Apocalyptic Disaster: Stockpile Supplies for Free and Make a Comeback

Chapter 70 A Little Bit Quirky, But Really Good

Chapter 70 A Little Bit Quirky, But Really Good
In late October, the temperature finally began to drop.

It's 35 degrees Celsius outside, which is quite hot, but at least not unbearably hot.

Until November 20th, the temperature dropped from 30 degrees to 10 degrees overnight.

I even had a thin blanket over me when I went to sleep, but I was so cold in the early morning that I huddled up in a ball.

In the past, Wucheng usually didn't get snow in winter; at most, it would get sleet, damp and cold to the bone.

But the weather is different now, and everyone is making preparations for winter.

The temperature dropped, followed by several days of freezing rain. The vegetables and grains that had been carefully cultivated, except for easy-to-grow crops like potatoes and chives, suffered reduced yields due to the harsh weather, resulting in less harvest.

Firewood is also in short supply right now.

Food and other supplies can be obtained through work, but timber basically has to be cut down by oneself. There is plenty of timber around the villa area, so it's not worth it to exchange other things for timber.

For safety reasons, everyone goes out in groups of a few people.

Song Jinhe and his group became a popular choice in the villa area. Everyone knew they had guns and could go into the city to find supplies. Going out with them, aside from anything else, made people feel very safe.

Several groups of people came and bumped into each other at the door.

"Jinhe, when are you going out to gather firewood? Why don't we go together?" Qiu Ling spoke first.

“Sister Jinhe, I also want to go with you. None of us have much experience surviving outside.” Jing Zhigao’s eyes were sincere.

“Yes, Jinhe, this is my only family. I can rest assured if she can go with you.” Jing Zhigao’s mother, Liu Yanyang, wiped away her tears and pushed Qiu Ling aside.

“Aunt Liu, what are you saying? You want others to take care of your son? We’re here to do something, not to play around.” Qiu Ling didn’t tolerate her.

"Hey, what do you mean?"

"Take me with you. I'm strong and can help you collect more."

Song Jinhe stood at the door, speechless, when Qi Sixing slipped out from the side.

"Sis, when are you going out? Let's see if we can find any more supplies."

It's definitely impossible for so many people to go out together; if no one is there to guard the house and something happens, everything will be over.

"Qiu Ling, Kang Feng is with us, and so are you over there. We'll be out in ten minutes." Song Jinhe looked at Qi Sixing. "While you're at it, clear out the zombies around here. The rest of you can team up with Uncle Li and Zhao Yanzhou."

Once the high temperatures subsided, the number of zombies increased. She was there to find supplies and expand her space, not to be a bodyguard looking after someone's son.

"If you want to join us, that's fine too, but clearing out zombies is definitely dangerous, and we can't take care of everyone all the time."

Hearing that they would also be clearing out zombies, no one objected to the arrangement. Only two men stood up and said they were willing to go and help.

Jing Zhigao had seen many people and originally wanted to go too, but Liu Yanyang dragged him down.

"Mom, what are you doing? There are so many people together, nothing will happen."

"Why not? Even with a large group, they might not be able to take care of you. What if something happens?" Liu Yanyang scolded. "Going with the afternoon team is the same. They have guns, but you don't. Didn't those guys who went to clear out zombies when it rained get bitten to death?"

Jing Zhigao opened his mouth, intending to say that with such a good opportunity, how could he not go and build good relationships? In the end, he remained silent.

Song Jinhe, wearing a warm down jacket, took a saw and an axe and got into the car. The ground was covered with a thin layer of ice, and the soil was soft and loose from being soaked in water, making it difficult to drive.

Given her past aggressive driving style, her teammates didn't let her drive this time, fearing she might drive recklessly and cause a ditch.
It was colder in the woods than outside. Ice crystals were still falling from the leaves, and the ground was wet and slippery. Someone had just slipped and fallen, and he only managed to avoid cutting his hand with the saw he was holding because he was wearing thick clothes.

Song Jinhe and his group were fully armed, with non-slip shoes for protection. They weren't cold while chopping firewood, but clearing out the zombies was still very difficult. The forest was full of wild vines and weeds, and there were zombies crouching inside. Anyone who passed by would wake up as soon as they smelled them.

Song Jinhe shook the water off her gloves, then suddenly her expression changed abruptly. She turned around and shouted to the crowd, "Wait! There seem to be footsteps. Come back quickly!"

Before anyone could react, a emaciated, brown-skinned zombie pounced on one of them.

"Ah!!!" The man raised his hand to block, and a large chunk of flesh was torn off his palm, exposing the bone.

Under the cover of the others, Cheng Yan and Qi Sixing rushed forward to rescue the man as quickly as possible, shouting, "Quick, hold him down! Give me the axe!"

There was a smaller horde of zombies behind them, more than twenty of them surrounding them.

Song Jinhe swung her axe at the zombie's neck, but instead of cutting through it, the axe got stuck in the bone.

She frowned, drew her pistol, and shot down several running zombies, but she missed twice in a row on the thing that looked a bit like a mummy.

Even with perception and prediction, it was impossible to hit, which shows how terrifying its speed is.

After using a Molotov cocktail, it leaped into the grass, and the small amount of fire that touched its shoulder was extinguished.

Several shots failed to kill it, and Song Jinhe was forced back and fell by it and other zombies. If it hadn't been for a rock, she would have rolled down the slope.

The zombies caught up in less than two seconds. Song Jinhe had time to kill the first one, but not enough time to deal with the second and the third.

As the rotting faces magnified in her vision, her heart raced and she gasped for breath. She quickly retrieved a spare gun with plenty of ammunition from her storage space.

boom!
Pfft

At the same moment the gunshot rang out, the knife tip pierced through the zombie's mouth. Immediately afterward, Jiang Shi'an rolled on the ground with her in his arms, avoiding the most troublesome special zombie, and fired several shots at it to drive it away.

Neither of them spoke. Song Jinhe stood up, holding Jiang Shi'an's hand, and tacitly stepped back in opposite directions.

If we can't kill them using normal methods, we'll have to hunt them down.

This zombie is not only fast, it can also consciously dodge bullets.

Their task was to drive it into the trap. Song Jinhe's eyes were focused, and every shot she fired was from a pre-planned location.
Although it seemed like the shot missed, in reality, the zombie's dodge route and location were entirely determined by her and Jiang Shi'an.

Her magazine was empty. Jiang Shi'an fired the last shot. The zombie ran into the bullet. Its eyes were pierced and its brains were spilling out. The zombie, with seven or eight bullet holes in its body, was still able to stand up and run.

Its slender body scurried outwards.

"???" Song Jinhe stood there in shock. "What the hell?"

It even tried to run away when it first encountered a zombie, but unfortunately, it wasn't very lucky.

Jiang Shi'an only had a second or two to reload before he chased after the zombie, shooting it in the right leg. The zombie then fell into a mud pit.

It was only thanks to Zhuang Ting's intervention, applying gravity, that it was prevented from climbing out.

Jiang Shi'an fired a few more shots, then grabbed an axe and, expressionless, chopped off its head.

They definitely can't escape now.

Qi Sixing ran over to look at the arrow he had picked up from the zombie, saying, "This little thing is actually quite something."
