Chapter 277 The Blue-haired Lion
This blue lion was originally the mount of Manjushri Bodhisattva.

Its name is Green-haired Lion, and it also has another name: Curly-headed Immortal.
He was originally a mythical beast, the Green-haired Lion, who attained enlightenment. Before the Great Tribulation of the Investiture of the Gods, he was one of the Seven Immortals serving under the Tongtian Sect Master of the Jie Sect.

During the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, he was in charge of the Taiji Formation, but it was broken by Manjushri's Pangu Banner and he was also forced back to his original form by the Antarctic Immortal.

Later, he was personally appointed by the Primordial Celestial Venerable as Manjushri's mount.

From then on, the golden lion followed Manjushri Bodhisattva.

Later, Manjushri Bodhisattva converted to the Western religion and became one of the four great Buddhas of the West. The blue-maned lion followed him there.

This green-maned lion also appeared in the later Journey to the West: Great Tribulation.

They fell from the Great Thunderclap Temple in the Western Paradise to Lion Camel Ridge and transformed into the three demons of Lion Camel Ridge, causing considerable trouble for Tang Sanzang and his four disciples.

In Journey to the West, Lion Camel Ridge is probably one of the most difficult dungeons for Tang Sanzang and his disciples.

The original text describes the blue-haired lion:
Its teeth are like chisels and saws, its head round and square. Its roar is like thunder, its eyes like lightning. Its nose is raised to the sky, its red eyebrows are like flames. Wherever it goes, beasts tremble; whenever it sits down, demons tremble.

This one is the king of beasts, the blue-haired lion monster.

During the ordeal at Lion Camel Ridge, the three brothers—the Green-haired Lion, the White Elephant, and the Roc—deeply humiliated Tang Sanzang and his disciples.

Moreover, this blue-haired lion, as the leader of the three monsters, is indeed quite powerful.

In the original text of Journey to the West, a little demon from Lion Camel Ridge praised him.

Back then, when he attacked the heavenly soldiers and generals in the Heavenly Court, he could devour 10 heavenly soldiers and generals with a single opening of his lion's mouth.

While this might seem like boasting, Zhang Tianlu actually knew that the lion truly possessed such abilities.

Because this lion's cultivation level is that of a Golden Immortal!

Ordinary celestial soldiers and generals are at most at the level of celestial immortals or divine generals, and only those at the level of profound immortals are considered powerful.

This lion is a golden immortal.

Even a Golden Immortal is considered a powerful deity in the Heavenly Court.

After all, above the Golden Immortal is the Great Luo Golden Immortal, and the Great Luo Golden Immortal is an extremely rare top expert in both the Eastern Taoist Heavenly Court and the Western Buddhist sects.

Golden Immortals below the Great Luo level are basically the middle and upper levels of both factions.

This golden-haired lion could easily handle 10 heavenly soldiers and generals; it was indeed a powerful monster.

After the blue-maned lion woke up, it couldn't find Manjushri anywhere.

Even Zhang Daoling, who had just been knocked unconscious by a Celestial Master's Seal, was nowhere to be found.

The Green Lion asked Zhang Tianlu, "Fellow Daoist, do you know where my master has gone?"

Zhang Tianlu said, "Manjushri is dead. His immortal soul has been captured by Zhang Daoling, one of the four great celestial masters of my Heavenly Court, and brought into the Heavenly Court. His body has also been taken away."

This blue-maned lion was also a pitiful creature; in its early years, it was one of the Seven Immortals of the Jie Sect.

She also holds a position within the Jie Sect.

However, due to the great defeat of the Jie Sect, some of its disciples died, some were injured, some were listed on the Investiture of the Gods, and some submitted.

A large number of them were turned into mounts.

Qiu Shou Xian was very powerful; he was actually on par with Manjushri back then.

Later, he became Manjushri's mount, which shows how much humiliation he suffered.

But there was nothing he could do; it was all fate, after all, he was born from a wet egg, as described by the Primordial Celestial Venerable.

