Chapter 363 Solomon's Legacy
According to the system's prompts, the sixth volume of the Encyclopedia of Magic can be roughly categorized as "War Emperor," but it contains concepts beyond just controlling armies, demonic contracts, or ritual magic that communicates with hell.
During the reading process, Lin An divided the contents of this book, "The Complete Book of Magic," into three categories.
First is Solomon's magic manual, "The Key of Solomon," also known as the Great Key of Solomon or the Collarbone of Solomon, a set of magic manuals used to deal with demons, angels, and other forces.
This book is the source of most books on demonology, black magic, or white magic. It is said to have been written by the legendary King Solomon, who prayed to God for wisdom and commanded an army of demons to build great works according to his will.
In the first century AD, the historian Josephus mentioned a book of spells used to summon and ward off demons, which he claimed was written by Solomon after reading the Book of Roziel, an angelic text.
Josephus rewrote King Solomon's spellbook, compiling it into operational guidelines for various ritual magic, spellcasting, acquiring treasure and love, obtaining magical pets, and summoning and controlling souls to perform various tasks.
Unfortunately, due to war, migration, and language and translation issues, the legendary Key of Solomon has long been simplified in different versions.
Based on legends, people can only speculate that the original version contained a large number of real names related to the souls of demons and angels, as well as their power and duties in the spirit world, and even the powerful name of God.
Over the centuries, The Key to Solomon has been mentioned in literary works, its scale and content have continued to grow, making it increasingly difficult to determine the original text.
Another relatively complete and equally important magic book in the history of Western occultism is called "Lemegeton, the Lesser Key of Solomon." It is said to have originally been written in Chaldean and Hebrew, but its origin is even more difficult to verify.
Mystic Walter Butler called it "a more sublime work than The Key of Solomon" because the book "deploys all the hierarchies of hell, invoking souls billions of times."
The Little Key first appeared in the public eye in 1563 when demonologist John Weil published "Pseu-domonarchia Daemonum" in Latin, extensively quoting from the Little Key.
Michael Scott later translated it into English in his book "The Discovery of Magic," which led to the widespread circulation of this book on demonology.
The small key lists the titles, seals, duties, powers, and general appearances of the 72 fallen angels.
These demons all possess teaching skills in science and art, and the ability to cause terrible diseases and disasters. The Little Key also mentions the corresponding angels who stop each demon, although most of this information and text comes from the apocryphal Book of Enoch.
In fact, 90% of the popular culture about demonology and black magic in modern society originates from the minor key, rather than the orthodox major key.
As for the third part, "The Complete Book of Magic VI" mentions the elusive legend of "Solomon's Last Words".
This text is Solomon's last testament, filled with knowledge of demonology, angelology, as well as medicine, astrology, and magic.
It mentions methods to defeat the world's seven "rulers" and their greatest "bad habits".
Unfortunately, the manuscript of this will was lost around the 1st century AD, and mystics have only read scattered records of it in some Greek texts.
Although Solomon's treasures can be traced back to antiquity, the Complete Book of Magic VI does not contain many ancient entries, and according to Lin An's estimate, its rating is around disaster.
Just like in "The Complete Book of Magic V: The Wanderer Asks the Heavens and Earth", the later the number of the ancient book, the more incomplete the entries and the lower the rating.
Fortunately, they all possess great potential.
Although there are no new entries for summoning demons, The Encyclopedia of Magic VI provides "cheat sheets" for dealing with demons, including each demon's likes and dislikes, taboos, and keywords to use when facing them to more easily achieve your goals.
It also includes several fumigation recipes, seals and sigils for creation, as well as auxiliary entries for magic circles, magic triangles and pentagrams, each of which can enhance an individual's abilities when controlling a demon.
In other words, these are "amplification entries" that need to be used in conjunction with a real "demon," somewhat like the "method of lighting the contract candle" in "Black Magic and Contracts."
However, when demonology was mentioned, Lin An immediately recalled several related entries he had collected.
"System, can you trace the entries 'The 72 Demons of King Solomon I: Barbatos' and 'The Complete Book of Magic VI'?"
"The tracing is complete. With your witness, the rating of the entry 'The Encyclopedia of Magic VI: Cooperating with the Devil - Contracts, Symbols, and Taboos of the Kings and Nobles of Hell' has been upgraded."
Sure enough, any entry related to demonology could be included.
The experiment was successful, but Lin An did not stop.
"System, continue tracing the entries 'The Hidden Master I: The Great Magical Grimoire' and 'The Complete Book of Magic VI'."
"The tracing is complete. With your witness, the rating of the entry 'The Encyclopedia of Magic VI: Cooperating with the Devil - Contracts, Symbols, and Taboos of the Kings and Nobles of Hell' has been upgraded."
