Chapter 395 Enchantment
Chapter 395 Enchantment
Rurik was extremely excited to see Ron and the others return, and he led Ron and the others straight to his blacksmith shop without saying anything. When rebuilding the New Green Swamp Town, Ron wanted to combine his blacksmith shop with Gillianis's laboratory, which could be considered an industrial park. However, the dwarves and elves didn't like each other, so the plan was eventually abandoned, and Rurik's blacksmith shop was moved diagonally across from the "Gagawaa" tavern.
This is a win-win situation: the kobolds gain a regular customer, and Rurik can always go for a drink to quench his thirst. For dwarven craftsmen, wine is as important as anvils and hammers.
When Ron walked into the dwarf's workshop, a well-made breastplate on the shelf opposite the door immediately attracted his attention. On the front of the breastplate, the relief of a lion was lifelike, as if giving a final warning to the opponent of the wearer. On the side of the breastplate, Ron found a holy emblem of Tyr.
"This is custom-made for Andre," Rurik was obviously very satisfied with his work. He tapped the breastplate with his fingers, making a clear sound. "He has a patrol mission these two days. He can wear it when he comes back."
"This doesn't look like the craftsmanship of you dwarves, does it?" Ivy looked at the breastplate and asked curiously.
"Of course, I imitated the style of his sword. I heard that it was a gift you bought for him in Rose City?" The dwarf blacksmith raised his lips hidden under his beard. "Don't worry, I found a balance between beauty and practicality. As a paladin whose duty is to protect our safety, he deserves such a set of armor."
"Alright, alright, forget about Andre," the half-elf warrior interrupted the dwarf, "where's mine? Where's my armor?"
"Oh, sure, come here."
Rurik led everyone to the back, where a piece of unpainted white armor, revealing only the original color of the metal, stood quietly. Unlike the armor Ivy had "bought" earlier, this armor, forged by the seller himself, had a full set of armor, helmet, and iron boots, and it was impossible to see the inside from the outside.
The head armor of this full body armor is designed to wrap around the neck, so that the front face has double protection, which makes it impossible for sword blades and spear fragments to penetrate the wearer's neck; going down along the neck, the left and right shoulder armors show obvious asymmetry, the left shoulder armor is large and the right shoulder armor is small. When the wearer holds a shield, the left shoulder armor can increase the defense area, while the right side can ensure flexibility when wielding a weapon; and at the waist and abdomen, there is a chain mail skirt to protect the abdomen and crotch and two metal plates connected by four leather straps, which can be used to cover the gap between the thighs and the body.
"Armored tights, chainmail skirt, chainmail shirt, chest plate, and abdominal armor, a total of five layers of protection, enough to ensure that your front is indestructible," Rurik introduced. "I have also measured the data of your flame-wrapped gauntlets before, and I can ensure that they fit perfectly and will not give the enemy any chance to take advantage!"
"What a tin can!" Driver smacked his lips and moved over to touch the armor. "Look at the shoulder armor and the joints! Even water can't get in!"
"Rurick, can you make me one too?"
"What do you want this for?" Sera just found it funny. "You said it was a tin can, but it's really stuffy when you put it on. It's even more stuffy than the one she's wearing now!"
"If I don't hold my breath, I'm afraid you will die," the half-elf snorted, taking off his armor and preparing to try out this new set of equipment first. "If it weren't for me, Ron would have to make a lot more healing potions!"
This full body armor looked quite inconvenient and was not easy to put on. With the help of Rurik, it took Ivy nearly five minutes to put it on. If she had done it herself, the time would have been even longer.
"How is it?" Rurik asked half nervously and half excitedly, "Is there any part that doesn't fit? Is it too tight? Is it too loose?" He knew very little about magic, so he couldn't create armor that would perfectly fit any user's body. This full body armor was tailor-made for Ivy alone, and it would be difficult for others to wear it.
"It's just right," Ivy raised her gauntlets and flipped down her mask. Her voice came from behind the metal, as if there was a wall between them. "Come to think of it, it's even lighter than the breastplate I used before?"
"That's inevitable. The weight of a full-body armor is borne by the whole body, so it will feel more comfortable than a breastplate or chain mail," the dwarf stroked his beard, "and this set of armor is real mithril equipment, so it's much lighter than other armors of the same specification."
As Rurik spoke, he held out another tower shield. "Oh, yeah, try this one! It's made of the same material as the armor, and I made some changes to the size so it can fit your armor."
This tower shield is arc-shaped when viewed from a low angle, and is approximately rectangular from the front. Unlike the full body armor without any additional decoration, Rurik painted some patterns radiating outward from the center on the front, making this tower shield look extremely dynamic.
Ron's heart suddenly moved. Looking at these patterns, an arcane model that he had temporarily abandoned reappeared in his mind. He turned his wrist, and the carving knife given by old Faber appeared in his palm.
"Ivy, do you mind if I 'add some spice' to this shield?"
On the other side, Gillianis, who was still chatting with Anastasia, suddenly raised her head, her eyes fixed on Rurik's workshop, and then quickly looked away.
"Such a familiar arcane model..."
"What did you say?" Anastasia was stunned.
"Nothing." The Elf Master waved his hand casually. "It should be just an illusion. Spellcasters always have some common ideas. It's normal for the models to be similar."
"I don't understand what you're saying," the elven mercenary shrugged, quickly forgetting Gillianis's reaction, "Go on, go on, you were kidnapped by the chief wizard and made a researcher, what happened afterwards?"
The two elves continued their storytelling reminiscing about the good old days, but Ron did not have much time to dwell on the past. Beads of sweat rolled down his temples, and the carving knife in his hand cut into the mithril alloy of the tower shield like flowing water, leaving marks of varying depths and shapes.
As his wrist and fingers moved, Ivy was surprised to find that the flame-wrapped gauntlets on her hands actually reacted and gradually became warm!
