Jiang Chuan gently patted Li Yi's hand and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here, everything will be alright."

He turned to the others and smiled, "Taking photos is prohibited inside, you can't act alone, and most importantly, never look back."

"How about we have a race to see who can get out first?"

Everyone echoed in unison, their faces showing tension, but even more so excitement for the unknown adventure.

Pushing open the heavy door, a cold wind rushed in, carrying with it the smell of decay and dampness.

The world behind the door seemed completely isolated from the outside world; the dim yellow light flickered, stretching the surrounding shadows into strange shapes.

Upon entering the haunted house, Li Yi clung tightly to Jiang Chuan's clothes, and the two cautiously made their way along the corridor.

The walls are covered with yellowed medical records and blurry old photos, and those distorted smiles and empty eyes seem to be telling untold stories.

Suddenly, a series of hurried footsteps came from around the corner ahead, followed by the fleeting figure of a female nurse. She was covered in blood, and her face wore a tragic smile that sent chills down one's spine.

Li Yi exclaimed in surprise and hid behind Jiang Chuan.

Jiang Chuan calmed himself and said softly, "Don't be afraid, this is all part of the design." He squeezed Li Yi's hand and continued exploring forward.

Jiang Chuan and Li Yi's footsteps slowly came to a stop at the end of the gloomy corridor, where an old wooden door blocked their way.

Dim, flickering light peeked through the crack in the door, accompanied by intermittent low humming, filling the entire space with a sense of oppression and unease.

"It seems this is the place we need to go in." Jiang Chuan stared at the creaking door, his gaze resolute.

Li Yi bit her lower lip tightly, her face pale, but she still tried her best to keep up with Jiang Chuan's pace.

She asked in a low voice, "What...will it be like inside?"

"Maybe... it's a ghost."

"Don't scare me!"

Li Yi couldn't help but tighten her grip on Jiang Chuan's hand.

"Don't be afraid, I will protect you!"

Jiang Chuan responded with an encouraging smile and gently pushed open the door.

The scene behind the door made the two of them gasp – it was a morgue that looked like it hadn't been used in a long time.

Several rusty iron beds were covered with tattered white cloths. A swaying oil lamp hung in the center of the room, its faint light barely illuminating the surroundings, but also deepening the eeriness of the shadows.

"We need to find the key here." Jiang Chuan lowered his voice, looked around, and finally his gaze fell on an iron bed in the far corner.

Mustering his courage, Jiang Chuan slowly walked towards the iron bed, with Li Yi following closely behind, her palms already sweating.

The moment Jiang Chuan reached out to lift the white cloth, the entire space seemed to hold its breath.

"Get ready, Li Yi." Jiang Chuan took a deep breath and slowly lifted the sheet.

The scene under the white cloth was not as terrifying as expected, but it was strangely eerie—a blank piece of paper lay there quietly, as if it had been prepared specifically for them.

Jiang Chuan picked up the note, which read in red ink: "The key is under the gaze of the Eye of Truth."

Li Yi looked at Jiang Chuan in confusion: "The Eye of Truth? Does it refer to something in this room?"

Jiang Chuan looked around and noticed a broken mirror hanging under the oil lamp. The cracks in the mirror resembled eyes, conveying an indescribable meaning. "Could this be it?"

Approaching the mirror, they discovered that the cracks formed a peculiar pattern, seemingly hinting at something.

Li Yi gently touched one of the larger shards, unexpectedly opening a hidden drawer where a bronze key lay quietly.

"We found it!" Li Yi exclaimed softly, her tone filled with excitement and relief.

Just as they were about to leave, something seemed to be moving slowly in the shadows on the other side of the room, making a faint rustling sound, like the sound of clothes rubbing together, but it was hard to be sure.

Jiang Chuan quickly pulled Li Yi toward the door, whispering, "No matter what you hear, don't turn around."

Just as I was about to step out the door, a whisper, seemingly from the abyss, echoed behind me: "Remember, not everyone who leaves truly escapes..."

The door slammed shut behind them, shutting out the chilling sound.

Li Yi clung tightly to Jiang Chuan, both of them still breathing. They looked at each other, their eyes filled with both lingering fear and a determination to overcome the difficulties together.

