Chapter 47 Zen Master Kurong, Arhat Status (Fourth update! Please continue reading! Please vote with monthly tickets!!!)

The monk Liaozhen arrived at the Wanfo Cave on the back mountain of Fazhong Temple.

This place has been a retreat site for eminent monks throughout history. The cave houses ten thousand statues of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats, as well as ten thousand volumes of Buddhist books. It is a place where the Buddhist light of Fazhong Temple gathers.

At this moment, two Dharma protector monks stand at the entrance of Wanfo Cave.

These two monks had been following Master Kurong for a long time. During the ten years that Master Kurong was in seclusion, these two monks were always protecting him at the cave entrance.

The cave entrance had been closed before, but this time, the door that had been closed for ten years was finally opened.

Master Liaozhen entered the cave, the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave, and after ten years, he saw his master, Master Kurong, again.

At this moment, Master Kurong, dressed in a plain-colored monk's robe, stood before a Buddha statue.

Sensing that Zhen had truly arrived, Ku Rong turned to look at Zhen.

"Liaozhen, it's been ten years. Is everything alright at the temple?"

The monk Liaozhen respectfully replied, "Disciple greets Master and reports that during Master's ten-year seclusion, everything at Fazhong Temple remained the same, and there were no changes. The temple was peaceful."

After hearing the report, Kurong nodded, quite satisfied with the answer.

Liaozhen looked at Master Kurong at this moment and sensed his state of mind.

Although his master was 97 years old, Liao Zhen felt that his aura made him seem younger than he had been ten years ago.

It has the feeling of new buds sprouting from an old tree.

Liao Zhen asked, "Master, you've been in seclusion for ten years. Did you gain any insights this time you emerged? Did you perhaps comprehend a higher realm?"

I have all the guesses in my heart, but I dare not be sure.

Because he knew that his master, Zen Master Kurong, had gone into seclusion ten years ago because he himself had reached the end of his life ten years ago.

His lifespan was about to run out, so he went into seclusion to prolong his life and comprehend the tenth level of the Withering and Flourishing Divine Art.

This period of enlightenment lasted for ten years. After emerging from seclusion this time, the aura within his body was no longer like it was ten years ago, emanating deathly energy from within. Instead, it was a state of external death and internal life.

On the surface, it appears as withered as an old tree, but inside, it radiates a continuous vitality. Clearly, this monk, Ku Rong, has reached a new realm. At 97 years old, he is now recovering from the effects of aging.

To achieve such an effect, even the monk Liaozhen could only guess that his master had broken through to the tenth level of the Withering and Flourishing Divine Art.

It has reached the highest level.

Only by cultivating a divine skill to the tenth level of perfection can one achieve this miraculous effect of being resurrected from the dead and turning decay into glory.

Zen Master Kurong smiled slightly and nodded, saying, "Indeed, this old monk, blessed by the Buddha, has attained enlightenment after ten years of meditation and has indeed comprehended the tenth level of the Kurong Divine Skill."

Furthermore, in the midst of meditation, I saw the Great Sun Tathagata Buddha, who bestowed upon me the position of Arhat of Withering and Flourishing in the Western Paradise. Now I am already an Arhat of Withering and Flourishing in Buddhism. The Buddha instructed me to cultivate merit in the mortal world for another ten years, subdue one hundred demons, and guide them into the Western Paradise.

After ten years of such merit, one will have achieved perfect enlightenment and can enter the Great Thunderclap Temple to attain the Arhatship, enjoying eternal bliss.

Zen Master Kurong was beaming with joy, his eyebrows dancing with excitement as he spoke.

He secluded himself for ten years, and had almost given up hope.

He had prepared to pass away peacefully, but at the last moment, he suddenly attained enlightenment and even sensed the presence of the Buddha of the Western Paradise.

The Buddha bestowed upon him the status of an Arhat and conferred upon him the title of Venerable Arhat of Withering and Flourishing.

Let him cultivate merit in the mortal world for another ten years, subdue a hundred demons, and after ten years, he can enter the Western Paradise and become a golden-bodied Arhat.

