Chapter 341 Cold Shot
Chapter 341 Cold Shot
Lin An used the Hittite ritual to reap countless lives. Its damage involves the soul, so the target will suffer indescribable extreme pain before dying.
When Jacob fell onto the small boat as lightly as a piece of paper, calmly feeling the waves rocking him, he knew the other man wasn't quite dead.
“This book is your true form, Chairman Shang.” Lin An picked up the pages of “Picardix” that were not yet soaked with water. “You are a genuine ‘paper doll’.”
Jacob reached out to shield his eyes from the midday sun, but the sunlight pierced directly through the hole in his palm, shining on his twitching eyelids.
"The translator has published quite a few copies of 'Picardi'."
“And I burned the Latin version.” Lin An waved his hand, and the fountain pen that had been floating on the sea landed in his palm. The metallic energy returned to the Philosopher’s Stone, restoring it to its original state. “There were also Spanish, English, Flemish…”
“There are countless copies of Piccardiix in the world, just as there are countless stars in the sky, and countless martyrs in the Roman Empire,” Jacob said. “Forester, you have murdered the Lord’s missionary, and revenge will come for you.”
He's about to unleash his "death whisper".
Rose ascends to heaven.
Lin An remembered that word; Zai had mentioned its effect: destroy oneself and kill the enemy.
"Tsk, why isn't he coming? What is that guy up to?! Wait until I'm back in a safe place..."
Jacob grunted, leaned back, and let gravity throw him off the swaying boat, splashing him into the blue-green Atlantic Ocean.
"Consummatum Est (It's over)!"
The little shark was frightened and circled around the coral reef, but it couldn't find the Red Poppy Merchant Guild Master, who seemed to have melted away like a wax figure.
"It's all over, old Deng."
Lin An muttered to himself, quickly pocketing the few copies of "Picardiix" until an ominous cold wind blew in.
He looked around, and as expected, the medieval Flemish altarpieces made a comeback, the sixteen panels covered in linseed oil surrounding him menacingly.
The beautiful, ethereal, and thought-provoking atmosphere is gone; there are no choirs or saints, replaced instead by a T-shaped third-order composition.
Above Lin An’s head, a rosebud swelled, bloomed proudly, and then withered and died. At its center was a golden, glowing dove and a pair of feet that seemed exceptionally unreachable. Around him stood naked, trembling men and women.
They spontaneously formed a long line, sobbing, repenting, and praying as they walked down the steps.
Lin An lowered his head. The flames of hell were burning fiercely, and the demons laughed loudly. They had strange faces that resembled both sheep and humans. They raised their whips and lashed the void. The temperature was like a furnace, and the seawater was bubbling and churning.
"The Last Judgment, it's such a classic." Lin An clicked his tongue. "Speaking of which, I and that Messiah are both products of the combination of Ansius's spirit and humanity. Is it possible that the 'brother' on the upper bunk has no problem with me?"
"pagan!"
Pale, ghostly figures of men and women screamed, wielding pitchforks and torches, as they attacked Lin An's four shields. The tribal figures in the murals stood tall, riding monkeys and elephants, defiantly refusing to back down.
"Crack!"
The two immediately fought fiercely, their heads bleeding profusely, until a crack ripped through the shield, and the sound of shattering reached Lin An's ears.
The scorching heat corroded, the flames of hell and the maniacal laughter of demons came like a storm, then turned into a deep void, as if parasites were quickly burrowing into the body.
Even with half of my divine power protecting the Chamber of Commerce's reputation, I am still no match for the renowned Jacob.
Compared to the Red Poppy Merchant Guild, the World Tree is far too young and weak.
"Boom! Boom!"
The shockwaves of war traveled through the shield, and the murderous intent painted on the altar was only weakened by half.
Lin An understood that if he were hit by it, he would most likely not die, but the purest energy of "Comers" would probably cause him serious or irreversible damage.
Although he didn't know exactly what it was, Lin An refused to accept his fate.
It wasn't because he had become afraid of death, but rather because whenever he was attacked or devoured by the "Lady with the Lamp" medium, he seemed to lose something.
He no longer wanted any of his companions to pay the price for his pursuit of "Commerx".
"You have received a message from user Ranger_7. Do you want to check the user's status immediately?"
The system's prompts were muffled yet calm. Lin An breathed a sigh of relief, bringing the four shields closer to him until they were almost touching his skin, before suddenly pushing them away.
The frenzied witch hunters, demons, and flames all retreated a circle. In their eyes, which gleamed with an unreal light, the figures in the murals threw down their weapons, knelt on the ground, and sang sacrificial songs as their images gradually faded and disappeared.
Lin An made a gesture of clicking on the floating data, and a video of surveillance footage flashed by.
"Believe in indirect miracles."
…………
"Very good, continue to seize their assets and properties."
"Drink some truth serum and throw those people who know the truth into the sea—they all disrespected me—yes, thank you, brother—don't let me see the waves again tomorrow morning."
Madame Adamek twirled the ring on her ring finger and casually made a gesture as if she were cutting her throat.