The two walked quietly, and suddenly, under the flickering light, it seemed that only the door to an operating room was illuminated...

The operating room door opened silently, and a strong smell of disinfectant mixed with years of dust wafted out.

Under the dim light, the operating table appeared particularly cold, and the stainless steel instruments reflected a faint light, as if each one had an unfinished story.

Jiang Chuan and Li Yi exchanged a nervous glance and walked inside.

"Operating room?" Li Yi whispered, her hand unconsciously tightening its grip on Jiang Chuan's arm.

"Looks like it is."

Jiang Chuan scanned his surroundings, his gaze finally settling on the seemingly ordinary operating table in the center. "If the clues are here, then..."

His voice gradually faded into the air, and the two men's attention was drawn to the corpse lying still on the operating table.

It was a simulated corpse made of plastic. Although it wasn't real, it was enough to send chills down one's spine in the dim light.

"Where could the key be?" Li Yi asked softly, her gaze darting around, trying to find the answer in this enclosed space.

“Remember the last clue,” Jiang Chuan pondered for a moment, “the key is under the gaze of the Eye of Truth. If the truth here refers to anatomy, then…”

He paused for a moment, then walked straight to the surgical instrument table and took off a pair of gloves and several tools: a scalpel, surgical scissors, and a needle holder.

“We need to perform an informal surgery,” Jiang Chuan said, putting on gloves and trying to keep his voice steady to reassure Li Yi.

Li Yi swallowed hard and nodded. Although she was unwilling, she was willing to face this fear in order to move forward.

"What do I need to do?" Li Yi asked cautiously.

Jiang Chuan glanced around and pointed to the hemostat next to him.

"We might need this later, so bring it over first."

"okay!"

She picked up the hemostat from the side and followed Jiang Chuan to the operating table.

As the scalpel gently cut open the sutures on the simulated corpse's abdomen, Jiang Chuan's movements were both careful and decisive.

Li Yi, meanwhile, gently probed with a needle holder to help search for any potentially hidden items.

The air was thick with tension and focus, and the sound of each collision of the equipment was clearly audible.

There's something here.

Jiang Chuan's voice broke the silence. He carefully removed a sealed glass bottle from the abdominal cavity of the simulated corpse with surgical forceps. Inside the bottle was a small copper key, which was gleaming with a mysterious light.

"found it!"

"It scared me to death... This is the first time I've ever done this kind of dissection work..."

Li Yi breathed a sigh of relief, her tense body finally relaxing.

Just as the two were preparing to pack up their tools and leave, a low mechanical roar suddenly sounded in the operating room, as if some equipment had been accidentally activated.

The lights began to flicker, and the entire room was enveloped in an unsettling blue glow.

"Quick, we have to get out of here!" Jiang Chuan grabbed Li Yi and rushed toward the exit. However, at that moment, the simulated corpse on the operating table sat up on its own, staring blankly at them. Although they knew it was just another special effect, the sudden change still sent chills down their spines.

"Let's go, ignore it!"

Jiang Chuan shouted loudly, practically dragging Li Yi out of the operating room, with the roar of machinery and those lifeless eyes behind them.

The door slammed shut behind them, leaving all the eeriness and unease in the room.

Still shaken, Li Yi bounced up and down.

"Oh my god, Jiang Chuan, that's terrifying!"

Unlike those strange beasts, where death is simply death, this place exudes a genuine atmosphere of terror that completely envelops the entire person inside…

too frightening.

Jiang Chuan looked at her. "Are you scared? If you are, we're not playing anymore. Let's go outside."

"No!"

Li Yi suddenly looked at Jiang Chuan with determination, "I want to play more!"

"it is good!"

Jiang Chuan held Li Yi's hand and carefully groped forward.

The two walked through a narrow corridor. The walls here were different from the previous gloomy and desolate ones. Instead, they were decorated with bloodstains that seemed to have been deliberately arranged, like dried-up rivers outlining distorted images on the pale walls.

Each step echoed as if conversing with the souls of the past, and a suffocating sense of oppression filled the air.

"This place is getting more and more interesting."

Jiang Chuan spoke casually, but his eyes revealed a hint of wariness.