How could Zen Master Kurong not be happy?
He never imagined that he could become a Buddhist Arhat, and in the future, he would be a true high-ranking member of the Buddhist community, holding a very prestigious position!

The monk Liaozhen listened to his master's words and heard that his master had attained the status of an Arhat.

They will truly ascend to the Western Paradise in the future.

Overjoyed, he quickly offered his congratulations: "Disciple congratulates Master on attaining the status of an Arhat in Buddhism. It is only a matter of time before our Fazhong Temple becomes the foremost Buddhist temple!"

If Zen Master Kurong can truly ascend to the Western Paradise, as the first person in modern times to do so, the status of Fazhong Temple will inevitably rise accordingly, and it will be a foregone conclusion that it will become the foremost Buddhist temple in the future.

Ku Rong smiled upon hearing the genuine flattery, feigning humility but inwardly quite pleased. Monk Liao Zhen pressed his advantage, saying, "Master, you just mentioned that Buddha instructed you to cultivate merit in the mortal realm for ten years and then subdue 100 demons. I recently suffered a setback at the hands of a powerful demon."

After returning, I endured this humiliation for many days, thinking that it would pass if I just let it go. Unfortunately, you, sir, have just emerged from seclusion. Since Master also needs to subdue demons, I humbly request that Master grant my request and subdue that old devil!

Having heard the real monk's words,

Ku Rong asked, "Your cultivation is not weak either. With your Buddhist cultivation, you should be able to walk around this mortal world with impunity. Even a thousand-year-old demon would have a hard time getting to you. And what demon could possibly make you suffer? What is its origin?"

The monk Kurong was somewhat surprised.

Liao Zhen was his disciple, and as his master, he couldn't possibly be unaware of his disciple's abilities.

Although Ryojin's strength is not as good as mine, he can still rank among the top three within the Hojūji Temple.

With his Buddhist cultivation level ten years ago, he should have no problems as long as he didn't encounter a powerful demon that was thousands of years old.

Even if it's a demon that's been around for two or three thousand years, Liao Zhen could easily defeat it and escape unscathed.

The ancient demon could not harm the true monk in the slightest.

Now that ten years have passed, his cultivation level must have improved even further.

Is there anything that could make him utter the word "frustrated"?

What's their background? What's their strength?

Could someone really beat someone like that?

The monk Liaozhen said, "It is a zombie that has been dead for more than two thousand years. It has great supernatural powers and its cultivation level is around that of a flying zombie. Its supernatural powers are vast, and I am indeed no match for it."

The monk Liaozhen recounted how the zombie threw him into the reservoir to feed the fish.

Many disciples also followed suit, which was extremely shameful.

We must get our revenge!

After listening, Ku Rong shook his head.

"It seems that you've become lax in your training during my ten years of seclusion. You've actually suffered such a great loss because of a flying zombie."

However, I have learned that a mere flying zombie dared to harm members of my Buddhist sect.

My Buddhist sect will definitely get revenge on this place. I can kill that little flying zombie with a single finger now.

But before that, there's one more thing to do..."

Ku Rong did not immediately agree to the real monk's request to seek retribution.

Before doing anything for someone else, he needs to finish his own business first.

The monk Liaozhen asked what was wrong.

Ku Rong said, "In my meditation, I had a conversation with the Buddha. In addition to granting me the status of an Arhat, the Buddha also told me something very important."

This matter concerns the future rise and fall of our Buddhist sect over the next thousand years and cannot be taken lightly. I will deal with that flying zombie after I finish this matter.

"Liaozhen, come with me out of the temple later. Let's take care of that matter first."

Liaozhen nodded in agreement as he listened to Master Kurong's words.

Having said all that, Monk Liaozhen dared not say anything more.

Master's matter is more important.
Let's take care of the old ancestor first, then we can deal with Zhang Tianlu.

However, before going, Monk Liaozhen still wanted to learn more about it first.

He asked, "Master, what was it that Buddha instructed you about?"
