Chapter 1: The Ancestors Appeared!
That night, the cold wind howled, and the sound from the old television in the living room was occasionally mixed with the crackling of static.

In the scene, an elderly man in a purple official robe, with silver beard and white hair, kneels down to receive the imperial decree and removes his official hat. The magnificent golden palace makes his thin figure appear even more desolate.

In the drama, the incompetent emperor finally took action against Lu Qing, the Grand Secretary of the court. The Lu family was raided and the entire family was imprisoned. All the elderly, women, and children of the clan were sentenced to exile three thousand miles away and were released from the city seven days later.

"That damned emperor is utterly inhuman!"

Gu Xingzhao huddled on the sofa, watching the handsome and refined old man in the drama being stripped of his official robes and taken to prison. She cursed him with tears streaming down her face, and didn't forget to grab a handful of potato chips and stuff them into her mouth.

I don't know which unscrupulous screenwriter wrote this. What a fine old man, a Grand Secretary of two dynasties, who dedicated his life to the people and the court, yet he ended up like this in his later years.

In ancient times, when criminals were exiled, their hands and feet were shackled, and they had to walk step by step to a bitterly cold place more than 3,000 miles away. In the dead of winter, when there was heavy snow, countless people froze to death on the way.

The old man is nearly seventy years old. He was busy with government affairs when he was young, which caused him to suffer from many health problems. Now, how can his body withstand it?

The emperor had always disliked Lu Qing, but couldn't find fault with him. He also valued his own reputation, so he used the matter of choosing an heir to frame him for disrespect and exiled him three thousand miles away.

The screen went dark, and Gu Xingzhao jumped off the sofa and rushed to the broken television. He expertly slammed his fist on the top of the old, bulky machine a few times.

This is the twenty-seventh time this year; it's really affecting her ability to see her son.

She had considered replacing this television set, which was at least twenty years old, but she couldn't find any information about the show online, nor could she find out which TV station it was or even see any commercials. As a result, she was stuck with this old relic.

For two whole years, she watched the drama every single day without fail, from the young Lu Qing to the elderly Grand Secretary Lu, and now to his imprisonment and exile.

Suddenly, the screen lit up again. Gu Xingzhao dusted off his hands, sat back on the sofa, picked up the bucket of potato chips, and continued eating.

The Lu family members, who had been imprisoned, were being punished. The jailers had received a lot of personal benefits, especially towards Lu Qing. Under the pretext of interrogation, they cut off his water and food and subjected him to all kinds of torture.

Seeing the skin torn and flesh ripped open, Gu Xingzhao's heart pounded. He half-covered his eyes, thinking, "This actor is so dedicated. The way the whip is hitting his body doesn't look fake at all. It would be an injustice if this show didn't become a hit."

It was already late at night in the Great Jin Dynasty.

Lu Qing was covered in wounds, had been starved for three days, and had not had a drop of water. He sat slumped in a corner of the prison, knowing that his days were numbered.

He passed the imperial examination at the age of fifteen, became the top scholar at the age of eighteen, and was appreciated by the late emperor to enter the cabinet at the age of thirty. He served as a cabinet minister for two dynasties and was honest and upright for decades. Now he has come to this end. He only blames himself for bringing trouble to his entire clan.

Lu Qing sighed, wondering how the rest of his family was doing. The thought of this made him lose his appetite and not want to drink water.

Gu Xingzhao's eyes reddened slightly: "Mainly because you don't have the means in prison."

Lu Qing had never believed in ghosts or gods in his life, but at this moment he was hoping that God would have mercy and give his Lu family a way out.

Seeing this scene, the once handsome, refined, and somewhat ethereal old man suddenly looked decades older. Gu Xingzhao's eyes reddened slightly. Screenwriter, you have no heart!
If things continue like this, let alone being exiled in seven days, he'll probably starve to death in prison before seven days are up.

