Apocalyptic Disaster: Stockpile Supplies for Free and Make a Comeback
Chapter 51 Backup Power
Chapter 51 Backup Power
This was not what she wanted to see, but she had no other choice.
Song Jinhe looked at the man who was surrounded by zombies and eventually drowned in the horde. She quickly picked up the rifle that had been kicked into a corner during the fight and called to Qi Sixing, who was struggling to get up, to leave together.
"Sis, you're my only sister. If it weren't for you, I would have been dead by now!"
Qi Sixing rubbed his aching arm and followed, feeling a surge of emotion.
Suddenly, an unknown liquid splashed down behind me in the middle of the zombie horde.
The next moment, a pungent smell and a chilling sizzling sound came from the air.
Song Jinhe turned her head and saw that in the dissipating smoke, the bodies of more than a dozen zombies, along with their brains, were rapidly rotting, with the remaining flesh stuck together. A pool of murky liquid mixed with rotting flesh was slowly spreading on the ground.
They devoured the gifted ones, but now that they're completely dead, they can no longer become stronger.
Qi Sixing opened his mouth, staring at the scene, his gaze stiffly shifting to Jiang Shi'an, the instigator, not far away.
I rely on? !
What did they use? The destructive power is terrifying!
His only sister, Song Jinhe, was in charge of the killing, and this person was in charge of handling the aftermath. Does this mean they're doing a one-stop funeral service?
"Quickly, crouch down!" Song Jinhe quickly ducked to the side and hid behind the metal frame.
A hail of bullets swept past, and Qi Sixing, protecting his head, stared blankly at the dense bullet holes on the wall.
After a while, he came to his senses when he saw Song Jinhe come out, and he listened to her and let her escape a disaster.
After clearing out this wave, Brother Wang began to retreat. The route they had taken in was blocked by zombies, so they had to look for other exits, and their personnel were scattered by the zombies.
Song Jinhe spotted Cai Zheng, who was slacking off and trying to hide, so she grabbed a rifle and blocked his way.
"Do you find my baseball bat easy to use?" Song Jinhe asked with a smile.
Cai Zheng's expression froze. He looked at the bloodied Qi Sixing, then at the gun in Song Jinhe's hand.
"Stop pretending, do you even know how to shoot?" Cai Zheng stared intently at Song Jinhe's movements, a hint of nervousness still showing on his face.
Song Jinhe smiled gently.
Suddenly, her finger changed direction, and with a bang, the man hiding in the shadows, preparing to ambush her, was hit and fell to the ground.
The rifle's recoil was quite strong, and it was her first time using it; her shoulder was unexpectedly jolted by the impact.
"Jinhe, don't shoot! We used to be friends!" Cai Zheng raised his hands, his attitude completely changing.
"Miaomiao and the others are all dead. It's just the two of us left from our group. You won't kill me, right?"
"Please, please don't kill me! I only hung out with them because I wanted to survive. Please let me go!"
Under Song Jinhe's gun, Cai Zheng handed the baseball bat to Qi Sixing, speaking with utmost sincerity. When he caught sight of Jiang Shi'an joining Song Jinhe, his face showed even more fear.
This man killed half of their people all by himself.
"Contact the people who are rushing here and tell them you're in trouble. There's a special kind of zombie here, and you haven't found the medicine yet."
Cai Zheng looked at Song Jinhe in a panic and pleaded, "They'll kill me if they come in! There are two of your men outside. You can't beat Brother Wei like this. Why don't we run away together!"
"Since you're unwilling," Song Jinhe nodded slowly, "then alright."
Without hesitation, he fired the gun.
"There are three people left. They ran uphill, and they won't be able to get out anytime soon," Jiang Shi'an said calmly.
“These places all have backup power supplies. Judging from the situation, there are no survivors here since the disaster happened not long ago.”
This means that the backup power supply is likely still usable.
"What do we do now?" Zhuang Ting frowned. This place was perfect for setting a trap and wiping out the rest of them in one fell swoop.
But they still have their own people outside.
"No matter what, we can't let the rest of us get out." Song Jinhe glanced outside; the zombies were eating, a perfect opportunity to strike.
“If they go out, Cheng Yan and Dai Jie will be beyond saving.”
The three men who were running uphill didn't fire their guns because they were afraid the other men would hear them and chase after them.
"No, can you explain this more clearly?" Qi Sixing hissed involuntarily as his wound throbbed with pain. "Backup power, broadcast," Song Jinhe said. "Gathering the zombies to ensure they can't get out, is that what you mean?"
Jiang Shi'an nodded.
"The problem is, we don't know where the backup power source is!" Qi Sixing added.
Song Jinhe looked at Jiang Shi'an; the place was too big, and she couldn't find where she was.
"This way," Jiang Shi'an said, opening a door first.
"Jinhe, where did you learn your marksmanship? It's amazing!" Qi Sixing asked in a low voice from the side. "Your friend said you drive slower than other people ride bicycles."
No, she started acting before the apocalypse?
Thanks to the help of her fake friend, Qi Sixing didn't think it was likely that she would abandon her companions and run away on her own.
I just saved him twice.
"Yes, that was true before. But this isn't the apocalypse anymore, so we still need to improve our skills," Song Jinhe replied calmly.
"Makes sense."
Jiang Shi'an, who was walking in front, listened to their conversation and glanced back slightly.
The road was certainly not safe either.
When Qi Sixing asked why there were so many zombies, Song Jinhe shook her head, at least there weren't any of the zombies with pus oozing from their bodies on this route.
They're like mobile pesticide sprayers.
"By the way, what about those yellow and green zombies up ahead?" Zhuang Ting asked as well.
"I suspect that some biochemical materials leaked from this area, and the environment affected them?"
From Jiang Shi'an's expression, Song Jinhe knew she was right.
The equipment room is just ahead.
They forced the door open, revealing a maze of tangled wires and metal instruments inside.
Song Jinhe didn't know how to use this thing. After closing the door, Zhuang Ting was still looking around to see how to start the machine when he saw Jiang Shi'an pull down the metal lever and then quickly press several buttons.
The sound of the power supply starting up suddenly rang out.
Qi Sixing and Zhuang Ting now believe that he must be someone from this company, or he must have been here before, otherwise he wouldn't be able to create a weapon that corrodes a group of zombies into skeletons and turn on the power.
"How do you even know this?" Song Jinhe asked, looking at the green screen lit up on the machine.
“The methods for turning on these kinds of devices are all pretty much the same, and I just looked at the operating manual.” Jiang Shi’an picked up a notebook.
"If I remember correctly, I just glanced at it a couple of times when I saw you."
Song Jinhe whispered, glancing at the circuit diagram above. Okay, I don't understand. The physical attack that killed her.
Jiang Shi'an pursed his lips slightly and replied, "Yes, I've remembered it."
That wicked talent for learning.
She actually did quite well in biology, but she couldn't connect circuits in physics.
Once the power is on, things will be much easier.
The dimly lit corridor became bright.
The group carefully stepped over the zombie corpses they had just cleared and arrived at the control room, where they found the broadcast and alarm equipment.
Surprisingly, some of the cameras are still working.
