Chapter 24 Suspicious Elf

"boom--"

The tall barbarian fell to the ground and stopped breathing.

Ron struggled to get up from the ground and looked around. Although he did not participate in the hearty, bloody fight, the constant casting of spells still consumed a lot of his energy.

It was almost like running around the playground all night while doing exercises on my phone. I was exhausted both physically and mentally.

After all, even a mage cannot just stand there and output damage, as he would die quickly if he did so.

And around him, the people who had just fought side by side were not in much better condition.

Ivy was hit hard in the abdomen, and Bonnie ran back to the church to get the healing potion, and is now treating her injuries.

Driver was fine, but the rats he had summoned were almost wiped out. His own quiver was empty, but the goblin hunter was too tired to retrieve them.

Quest, Mindatis and Lavinia were all sitting cross-legged on the ground meditating. Although their meditation purposes were different, their actions were similar.

Mayor Victor and Pastor Victoria were relatively better off, but they were also trying to regulate their breathing and recover their strength.

As for the Ochre Tribe... Ron was no longer sure if he could still call it a tribe.

Now Sera was the only one breathing, and no one was standing.

Among the other people attending the banquet, Ron could also see the blacksmith and the tailor. Perhaps because they were not fighters and were on the periphery, they were relatively less vulnerable to attacks.

Among the other guests in the hotel, the cat-man couple had become a pair of star-crossed lovers, and they didn't even have weapons with them, and they didn't survive the attack. The dwarf seemed to be a spellcaster, and he was almost exhausted.

And others...

Ron sighed.

He was half a doctor, but he was powerless to treat the dead. The bandits and barbarians were extremely ruthless, even Ivy was seriously injured, not to mention these people.

"They can't even protect themselves, yet they still want to conquer the land of delusion?"

A sneer of contempt appeared on Mindatis's face. "How can you be so ignorant of yourself?"

"So many people died, and you can still laugh?!" Ivy bared her teeth and looked at the elf with an unfriendly look.

"There are fewer competitors, aren't there, half-blood?" Mindatis stood up, took out a handkerchief from his pocket, and carefully wiped the blood on his rapier. "You should even thank them!"

"That's too cold-blooded..." Victoria frowned. Her colleagues suffered heavy casualties in this battle.

"Ha! This time I agree with Xi Zhugan'er's words!" Sera lay on the ground, her voice hoarse, "I'm not dead yet! The Ochre Tribe will not perish!"

"Thank you all for your generosity," Mayor Victor panted and sat down on a chair, finally catching his breath. "Now please stay for a moment. We need to clean up the battlefield so that we can count the losses and casualties."

About three hours later, when the sky began to lighten, Victor came to his conclusion.

"One-third of the guards in Fromm have lost their combat capability, with around fifty casualties, mainly concentrated in the square and the refugee camp," Victor announced his conclusion to everyone, "and only ten refugees survived. The rest were killed in attacks by northern barbarians or fled the town in the chaos." "As for the pioneer group that applied for the job - as you can see, it's just you guys left."

Ron, Ivy, Driver, Quest, Mindatis, Sera, Victoria, and the unknown dwarf.

"Eight people in total."

"And there may be a mastermind hiding among them."

Mindatis gave Ron an ambiguous look, leaving Ron confused.

"What do you mean?" Ivy's voice immediately rose, "Are you questioning the person who just saved your life?!"

"No offense," the elf said, but he was not moved at all. "I have no prejudice against humans, but this person is indeed very suspicious."

"Let me ask you: Who would think it's wise to take a goblin on an adventure?"

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone present turned their attention to Driver, and the Goblin Hunter responded with a threatening growl.

His disguise was only clothing; during the previous battle, his hood was damaged and fell off more than once.

"Indeed," Victor Fromm looked at Ron, "My friend, I think we all need an explanation."

"There's nothing to explain. He's my companion, and he's been protecting us, hasn't he?" Ron didn't intend to give up the goblin hunter just like that. Conscience was one thing, and the other was the future exploration of the fantasy land. The goblins would definitely be a powerful force.

"Protect? I saw him summon a swarm of rats with my own eyes, biting and tearing at everyone, regardless of friend or foe!"

"Even a druid can't make so many rats obey orders," Ron looked at him calmly. "If that's the case, can I think that you deliberately jumped to our side just now, preparing to divert trouble to break through our defenses?"

"Okay, that's enough!" Victor interrupted the two. "Mindatis, emergency situations should have emergency measures. This goblin and his rats did help us get through the initial stage."

"Well... then what about his behavior of allowing the barbarian chieftain to charge at you? Miss Victoria went to help them, but they didn't support you in return, but were busy fighting other weak people. Isn't this sinister?"

"Asshole!" Driver glared at the elf fiercely, "You are even more despicable than the most incompetent rat! We couldn't get away at that time!"

"That's just an excuse," the dwarf, who had been barely noticeable until now, said, "Mr. Victor is the core of this town. You should put your own safety aside to protect him."

The dwarf was indeed qualified to say this because he was sitting closest to Victor.

"What about you, Mindatis?" Ron glanced at him. "You couldn't even fight those 'weaklings' well. You were the first to leave the battle, right?"

"And who blocked Halleck's final blow? I don't remember, but I think the mayor's memory is much better than mine."

"You're right. I owe you a thank you." Victor nodded to Ron. "My magic has run out. If it weren't for you, no one could help me block that stick."

"Okay, let's end the mutual accusations and suspicions here. Now let's talk about the next plan."
