Chapter 27 Monitor Lizard
The goblins walking behind were half a day slower than them, but because the whippers who had construction and exploration capabilities in the goblin caste system, the gatherers responsible for obtaining food, and the untouchables who worked as coolies were all behind them, there was nothing Ron and the others could do even if they didn't want to wait.

Fortunately, the heavy rain in Delusion Land came later than expected. The goblins finally built a simple camp before the night rain poured down, and prepared shelter for Ron's team, Kalade and his wolf.

The other goblins besides Driveford had to find their own places to hide from the rain, either hiding under the wolf's belly or hiding in the nearby woods. In short, they were scattered everywhere.

Victoria stood at the door of the tent where Ron's team lived, leaning on her shield, and looked out vigilantly.

"Take a rest," Ivy patted her shoulder from behind, "You've been on guard these past few days, your body can't take it."

"It's okay. This is my duty," Victoria waved her hand. "Especially now that we are at the outskirts of the Delusion Land, we must not let our guard down. There is a reason why it has never been occupied."

"Even if there is danger, it will be inside, right? What could there be outside..." Ivy shook her head. Knowing that she couldn't persuade the pastor, she had to go back and rest.

It turns out that Victoria's worries were not unnecessary. It's just that they were not the victims.

When the rain stopped at dawn, Ron squatted in the open space. In front of him, three goblin corpses were lined up in a row.

Two of them had been eaten beyond recognition by wild beasts, and only one was still intact, with bite marks on the waist clearly visible.

"Blood toxin," Ron concluded. "Anticoagulation and muscle paralysis are typical effects. It's more likely that the predator is a reptile."

"Some kind of reptile, most likely a monitor lizard." Driver said on the side, "Snakes don't have bite marks like this."

As a veteran hunter, his words were quite authoritative.

"They must have found a random place to sleep, which gave the giant lizard a chance to attack." Karad was not surprised. Goblins were just consumables and cannon fodder to him, and he would not feel sad even if many of them died. However, the death of these three goblins did serve as a warning.

"Gather people and start building a stronghold," Karad's order was passed down, "These beasts usually only attack lone guys, form groups of three or five, and don't act alone anymore!"

However, Karad's order did not seem to work, and after the next night, six more goblins met with accidents.

"When we arrived, this was the only body left," Driver said angrily, "There were a lot of blood trails extending into the depths. The others must have been dragged into their dens by the monitor lizards!"

"This one has been bitten into a mess, and I can't see anything." Ron frowned. He was not a forensic doctor, so he couldn't find any useful information from such a fragmented body.

"It shouldn't be like that," Ivy crossed her arms, "Drivedo, wasn't there an abundance of prey during the hunt these days? Why did the monitor lizard have to attack you?"

"Maybe, goblin meat, delicious?" Driver tilted his head and thought again and again, and could only come up with this answer.

But this is almost impossible. It is recognized worldwide that dwarf meat is the most delicious, and goblins are not really a target worth hunting repeatedly.

"Strengthen the defense!" Karad didn't have any good ideas. On the third day, four more goblins were missing. The whole group began to be shrouded in a terrifying atmosphere. There were even rumors among the goblins that this was a divine punishment from Magrubiye.

They were not a well-disciplined team, and with people disappearing every few days, their morale began to plummet. If this continued, desertions and unrest would only happen sooner or later.

"This is really outrageous!" Kalade was furious. "No wonder this shabby place is called the Land of Delusion. It's too hostile to outsiders!"

"But I still don't believe it - I'm sleeping outside tonight. If they dare to come again, I'll peel off their skin and use it as chair cushions!"

He was worried that he couldn't take his original chair with him when he moved!
"I'll go rest first, and I'll come to help in the evening." Victoria turned and went into the tent.

She had no intention of ensuring the safety of the goblins, but once all the goblins were gone, it would be their turn.

As the leader of the team, Ron naturally couldn't let Victoria go into danger alone, so when the sky in Delusion Land darkened again, the four members of the team quietly hid near a goblin who was deliberately "alone" to rest.

Karad's wolf hid under a pile of fallen leaves as a warning and third ambush.

Time soon came to the second half of the night.

The few people and the wolf didn't even dare to breathe.

"Rustle—" The sound of light dragging footsteps was getting closer and closer.

"Six, so many..." Driver muttered softly. No wonder they could attack so many people at once, and those unlucky guys couldn't even sound the alarm.

"Do monitor lizards hunt in groups?" Ron asked, frowning and trying to keep his voice as low as possible.

This is not quite the same as what he remembered from his previous life.

"Generally speaking, no," Driver muttered, "Monitor lizards usually live in small families of two to four, and they won't leave their territory easily. So we've rarely been attacked by these things before..."

"Look! They're going to attack!"

A monitor lizard was already lying on Karad's body, it opened its big mouth full of stinky and sharp teeth, trying to bite Karad's neck. However, at this moment, Karad's yellow eyes suddenly opened, and his strong arms struggled, and his big hands like iron clamps instantly clamped on the monitor lizard's neck, clamping it tightly!
The monitor lizard screamed sharply and struggled desperately to break free from the hobgoblin's control. But it was useless to scratch with its limbs or twist and roll. Suddenly, the hobgoblin tightly wrapped its neck around the monitor lizard and brought it into its arms. The others only heard a series of bone-breaking sounds. When Karad threw the monitor lizard to the ground, the reptile had turned into a pool of limp meat.

At this moment, the giant lizards that had just been frightened reacted and began to besiege the earth goblins!
"Woo--" The wolf lying in ambush under the fallen leaves let out a long howl as a signal, and Ron and others who had been waiting for a long time immediately rushed out.

Four balls of light lit up in the air, instantly illuminating the entire battlefield. At this moment, the discolored skin of the two humanoid creatures who had already touched Karade could no longer provide them with cover. They were completely exposed to the ambush circle of Ron and others!
