Chapter 41 Please Show Yourself (Please Read On)
After an incense stick had burned, Su Chen walked out of the county government office, followed by his clerk.

"Have a safe journey, Mr. Yang," the advisor said respectfully.

Su Chen nodded, turned and left, his figure quickly disappearing at the end of the street.

After leaving the county government office, Su Chen did not immediately go to complete the bounty mission. He first went home and then went to the blacksmith shop.

The old blacksmith recognized Su Chen and immediately stepped forward upon seeing him. Su Chen asked, "Is my weapon finished yet?"

"It's ready."

As he spoke, the old blacksmith took out a modified goose feather knife and handed it to Su Chen, saying, "I also modified the scabbard."

Su Chen took the weapon without saying much, and after examining it for a while, he drew out the improved version of the Goose Feather Blade.

He heard a 'ding' sound the moment he drew the blade, and nodded in satisfaction as he looked at the smooth, sharp blade.

"This is twenty taels of silver."

Then, Su Chen took out twenty taels from his pocket and handed them to the old blacksmith, who happily accepted the silver.

Amidst the old blacksmith's joyful smile, Su Chen left the blacksmith's shop with the knife.

After a meal, Su Chen returned home, changed into a black overcoat, and instantly became much more imposing.

He placed the modified goose-feather knife into the severed arm, close to the hidden arm, and after examining it carefully, found that it was no different from usual, and then he was relieved.

Then, he tested the ease of use. At first, it was a bit slow, but after drawing the knife and swinging it a few times, he gradually became more proficient.

However, looking at the black coat that had been torn when he drew the knife, Su Chen smiled wryly: "The effect was pretty good, but it wore out the clothes quite a bit."

Fortunately, Su Chen had bought enough black coats, so he didn't mind.

After practicing for a while, Su Chen stopped: "I don't know if it's because of the new knife, but my movements are still a bit flawed. I'll practice at home for the next couple of days so that I won't fall short when it comes to actual combat."

The task entrusted by the county magistrate is in three days; there is still time.

He plans to practice more over the next two days so that when he actually takes action, he will definitely strike with a single, decisive blow.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye, like flowing water, and it was evening of this day.

Su Chen changed his clothes, took a hidden knife and a steel blade, and left White Stone City.

According to information provided by the county government, his target tonight is named Chu Ming, who is ostensibly a businessman but is actually secretly colluding with the Rebirth Sect.

They provided the Rebirth Sect with all sorts of intelligence, and the Rebirth Sect used this intelligence to continuously expand its power.

The government had tried many times to suppress the rebels of the Rebirth Sect, but each attempt failed because the information was leaked in advance.

At midnight tonight, Chu Ming will make contact with the traitors of the Rebirth Sect in the desolate forest in the western suburbs. After they finish their contact, it will be the best time to make a move.

Su Chen didn't care about their deal; his only task for this mission was to kill Chu Ming.

Although Chu Ming was a businessman, he only cared about profit, and in order to sell intelligence, many innocent people were sacrificed.

Even some families that had accumulated good deeds were wiped out because Chu Ming colluded with the Rebirth Sect.

Soon, Su Chen arrived at the desolate forest in the western suburbs, concealed his body, and waited for time to pass.

Time passed slowly, and suddenly, Su Chen heard a faint sound of footsteps coming from not far away.

By the faint moonlight, Su Chen spotted a blurry figure. When the person drew closer, he recognized him as Chu Ming.

Upon seeing that Chu Ming was alone, Su Chen did not make any rash moves. Instead, he held his breath even more and concealed himself.

Sure enough, not long after, three people jumped down from the three trees. Their agile movements made Su Chen's gaze sharpen. "Did you bring the things?"

All three were dressed in black and had their faces covered. Upon seeing Chu Ming, they asked in low voices.

Su Chen couldn't hear their voices at all, and in the pitch black, he couldn't decipher what they were saying from their lip movements.

Chu Ming nodded without speaking, but took the item out of his pocket and handed it to the leader.

After inspecting the area, the leader looked at Chu Ming, who nodded. Then, Chu Ming suddenly turned around and scanned the area.

Suddenly, Su Chen heard Chu Ming shout, "May I ask which hero is hiding in the shadows spying on us? Please show yourself!"

Upon hearing this, Su Chen instinctively wanted to get up, but he stopped abruptly. He calmed himself down and made no sound.

But his eyes kept darting around, as if trying to find out where the person Chu Ming had discovered was.

"I've been lying in ambush here for so long without noticing anyone else appearing. How did this guy find out?"

After watching for a while, Su Chen did not find anyone else and began to have some doubts.

"Could he have spotted me? But that's impossible. I was dozens of meters away from him, and I had been holding my breath the whole time. How could he have spotted me? And when did he spot me?"

Thinking this, Chu Ming's voice rang out again: "If you are unwilling to show yourself, then don't blame me for taking matters into my own hands."

Su Chen remained motionless, continuing to lie prone, his eyes fixed on Chu Ming, waiting for the other party to make a move.

He planned to kill Chu Ming with one blow when the other party attacked him, and then leave before the three could react.

As Su Chen waited, he realized something was wrong. After Chu Ming finished speaking, he simply walked around once but did not make a move.

In addition, Su Chen discovered that the other three people were the same.

Seeing this, Su Chen immediately realized that he had almost been tricked by them.

"What 'I've already found you'? That's just a trick to fool children. I almost fell for it!"

Su Chen was somewhat speechless. Fortunately, he had been cautious and hadn't immediately revealed his true colors after hearing what the other party said.

Otherwise, they would probably be surrounded by four people by now.

Shaking his head to calm himself down, Su Chen did not show up until Chu Ming left.

"Damn it, these guys are even more cunning than me!"

Because he had almost been tricked, Su Chen was extra careful and did not show himself after they left.

Sure enough, not long after, he saw the three who had left return, hiding in the tree and silently observing the surroundings.

If Su Chen had gotten up just now, the three of them might have noticed him.

After waiting for a while longer, Su Chen watched the three figures disappear before finally letting out a sigh of relief.

Even though he hadn't made a move against Chu Ming yet, he felt even more exhausted than if he had a good fight. These guys are really cunning!
Su Chen stood up, brushed the weeds off his clothes, his expression shifting uncertainly. After a long while, his eyes flickered.

"This Chu Ming is much more cautious than I imagined."

"If I were to take action against Chu Ming directly based on the information provided by the government, I'm afraid I would fall into their trap."

"Let's abandon tonight's operation. It's not too late to take action after I've investigated Chu Ming's movements myself. Anyway, Tao Wenxuan didn't give me a deadline!"

Thinking this, Su Chen did not walk in the direction Chu Ming left, but instead left in another direction.
