Chapter 261 Sinbi
Chapter 261 Sinbi
After saying that, Mayer did not respond further.
The Kuba River is by no means a merciful river; countless people tragically drown there every year. Moreover, the Red Poppy Chamber of Commerce recently released radioactive contaminants into the river, making its danger immeasurable.
Fortunately, Lin An could use the system to locate each user of the World Tree. [God's One Eye] turned to the location of the two women, and he flew straight there.
On the turbulent river, a small boat drifts along, like a tiny boat on the sea, with the water already covering most of its hull.
[God's One Eye] Zooming in, Lin An discovered that there was a large hole in the very center of the boat's hull, causing a large amount of river water to gurgle in.
Besides the three Misuru siblings, there was also a hunting party on the boat heading to the market, each of them clinging tightly to the side of the boat, trying their best not to fall into the river.
However, the water level rose extremely quickly, and it seemed that it wouldn't be long before everyone was sinking to the bottom of the river.
"Mezo, Mezo!"
A sorrowful cry mingled with the splashing of the river, and a spray of water slammed into the swaying boat. Mezo, who was weaker than a man, was struck on the head, and immediately saw stars and lost all strength in his fingers.
"Ugh. Water's coming in... How annoying."
After she uttered these nonsensical words, her body, as light as a feather, sank helplessly into the turbulent water.
Maye was horrified and immediately let go, wanting to jump into the river with her sister. Misuru, who was closest to her, grabbed her arm and shouted angrily.
"Maye, are you out of your mind?!"
"Let me go, I have to save her! Mezo, Mezo—!" Meye struggled frantically, her nails scratching Misuru's hands until they were covered in blood.
“You’re just throwing your life away if you jump now, Maye!” Misuru yelled.
"Mezzo and I have been together since birth, never separated for a single day. I will protect her! I will protect her! No matter what, I will save her! Even if it costs me my life!"
"Calm down, you—"
"For me, family will always be the most important thing!"
Maye bit Misuru's thumb, causing him to tremble in pain and loosen his grip slightly. She took the opportunity to break free and jumped into the water with a "plop," leaving Misuru frustrated.
Lin An flew to a position closer to the small boat. He locked onto the fallen Mezo and the following Meyer. Just as he was about to make a move, he suddenly stopped midway.
Because in Meyer's Ranger_10 status bar, the Mysterious One data, which was originally "No data available", suddenly changed. The garbled text flashed like a slot machine, and the chaotic numbers appeared and disappeared one after another, as if a huge bug had occurred.
Have they awakened?
Meyer had been studying occult materials for some time and had even deciphered the entry on "Phantom Spirits," putting her on the verge of becoming a mystic.
Unfortunately, Lin An didn't know the rituals corresponding to each prototype, so he could only offer some suggestions and try to stumble upon them by chance.
He used the "One Eye of God" to monitor Mezzo and Meyer, preventing them from collapsing, and held his breath, intently watching the final result in the status bar.
With his single eye, Meyer dived into the water. Darkness enveloped everything, the icy river water was sharp as a knife, and the shadows of reefs and crocodiles were faintly visible.
The raging torrent of water crashed and lashed against Maye's still-underage, somewhat frail body, but she tried her best to endure the dull pain from her broken bones and looked around, searching for her sister.
Thick black hair fluttered, and through the gaps, Maye saw the unconscious Mezzo floating not far away, only a few meters from her. She quickly swung her limbs towards him with all her might.
“Bang!”
Huge waves rose high, swallowing the familiar figure.
She seemed about to be swept away by the tide forever, and Mayer couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine; fear and panic reached their peak.
Sister, don't go back to the underworld on the Kalenga route!
I don't want to drink your ashes!
Suddenly, her pure black hair radiated turquoise and agate hues, weaving together on its own in a way that was about the width of a finger, hissing as it echoed in Mayer's ears.
snake?
Maye was stunned for a moment, a vague premonition in her heart that she could control these long and thin snakes!
Not only that, when she raised the "snake's" head, many people's whispers came from all directions, rustling and chattering, which gathered into a noisy chatter in her mind.
But Maye didn't find them noisy; rather, they seemed to be guiding her on how to use her hair, showing her how to move freely in the water, and how to become the "queen" of this body of water.
