% of the information can still be obtained. Can you think of a few sentences that have 70% prepositional particles and can clearly express the meaning?"
Anyway, it is hard to find in Elvish, and there are very few in Dwarven.
"Actually, I think there is another possibility..." Driver raised his hand, "Maybe the lich didn't intend to express his full meaning at all, he just wanted to make a mark-" (End of this chapter)