Great, I've reached Mythic level in one go.
Unlike regular tracing, these consumed entries did not disappear or randomly reorganize; they were simply all incorporated into "The Encyclopedia of Magic VI," simply reclassified.
In a way, this can be considered one of the capabilities of the mysterious encyclopedia. Unfortunately, it has another unique feature.
Unlike entries that can be traced back to their source at the same rating, to improve the rating of the Encyclopedia of Magic itself, one must trace back to an entry at a higher rating than the current one; otherwise, one can only further "improve" it.
Unless Lin An obtains the source-level demonology entries, he cannot further improve them.
Regardless, looking at the mysteries listed in "The Encyclopedia of Magic VI", Lin An felt a sense of exhilaration.
That's probably the charm of match-3 games.
The new "Complete Book of Magic" gave him more flexibility in battle. Moreover, Lin An made up his mind to keep the appointment because he originally wanted to go to the Masina region.
Some time ago, he used fragments of the Piccardix to trace the location of the other two fingers of the Creator God.
“This is a finger, and it comes from Nzambhi Mpengu, the creator of the universe.”
"It is located on the upper eastern side of the Kalenga Line, and was once held by the Sorcerer of the Four Living Gods, representing the 'Conception' stage. It is located on the Southern Continent, and is not separated from my location by any ocean; I can walk there."
"This means it's not to my west, nor to my east, but hidden in the south or north—I can get it if I go south of Kinsasha."
As Lin An wrote the story, he suddenly found it difficult to continue. It was as if a premonition told him that, based on the existence of objective facts, his prediction of the "future trajectory" was invalid.
In other words, is the third finger in the north of Kinsasha?
Despite his reluctance, Linan had to cross the Niger River and the so-called Massina region to reach the north.
Now, regardless of whether the Tyrant has issued a challenge or not, he will have to cross that plain sooner or later.
The fact that the tyrant could travel all the way to Kinsasha and pinpoint Lin An from among tens of millions of people indicates that he possessed some form of long-range tracking capability. He must have noticed Lin An's approach to the vicinity of the Niger River.
Since battle is unavoidable, it's better to be fully prepared and face it head-on, so that we won't be caught off guard when attacked.
The data moved with his thoughts. Lin An sorted out the entries and caught a glimpse of two entries in the same category out of the corner of his eye: "The Spirit Living Beyond the Rainbow I: Makanja Mahongu" and "The Spirit Living Beyond the Rainbow I: Mmunma Mbadilanda".
He confirmed with the system that as long as he consumed one "Lady with the Lamp" medium, he could trace back to these two C-level sources and obtain a powerful entry of B-level or higher source.
The creation myth of the Bantu... and the abilities related to the universe and reincarnation.
Unfortunately, Lin An cannot do that for the time being.
The reason is simple: when Tshisekedi was overthrown, Lin An used mystical arts to brainwash more than 10,000 ordinary citizens and soldiers of Kinsasha. They had no independent thought and could only sing "Long live the chief! Long live the president!"
In a moment of desperation, Lin An had locked them in the Nirvana of the River within the [Mumumma Mbatilanda] space, making them repeat 24-hour time fragments over and over again.
Lin An originally planned to release them after the situation in Kinsasha stabilized and Misuru successfully took office as president.
Even if these people fervently support Tshisekedi, vandalize ballot boxes everywhere, and hold protest marches with signs, it will be too late; the die is cast.
Unexpectedly, one surprise followed another. After the tyrant declared war, local officials in eastern Bantu took the opportunity to unite, delay the election, and refuse to recognize the voting results.
The new president's inauguration has been delayed time and again. To this day, Misuru has not officially become the leader of the Bantu Kingdom. The World Tree is merely a "provisional government" with a temporary ruler.
Although in the current situation where the radiation from "Comerth" is rampant, the laws of civilized society are as thin as a piece of paper, the intervention capabilities of international organizations are almost non-existent, and every place is already too busy to take care of itself.
Even so, Lin An did not want to release those brainwashed Tsekedi supporters. After all, they were more than ten thousand eloquent mouths who would inevitably stir up trouble in the streets and alleys, doing everything possible to tarnish the image of the World Tree.
Sigh, let's keep them locked up for a while longer.
"Ding dong!"
The elevator doors on the top floor opened, interrupting Lin An's thoughts.
Lin Xile opened her eyes and saw a person looking around as they walked in, but she didn't notice the alchemical life form that was "stuck" to the ceiling in liquid form.
It is architect Fu Bin.
Remembering the email he had just received, Lin An pressed the button.
"Architect, come to my office." (End of Chapter)