Li Yi gripped his hand tightly, almost feeling his heart pounding, but she still mustered her courage and asked, "Where are we going next?"

"Perhaps... it will be here."

Jiang Chuan pointed to a half-open door at the end of the corridor. The light coming through the crack in the door was unusually dim, as if it foreshadowed an even more unfathomable scene behind the door.

Pushing open the door, they entered a doctor's office that had been left unused for a long time.

The clinic was simply furnished, with an old-fashioned examination table in the center, on which lay several yellowed medical books and some broken medical instruments.

A human anatomy diagram hangs on the wall, with the various organs labeled in a strange way, as if they were some kind of code or guide.

"Look, there's a message here."

Li Yi discovered that on a small blackboard next to the examination table, the words were scrawled in white chalk: "Only by finding my lost heart can the door to the truth be opened."

heart?

Jiang Chuan frowned, looked around, and finally his gaze fell on an old cabinet in the corner of the room.

The cabinet was locked, and it was clear that a puzzle needed to be solved to open it.

"Could the lost heart be a metaphor?" Li Yi speculated softly. "Perhaps it refers to a key item hidden in this room."

Just as they were discussing, a faint panting sound seemed to come from under the examination table, instantly putting both of them on edge.

Jiang Chuan slowly squatted down and carefully pulled open the drawer under the examination table.

There was no heart inside, only a tattered diary with a mottled cover, as if it held countless secrets.

"This is……"

Jiang Chuan opened the diary, which recorded the daily life of a young doctor and his research on a strange disease.

The last page reads: "My patients, their hearts... have been stolen... the real cause lies hidden..."

The conversation ended abruptly there, leaving the reader with endless room for imagination.

Where is it hidden?

Li Yi asked anxiously, noticing that the heart section on the anatomical chart on the examination table seemed to protrude more than the other parts, as if it could be pressed down.

"Try this."

Jiang Chuan encouraged Li Yi, who hesitated for a moment, but finally pressed the heart position in the picture.

The examination table suddenly vibrated slightly, then slowly rose, revealing a hidden space below.

Inside was a glass bottle containing a crystal-clear, seemingly man-made heart model.

The surface of the heart model is engraved with exquisite patterns, and a small key is embedded in the center.

"This must be the heart we've been looking for," Li Yi said, somewhat surprised.

"It seems so."

Jiang Chuan took the key and examined it carefully.

They locked the consultation room door again and used the newly found key to open the door to the next room.

Behind the door was a staircase.

"Should we go up?"

Li Yi asked somewhat cautiously.

"of course."

Jiang Chuan glanced at the warning sign: "Danger, Do Not Enter".

"Since it's an adventure... then we must embrace the challenge!"

Just then, bursts of crying came from inside... Li Yi unconsciously tightened her grip on Jiang Chuan's hand.

As they climbed higher, the faint weeping grew clearer, tinged with an indescribable sorrow that sent a chill down one's spine.

At the end of the stairs was a dark and narrow corridor, and the door to the room at the end was half-open. The crying was coming from there.

"Listen, it's a little girl's voice," Li Yi said softly, her voice filled with both curiosity and barely concealed nervousness.

Jiang Chuan nodded and tiptoed towards the door. A faint light shone through the crack in the door, seemingly beckoning them to explore the unknown.

"We have to be careful," he whispered, one hand already poised to push the door open at any moment.

The moment the door was gently pushed open, the crying stopped abruptly, and the air seemed to freeze.

Inside the room, moonlight streamed through the tattered curtains onto an old hospital bed. The bed was empty, with only the rustling sound of the curtains being moved by a gentle breeze.

"Strange, where is everyone?" Li Yi looked around, her doubts growing stronger like the air in the room.

Suddenly, a childish voice rang out from behind them: "Who are you looking for?"

The two turned around abruptly and saw a little girl standing quietly at the end of the corridor, wearing an outdated hospital gown, her hair disheveled, her face pale, only her eyes shining with a light that seemed otherworldly.

Jiang Chuan and Li Yi looked at each other, their hearts skipping a beat.

Jiang Chuan tried to calm himself and spoke gently, "Little sister, are you crying? Where are your parents?" (End of Chapter)