Being inferior to others in origin, looked down upon by Yuanshi Tianzun, who considered himself the true successor of Pangu, and considered everyone below the level of a sage as an ant—this is all fate.

What this blue-haired lion didn't expect was that after following Manjushri Bodhisattva for so many years, when it really came to a life-or-death situation, Manjushri resolutely abandoned him and sent him to his death to buy himself a chance.

The two had been master and servant for millennia, but Manjushri's true colors disgusted the Green Lion.

Fortunately, Zhang Daoling took pity on him and showed mercy; otherwise, the Green Lion would have already perished like Manjushri.

At this moment, the Green Lion heard that Manjushri Bodhisattva had died.

A sense of satisfaction welled up within him. But at the same time, he had no idea where he was going.

Looking at the confused expression on the blue lion's face.

Zhang Tianlu asked, "Fellow Daoist Qiu Shou, what are your plans next?"

Hearing Zhang Tianlu's words, the green-haired lion shook his head.

For a moment, he really didn't know where to go.

Zhang Tianlu asked, "Do you want to return to the Buddhist temple?"

Buddhist monks are a group of cold-hearted, cunning, and selfish people.

Go back to that place and continue being a human's mount?

Manjushri Bodhisattva is now dead.

Three of the four great Bodhisattvas of the West have their own mounts, so none of them need this blue-maned lion.

If he were to return to Buddhism, he would most likely be handed over by the Buddha like a commodity to some Arhat or Venerable One.

They even made him serve some immortals whose cultivation was inferior to his.

It’s ridiculous.

The blue-maned lion naturally refused.

Especially since Zhang Tianlu called him Qiu Shou Xian at this moment and addressed him as a fellow Daoist.

The wisp-headed immortal was momentarily bewildered.

It's been so many years since anyone called him that.

At this moment, Qiu Shou Xian seemed to have returned to the time before the Investiture of the Gods calamity began.

At that time, the teachers were still around.

Everyone cultivated together within the Jie Sect, helping each other; it was the Tongtian Sect Leader who gave them a pure land.

At that time, he still had dignity. After all, the philosophy that Tongtian Jiaozhu taught them was that no matter what their background was, no matter whether they were born from moisture or eggs, as long as they worked hard and cultivated themselves, they would eventually create a world of their own.

They are no less powerful than those immortals and gods who were born with noble origins.

But then a great calamity of the Investiture of the Gods destroyed all of this.

The Jie Sect suffered a crushing defeat. Chang Er Ding Guang Xian betrayed them, and his fellow disciples either died or, like him, were reduced to being the mounts of immortals and gods, suffering countless humiliations.

Now that Manjushri is dead, will he return to Buddhism?
Qiu Shou Xian bowed to Zhang Tianlu and said, "Fellow Daoist, I had no intention of being your enemy. Please forgive me for what happened before. I had no choice."

Although Wenshu is dead, I have nowhere else to go. It seems I have no choice but to return to Buddhism. After all, I have a sage's mandate to guide me, and if I don't go back, I will inevitably face annihilation. With my current strength, if I betray Buddhism, I will not be able to gain a foothold in the Three Realms.”

The blue-haired lion sighed, "That's fate!"

Everything is destined, no one can help.

After the Jie Sect lost, it meant that the original disciples of the Jie Sect no longer had their freedom.

Moreover, this blue-maned lion was personally chosen as a mount by the Primordial Celestial Venerable.

He dared not disobey the sage's command.

The Buddhist community is not one he can afford to offend now, after all, the Buddha's power is terrifying.

There are also three great Bodhisattvas and other Buddhas in Buddhism.

Where could a blue-maned lion, who has betrayed Buddhism, possibly run off to?

Once caught, they will be utterly destroyed.

So even if he didn't want to return to Buddhism, he had no choice but to go back on his own.

This is the tragedy of an ordinary Golden Immortal without any background.