"Deal with things in Abishang first. Don't take the opportunity to extend your reach to the entire Kingdom of Lacono, unless you want to be dealt with by the 'mysterious ones' of 'Commes'... I know, but we don't have any deep-seated hatred. A few tire necklaces are enough to make them pay the price."
Tire necklaces, a form of torture in Ivory Coast, involved hanging tires around the necks of prisoners and setting them on fire, causing them to suffocate alive from the thick smoke.
After hanging up the phone, the lady smoothed her newly combed hair and glanced at the man in black who stood ramrod straight.
"Haha, so nobody can see me?" she said with a self-deprecating and sarcastic smile. "Looks like from now on I'll not only only be able to appear at noon, but I'll also only be able to communicate with you by phone and email."
No one answered. The men in black remained at their posts, checking their watches from time to time. They dutifully awaited her return, even though everyone felt that the lady had recently become somewhat obsessed.
She trusted a priest who spouted nonsense more than her family and relatives.
But they wouldn't criticize her, because Dorgon Gilgud's family members never blamed one another. The more she looked at the loyal faces of her subordinates, the stronger the anger in her heart grew. The guild master and the voodoo priest had hurt her, her husband's reputation, and the hearts of her family members for their own selfish desires.
This is a tremendous insult.
No one can belittle a Dorgon Gilgud and then walk away.
If only I could ruthlessly rip out the chairman of the chamber of commerce without resorting to formal conflict.
Thinking of the mysterious powers of the forest rangers, voodoo priests, and the guild master, Mrs. Adamek propped her head up. She knew that she could only deal with the ordinary people and secular businesses of the opposing organization, and could not truly cripple them or even kill them.
The world is changing, and all power and classes are being reshuffled.
The lady's anger melted away, replaced by a sense of overwhelming fear.
This force inexplicably took away my body. How am I supposed to adapt to it? My family can't even see me anymore.
Will I be killed by other mysterious figures?
Will I die alone?
Suddenly, an inexplicable gaze came from behind. Mrs. Adamek immediately noticed it; she could sense any unfriendly aura within hundreds of meters.
A fair-skinned face was pressed against the window, staring at her intently.
Can he see me?
The lady suddenly stood up, startling the man, who fled in panic.
"and many more!"
The lady lifted her skirt, which was as light as sunlight, and was about to run out the door when she paused for a moment and passed through the wall.
As she stood in the sun, an unprecedented clarity, determination, and power welled up within her, and she found her own form to be clearer.
As she ran, passersby seemed to hear the clatter of her high heels on the ground and stopped to look.
Life after being chosen by "Commerx" wasn't as terrifying as I had imagined.
"Snapped!"
The figure she was chasing jogged along and slipped into a circular building. Without a second thought, Mrs. Adamek gave chase.
The guards at the door couldn't see her at all, allowing the lady to barge in.
The figure climbed four flights of stairs in a row, and she followed closely behind him. Her body was as light as a beam of reflected light. As she passed a patrolling security guard, she had a premonition that if she swung her whip, the man's head would explode like a watermelon.
Her health is better than before.
No matter how heavy her clothes were, she never needed anyone's help.
The exhilaration of running freely thrilled the lady. At that moment, her only thought was to catch up with the figure in front of her and ask him something. The melancholy that had plagued her for years vanished.
Simple joy made her run wildly without a care in the world, until a figure pushed open a heavy door, and Mrs. Adamek followed closely behind.
"crunch-"
Behind the door was a small screening room; it turned out the figure had escaped into the movie theater.
The small sun behind her head illuminated the dark space, and the lady was astonished to find that the figure had vanished into thin air.
The almost empty screening room contained only a wooden table, a projector, and a roll of tape.
strangeness.
"Commerx's" invisibility gave the lady the illusion of omnipotence. She picked up the roll of film, on which she had written a message in blue pen:
"Play it, it's a gift from me to you."
By some strange twist of fate, Mrs. Adamek put it into the player.
"Beep."
The sound and images flickered. The lady glanced at the lower left corner of the monitor, her pupils contracting. It turned out to be the time when the president was assassinated six months ago.
In a familiar-looking office, two people were organizing documents and chatting animatedly.
Before the lady could recognize them, a man in a white shirt and suit trousers barged in. President Lacono stood up with a smile to greet him, but the man raised his gun and fired six shots at the president without hesitation.
"Ping! Ping! Ping!"
President Lacono lay in a pool of blood, his eyes wide with disbelief.
The other man froze for a moment, then turned and ran, only to be met with the man's unwavering aim at his back.
"Ping!"
A flash of light and plume of smoke drew a straight line, striking the fleeing man squarely, who fell backward.
Mrs. Adamek covered her mouth; she recognized the man.
He was her husband who tragically died six months ago!
The killer blew on the smoking gun barrel, turned his head slightly defiantly, revealing a mustache, a hooked nose, and a slightly balding head. The lady's pupils shrank smaller and smaller.
She recognized him!
Even just half a profile!
—This man was none other than Jacob van Hofwegen, the president of the Red Poppy Merchant Guild!
