Chapter 290 The Three-Body Problem
Filming and post-production were carried out simultaneously, and the crew filmed many night scenes.
At the beginning, the props and special effects teams were the most exhausted. In order to meet the deadline, they had to drink energy drinks and strong tea to stay awake.
Heart rates were soaring, and team members were at risk of sudden death at any moment.
We can work hard, but the premise is to ensure the health of every staff member.
The construction period was therefore extended.
Even so, everyone was exhausted.
A team documented the work of the "Three-Body Problem" production team and edited it into a documentary.
Song Hao himself would also write his daily diary on his computer while soaking his feet and resting at night.
In May, the most important event was the filming of "Operation Guzheng".
The Three-Body Problem tells the story of the entire Earth, not just the country of China.
Humanity is experiencing an unprecedented science fiction crisis, with alien civilizations potentially invading Earth at any moment.
Just like the idea in the movie "The Wandering Earth", humanity can only remain united when faced with a huge disaster.
People from all countries gathered together.
To faithfully recreate the original script of "The Three-Body Problem," the production team managed to bring together thirty-six people from different regions, along with a professional translator.
It involved seven continents and invited many of the world's leading powers to a conference on the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind.
They all communicate using their native languages.
If described verbally, this scene would be nothing special, lasting at most seven or eight minutes.
However, filming was actually extremely difficult, with communication being a major problem.
With a mix of languages, the scene would appear quite chaotic and illogical without careful planning by the production team.
Most importantly, Song Hao needs to revise his script.
If everyone speaks Chinese, the play will feel very unrealistic.
They still require speaking one's mother tongue! Therefore, the lines of the speakers from different countries need to be adapted according to their different requirements.
This one task alone took up an entire day.
The final result was satisfactory.
In the main conference hall, General Chang Weisi sat at the head of the table, expressing his stance. Military leaders from various countries were also exchanging views at this moment.
This scene lasts a full twelve and a half minutes and was filmed in a very hardcore style. Because the 129th Division was used to film the scene of the human-computer array, they had developed a strong interest in the movie "The Three-Body Problem" and made a cameo appearance in the Guzheng Operation scene.
Some real officers stood behind Chang Weisi. It wasn't until after the scene ended that the commander of the 129th Division found Song Hao.
"I really think that one day our civilization will be invaded by alien civilizations."
"A while ago, I spent an entire day reading the script for 'The Three-Body Problem,' and it was so wonderful."
"There should be a second book to 'The Three-Body Problem'."
There are plans to not only make a second book of "The Three-Body Problem", but also a third book.
After receiving the correct answer, the commander of the 129th Division patted Song Hao heavily on the shoulder. "Director Shen, you absolutely must make 'The Three-Body Problem' a movie!"
"Of course, if you have the time, it would be best to put 'The Three-Body Problem' into writing. I really hope to be able to read your book in a bookstore."
Song Hao agreed.
However, the commander of the 129th Division was unaware that Song Hao was actually a writer, having penned novels such as *Bright Sword*, *The Butterfly Effect*, and *The Night the Comet Came*. It's just that Song Hao's achievements in the film industry were so great that others often overlooked his accomplishments in other fields.
And this statement seems to be a prophecy. Just as the film was released, Song Hao actually finished writing the novel *The Three-Body Problem*, and it was successfully published.
It even broke a series of related records, but that's another story.
August passed quickly, and the pursuit of perfection slowed down the filming progress of the Three-Body Problem movie.
The plot has progressed to three-quarters of its way, and the following scenes will be the climax of the entire movie.
The Three-Body Problem production team split into two groups: the special effects team had to handle the nano-cutting effects in the plot, while Song Hao's crew had to travel a long distance to Panama to film scenes based on the script.
The Panama Canal Incident is also known as the Guzheng Project.
On Judgment Day, a 6-ton giant ship appeared, resembling a moving mountain on land.
When the Three-Body Problem crew filmed this scene, the filming location was Zhejiang, China.
The Three-Body Problem production team put in a lot of effort to accurately simulate the terrain and climate of Panama.
Song Hao's crew doesn't need to worry about these things, because that 6-ton dream ship is docked in the Panama Canal.
During the filming of "The Guzheng Action," Song Hao led the crew abroad.
After arriving at the Panama Canal, Song Hao's crew had a rare period of free time.
They had to wait for suitable weather to film this important scene, and that wait lasted a week.
During this time, Song Hao had a burst of inspiration, and the crew was also busy, filming some scenes near the Panama Canal.
These shots will later become source material, mostly depicting the human landscape and scenery near the Panama Canal.
Song Hao took the photos spontaneously.
Ye Jun, a photography and videography enthusiast, has also taken many photos in the Panama Canal.
On the plane back to China, Ye Jun said to Song Hao, "This is a great place for taking photos."
The Three-Body Problem crew couldn't afford any delays, and Song Hao was getting anxious. Fortunately, the weather was just right a week later, and the crew completed the filming of the relevant scenes.
The trip went smoothly, and upon returning home, the Electric Sail Studio immediately began processing the special effects. One of the most striking scenes in the Guzheng Operation is the nano-slicing of the entire giant ship into uniformly thick slices. This was the scene the production team most hoped to see when the Three-Body Problem movie was officially greenlit, and this scene will become the most important part of the promotional video for "The Three-Body Problem: Earth's Past".
The entire giant ship lay on the shore in fragments. This scene lasted no more than 30 seconds, but it took a long time to produce.
First, the special effects team took into account the reported stress conditions, as the deformation would vary depending on the stress.
The giant ship was cut into several pieces, and each piece was different. The special effects team specially consulted mechanics experts to conduct simulations and finally completed this shot.
The troubles are not over yet. Perhaps the previous filming went too smoothly, and director Song Hao ran out of good luck, leading to numerous difficulties in filming The Three-Body Problem and new troubles. Many problems await the crew to deal with.
An important scene was to be filmed at the beach, but on the day of filming, there was a fierce storm.
The typhoon caused immense suffering for every staff member, who filmed the scene almost entirely under strong winds.
The conditions are tough, but we must learn to overcome them.
Staff working on the boat face difficulties in moving around and must secure their equipment to prevent it from being blown away by strong winds, often resulting in props flying around.
The strong winds often brought torrential rain. On the day of location scouting, director Song Hao, wearing a raincoat, directed the filming in the storm.
Fortunately, it was only a natural disaster, not a man-made one.
Throughout July, the production team focused all their efforts on the climax of Operation Red Coast. (End of Chapter)
