Chapter 12: Fusion and Demonic Transformation (Please add to your favorites and continue reading)

Li Chunfeng had been wandering outside the Ghost Mist Grand Canyon for three days in the blink of an eye.

The environment here was quite different from his initial impression of the Ghost Realm.

The peaks of the distant, massive mountain ranges remained covered in snow, frozen solid. Only at the confluence of two distant mountain ranges did a seemingly bottomless chasm suddenly appear. On the map, it appeared to be thousands of meters long, as if a divine sword had cleaved the earth in two. Standing at the edge of the canyon, gazing into the distance, all one could see was a vast expanse of clouds, stretching to the horizon, like the very edge of the heavens.

Outside the valley, however, flowers bloom everywhere, and greenery permeates almost every corner.

Canyon City is located at the entrance to the canyon.

Beneath the mist lies a bottomless abyss, perpetually shrouded in fog, a ghostly and eerie paradise for countless demons and ghosts. The valley is rich in various rare ores, mountain treasures, spiritual herbs, demon cores, soul crystals, and magic seeds, among other things. Its unique geographical environment makes large-scale mining extremely difficult, but it has become a convenient source of wealth for wandering cultivators and martial arts adventurers.

Large conglomerates, companies, and cultivation forces have set up branches and acquisition centers here year-round, offering substantial prices.

Countless cultivators and wandering martial artists flocked to the area around the Grand Canyon, disregarding the towering mountains and bottomless abysses, climbing up and down the cliffs, risking their lives in pursuit of the treasures they desired.

Canyon City, which started as a military camp of a border city, has gradually been developed into a well-equipped small city.

These past few days, Li Chunfeng has been busy almost every day, without a moment of leisure.

They are nocturnal, practicing their skills during the day and watching other people's Abyss Tribulation strategy videos, while wandering around the edge of the canyon at night.

With the date of the Abyss Calamity fast approaching, Li Chunfeng was anxious, but he didn't want to make any mistakes in his haste.

They continued their daily routine of searching along the edge of the canyon, without venturing deeper.

However, the task of catching lantern ghosts never stopped.

The area around the Grand Canyon is rich in spiritual energy, and there are more lantern ghosts than in the mass grave. Occasionally, there are even lantern ghosts that have reached a higher level, making it much more efficient than in the mass grave outside the city.

The level of the Burning Lamp also increased one after another, and the Soul Devouring and Heart Lamp talents both rose another grade.

After nightfall, the mist in the Grand Canyon seems to come alive, breathing in and out every creature that enters it.

The outer area is filled with many patches of mist that are not connected. They are scattered in patches of varying sizes and, from a distance, look like clusters of moving mushrooms. These are large numbers of bone spirits moving within the mist.

As usual, Li Chunfeng lit a soul-summoning incense stick and skillfully caught hundreds of lantern ghosts.

Just as they were about to continue, a cloud of mist drifted in from not far away, gradually revealing two constantly swaying shadows.

Li Chunfeng swayed and retreated to a large tree.

The lamp was summoned and stood guard beside him.

He watched the small wisp of mist approaching, wondering what kind of monster it was, while preparing to leave at any moment—in this unknown territory, who knew what terrifying beings he might encounter? Survival was the priority, and escape was the best option.

Two skeleton spirits slowly emerged from the mist.

His lower body was completely shrouded in black mist, while his upper body was skeletal and strong. Two orange-yellow soul flames burned fiercely in his skull pupils. He held a bone knife in one hand and a shield in the other. As he moved, the mist surged, as if he had returned from hell to the human world.

The bones on the Bone Spirit's body were no longer brittle white bones, but instead had a black iron metallic sheen.

It swayed and rattled, its bones cracking.

They ride on a cloud of ghostly mist, moving quite fast, but they cannot fly.

As they got closer, Li Chunfeng's "insight" finally became clear.

[Bone Spirit, a Black Iron-grade skeletal warrior, level nine. It has just emerged from a battle, severely wounded, its soul flame dimmed, its weakness being its head.]