She beat her chest and stamped her feet in despair: "Whose good son has been sentenced to exile and then punished in prison for seven days? It hurts my son's body, but it hurts my heart!"
She wished she could jump into the TV and chop that damned emperor to pieces.

Suddenly, lightning flashed and thunder roared, followed by a mechanical sound accompanied by the crackling of electricity—

[Host Gu Xingzhao detected. Family tree binding successful. Channel open!]

The untimely sound startled Gu Xingzhao, who jumped up from the sofa and slammed the potato chips in his hand against the TV! With a "smack," Lu Qing, who was devoutly praying to the heavens in his heart, was hit squarely on the head by a round cylinder that appeared out of nowhere, scattering potato chips all over the floor.

The old man, who had been on the verge of death just moments before, suddenly stood up and cursed after being hit by the object. He had been holding back his anger for days. "Who dares to bully me because I'm old and weak?!"

Lu Qing only has his life left, so he can use whatever punishments he can get his hands on. What's the point of resorting to these sneak attacks and underhanded tricks?
But all that answered him was a room filled with utter silence.

Gu Xingzhao remained silent; his voice didn't sound like that of an old man.

After a moment, she realized what was happening, her eyes widened, she looked at her empty palm, then at the TV, and exclaimed, "!!!"

When I went to her house, her old-fashioned TV was eating potato chips! It's become sentient!?
In the scene, Lu Qing regained his previous demeanor, which, though disheveled, still exuded extraordinary bearing. He looked around, groped his way forward, picked up a cylinder from the ground, and rubbed it in his hand. The strange patterns and strange characters made him frown immediately: it seemed to be a foreign object.
How could something from a foreign land appear here?

Could it be that foreign spies have infiltrated the capital with ill intentions?
At this moment, Gu Xingzhao, the foreign spy, was standing in front of the television, holding a kitchen knife, his heart in his throat, ready to chop up this old relic at any moment.

But she couldn't resist reaching out to touch it, and found that it could actually pass through the screen. She immediately moved closer and felt like she touched something, so she tentatively patted it.
Wow, it looks like a ball, and it's even hairy!

"!" Lu Qing clutched his head in shock and retreated repeatedly.

It felt like someone had patted him on the head, but he was clearly all alone around him.

Upon realizing that he had photographed the old man's head, Gu Xingzhao couldn't help but burst out laughing.

The clear, melodious laughter echoed around them, and Lu Qing's pupils suddenly contracted as he abruptly looked around. "Who!? Who's laughing?"

Gu Xingzhao was surprised to hear herself laughing. She cleared her throat and asked, "Lu Qing?"

"Who are you?" Lu Qing frowned, his eyes scanning his surroundings warily. This foreign spy was truly skilled, having actually infiltrated the Great Jin prison.

Looking at the old man in front of him, Gu Xingzhao stroked his chin, pretending to be profound and unfathomable. "I am a descendant of the Lu family who attained enlightenment and ascended to heaven hundreds of years ago. I just heard the prayers of your descendants. Considering your countless merits throughout your life, I have come to help you overcome this difficulty."

As soon as she spoke, she silently clasped her hands together in her heart: "Ancestor of the Lu family, please forgive my impersonation. I did this to save your Lu family descendants."

Lu Qing was stunned. An ancestor from hundreds of years ago?
The family genealogy records that the Lu family did indeed have some ancestors who were obsessed with Taoist cultivation...

He had indeed been praying in his heart, but the voice sounded about the same age as his granddaughter, who had just gotten married last year.

Gu Xingzhao naturally knew that the old man wouldn't believe her so easily. After thinking for a moment, she put down the kitchen knife she was using for self-defense, turned around, grabbed a cup, poured some water, and sent it along with a bag of bread to Lu Qing on the television screen, to prove that she had really come to help him through his tribulation.

Her eyes were kind. "Have some water and something to eat first."

"!!!" A glass of water appeared out of thin air in front of him. Lu Qing, who was nearly seventy years old, was shocked. His eyes widened and his mouth was slightly open.

It's like using a small knife to pull out a big mess.