“Cough, cough…”
Following the instructions of one of the voices, Maye coughed violently a few times. Cold water rushed into her lungs, but instead of making her feel suffocated or uncomfortable, it turned into specks of warm energy, and the residue flowed out of her hair.
I can breathe underwater now?
The voices were still enthusiastically teaching Maye to develop new powers, but she had no time to listen to their advice and swam towards Mezzo, who was being swept away by the water.
As the water parted, she felt the rhythm of the river and her own soul were so perfectly in harmony, inseparable.
Maye swam easily to her sister and hugged her tightly.
She no longer needed to swim with all four limbs; energy naturally emanated from her hair, manipulating the water flow to propel her wherever she wanted to go.
"Wow!"
A high column of water shot out from the river, scattering sparkling droplets. Meyer swam upstream and landed steadily on the opposite bank.
However, the moment she landed, the voices around her completely disappeared, and the thin, long snakes returned to normal hair, hanging down wetly and clinging to her skin.
After placing the unconscious Mezo on the ground, Meyer was about to turn back to rescue the other members of her tribe when she saw Lin An manipulating the Philosopher's Stone to retrieve the nearly sunken boat and bring it aground on the shore.
The lion tribesmen filed off the ship, panting heavily as they lay on all fours.
Ah, the Ancestral Spirit has arrived...
As the thought flashed through her mind, Maye suddenly relaxed completely. Her taut nerves snapped, and she felt dizzy. Then she collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
"Meyer! Mezzo!"
Misuru took a short breath and quickly checked on their condition.
The two women are fine. Maye just overused energy after awakening her mystic powers, causing her pollution levels to rise too much, which her body couldn't adapt to and her mind to become overworked.
The system notification sounded in his ear, and Lin An began to check the information of Ranger_10.
"With your witness, [Simby]'s character profile has been unlocked."
"The entry 'Spirits Dwelling Beyond the Rainbow II: Cinby' has been added. You have obtained the media 'God of Agriculture' x3, 'Prophet' x1, and 'Seeker of Knowledge' x1." "By sharing knowledge from 'Comers' with others, the contamination level of the [Mysterious Encyclopedia] has been reduced by 0.6%."
[Name]: Sinby, Spirit of Nature, Voodoo Mercury

Simbi, also known as Cymbee, is the water and nature spirit in the Bantu Kalenga mythology and the Haidahu culture.
This spiritual concept originated in the Bantu culture as a means for them to understand the nature of the spirit.
The word Simbi comes from simba, a Kibanto word meaning "to hold, to keep". A similar phrase is kisímbi kinsí, which translates to "the immortal old man", representing the connection between bisimbi and the land of the living and the dead.
The word basimbi can also be translated as "guardian," and when used in the context of the phrase isimba ia nsi, it means "guardian of the land."
The Bantu people believe that the image of the Sinbi can manifest as a human, a snake, or a gourd vine. It is the guardian of nature and a spiritual guide between the Kusek (the material world of the living) and the Kumpemba (the spiritual world of the ancestors).
In the cross-shaped space of Kalenga, between the earthly world and the spiritual world lies a vast body of water, and Sinbi is one of its inhabitants.
Their activities are unpredictable, but they can lend their power to the living through special mystical means.
In *The Secret of Voodoo*, Milo Rigaud details the nature of the sinbi, how to ask them for linguistic results, and how to use their power.
He called the Sinbi "Voodoo Mercury," which guides souls from the visible to the invisible, directing the souls of the dead to various directions bounded by the four magical directions of the cross. This is the summoning principle of the Legba wand in the Voodoo tradition, and its importance is comparable to the Mercury of alchemy.
The sounds Maye heard in the water came from the spiritual world, and through the spirituality of the water, they gave her a continuous source of energy and knowledge.
After quickly skimming through Sinbi's entries, Lin An sensed the gazes from the Mazuz market side—some enthusiastic, some curious, and some malevolent. He manipulated the airflow to descend, letting the tall vegetation conceal his figure.
He crouched down to inspect the leaky boat.
The hull, which should have been made of hard wood, had a large hole sawn out, filled with a jumble of foam, simply fixed with glue, and coated with a layer of brown dye, so that it would fall apart with the slightest rinsing of the river.
The cut was very new; Lin An even thought it had been made just a few minutes ago.