[Bone Spirit, a Black Iron-grade skeletal warrior, level eight. It has just emerged from a battle, severely wounded, its soul flame dimmed, its weakness being its left leg.]

They have clearly reached the first rank, and are all high-level first-rank demons.

Take a look at the current attributes of the Burning Lamp:
[Lighting the Lamp]: Ghost Level 5 → Level 8

【talent】:
I. Soul Devouring (Low-grade Yellow Rank → Mid-grade Yellow Rank)
II. Heart Lamp (Upper-grade Mystic Rank → Lower-grade Earth Rank)

……

"It seems... we can fight."

Li Chunfeng had been watching for so many days, but hadn't encountered a single lone individual. Seeing this opportunity, he immediately decided to give it a try.

Just as he was getting nervous, the skeletal spirit floated straight past him, as if he were nothing.

Li Chunfeng looked bewildered. Had he overslept, or were his injuries so severe that he hadn't even noticed the enemy so close at hand?

Seeing them openly displaying their backs, Li Chunfeng could no longer suppress his killing intent. He waved his hand and shouted, "Randeng, attack!"

Upon hearing the command, the lantern's tiny features bared its teeth, revealing a fierce expression. With a flick of its lantern, it conjured eighty-one clones, which surrounded the area from all directions.

Its true form then vanished and circled back, slyly peeking out from Li Chunfeng's shoulder and glancing sideways.

Li Chunfeng was speechless. Who taught you to fight like this?

He is a man who seeks stability but dislikes procrastination, and now that he is on the edge of the canyon, he fears that delay might lead to unforeseen changes.

The immediate goal is to defeat two opponents with a single blow, aiming for a decisive kill.

"Combined!"

The Burning Lamp Ghost's heart lamp shone brightly, transforming into a stream of light that fell into Li Chunfeng's body.

Li Chunfeng was surrounded by ghostly energy, and his eyes suddenly turned fiery red, as if candle flames were burning in his pupils.

His full head of black hair writhed like a venomous snake, and his fingernails grew by half an inch at a visible speed before being completely dyed black.

The stark white bones on his face grew rapidly like snowflakes, weaving into a tattered bone mask with eerie black patterns branded upon it. Two demonic horns spiraled upwards from his forehead, like sharp blades angrily questioning the heavens.

It is ferocious and sinister, yet possesses a strange and eerie beauty.

A wisp of black mist swirled up from beneath her feet, revealing a nightmare-like black robe that she draped over herself. The bottom of the robe was somewhat tattered, like drooping wildfires, flickering in the cold wind.

"Whoosh~ Hah—"

Li Chunfeng gasped for breath, his body filled with immense soul power.

This was Li Chunfeng's first time merging with a demonic pet and transforming into a demon; he never expected it to look like this.

How can a demon transformed by combining with the Burning Lamp Ghost be so majestic?

Not entirely!

As he observed the inner world of his small inner realm, a sinister black shadow appeared and disappeared in the air. Its large head was covered with black spikes, and a long tail trailed behind it, reaching straight into the void.

"Soul-devouring beast?"

Although he had never seen it before, nor had he ever seen such a strange beast, he instinctively had some information about the shadowy figure in his mind.

Li Chunfeng had a premonition that as his Soul Devouring talent continued to improve, he would eventually have to face this true ferocious beast of heaven and earth.

Fortunately, there was a lamp in the inner scene, like a bright sun, illuminating the entire inner scene and suppressing the shadows.

The Heart Lamp of the lowest rank is terrifying indeed.

There's no doubt that the exaggerated transformation of the combined demon form is most likely due to the changes brought about by the 'Soul Devouring' and 'Heart Lamp' talents.

Donning the nightmare-inducing black robes, his body seemed to blend into the darkness, revealing no trace of his presence.

It's perfect for making things convenient.

"kill!"

The eighty-one Burning Lamp Ghosts opened their mouths in unison and spat out countless soul fireballs the size of walnuts at the two skeletal warriors.

"Ow!"

Sparks flew everywhere, and the two bone spirits were caught off guard, losing many bones in a single blow.