The shipwreck was a deliberate conspiracy.
The culprit is undoubtedly the Red Poppy Merchant Guild, since no one else has the reason or the capability to build such a dilapidated ship in such a short time, waiting for the Spotted Lion Tribe to fall into their trap.
Synchronizing his inspiration and vision with the "One Eye of God," Lin An found the mastermind's location, but unfortunately he couldn't hear their voices, so he could only secretly memorize their faces.
They look like a bunch of low-level thugs.
Even if we kill them now, it will be of no use and will only expose our mysterious power to the Chamber of Commerce.
Given the enemy's superiority and our own insecurity, this approach is very unwise.
After a moment's thought, Lin An decided to take the spotted lion tribe back to the rainforest for a short rest before making further plans.
…………
On the other side of the Mazuz market, there is one shop that is quite different from the other temporary and simple shops. Its exterior materials are sturdy and light-blocking, and it is enclosed on all four sides, providing ample privacy.
Inside the tent were several plastic stools, where a few people sat with their legs crossed.
Although they looked no different from the merchants in their hurried manner, they wore waterproof and sun-protective camouflage clothing, and their expressions were full of smugness and self-satisfaction. They used fans to drive away mosquitoes, intentionally distinguishing themselves from ordinary people.
These people had several vacuum-sealed storage bags with raised poppy patterns on their surfaces beside them, which were clearly their source of confidence.
The Red Poppy Merchants Association.
The people opposite the Chamber of Commerce were also dressed in relatively clean modern clothes and were currently taking inventory of goods. They were none other than the chief of the Tigerfish Tribe and some other high-ranking leaders.
That wrecked ship was their creation; to be precise, the idea came from the Chamber of Commerce, and the Tigerfish Tribe carried it out.
Firstly, to test Lin An's strength, and secondly, to see if they could take the opportunity to drown the chieftain and the next elder of the Spotted Lion tribe, as well as a group of strong young men.
"Dululu, dululu..."
The alarm clock-like ringtone sounded, and the members of the Red Poppy Merchant Guild picked up the lit communication device, put it to their ears, and spoke a string of Dutch words that the Tigerfish Tribe couldn't understand. Then they handed the walkie-talkie to the Tigerfish Tribe's chief.
"Looking for you."
"Me?" The chief was taken aback, but had no choice but to accept it. "Hello, Chamber of Commerce, it's me."
"Oh, it's so nice to hear your voice." A languid female voice rang out, and the chief's expression changed slightly.
“Countess…is at your service.”
“A friend mentioned to me a strange, uninvited guest, a very interesting and mysterious figure. Have you heard of him?” The countess spoke in a gentle and refined tone. “People call him the ‘Forest Ranger,’ saying he is the guardian of the rainforest and the savior of the Bantu.”
“Well, I’ve heard a little about it.” The chief licked his lips. “Those people are just talking nonsense, madam. They like to embellish the facts with myths. The Forest Ranger is just the ancestral spirit of that new tribe that I mentioned to the merchants last time.”
"Ah, that's not surprising, Bantu people are always so exaggerated."
The countess suddenly realized what was happening and sighed helplessly.
"No wonder it's said that the level of enlightenment of a civilization lies in whether its people can think independently. Do you know when the West will get rid of your kind of ignorance?"
"I don't know, Countess."
“The Greeks began contemplating democracy and philosophy as early as three thousand years ago.” The countess smiled. “Never mind, you wouldn’t understand these things anyway. Let’s talk about the ‘Forester’—which tribe does he come from?”
“Spotted Lion, Countess,” the chief replied neither humbly nor arrogantly.
“Very well, I’ll have my son come over.” The Countess gave an unquestionable order. “He mentioned to me last time that he’s very interested in your sister, Susomi. After it’s done, remember to arrange some time for them.”
The chief's pupils contracted, and he was about to say something when the countess interrupted him, her gentle demeanor laced with a chilling coldness.
"Although you failed to report the information about the mysterious person to me immediately this time, I will not pursue the responsibility of the Tiger Fish Tribe because of the love between the two young people."
The chief's Adam's apple bobbed, and under the scrutinizing gaze of the Chamber of Commerce, he could only lower his voice and say, "It is our honor, madam."
"Of course, treat him well. I look forward to working with you again."
