Chapter 182 The Giant Ship Sinks

Chapter 182 The Giant Ship Sinks
Lin An looked at Bennett in the Philosopher's Stone, never expecting that she would still be conscious after being made into a mental portrait.

Are all mystics able to maintain their individuality?
However, her shouting was annoying, and Lin An didn't like people constantly nagging at close range.

"Be quiet."

"Let me out!" Bennett roared. "How could you torture me like this!"

Lin An immersed his consciousness into the statue in the small world, and the humanoid figure that possessed both male and female characteristics came to life, kicking Bennett in the waist.

Immediately afterwards, the statue descended from the sky with its wand raised high, smashing his head open like cracking a walnut.

"Boom!"

The soul screamed in agony, only to recover not far away.

In less than a second, the wand pierced through Bennett's ribs, lifting her up and plunging her back into the ground, repeating this process until her soul dissipated and reformed.

"You're utterly inhuman!" Bennett's aura weakened. "Just give me a quick death, please!"

Ignoring his pleas, Lin An and the revitalized foundation members reunited, the icy river water already up to their groin.

"There's no time, we have to get out of here!" Barry shouted.

In the flooded cabin, they half-swam and half-walked, taking a full three minutes to reach the captain's cabin at the front.

The water was up to their chests, and the shortest female member of the disciplinary team was having difficulty breathing and walking.

Suddenly, the communication equipment emitted a "buzzing" sound.

"Can you hear me? This is Reagan Modigliani, captain of the Foundation's Second Control Team! We have your location and are preparing to launch a rescue operation!"

The signal has been restored?
Canaanite magic also has the ability to disrupt communication?
"Truly keeping up with the times..." Lin An thought to himself.

Everyone looked on with delight and followed Simon's familiar instructions, filing in through the narrow door on the right side of the captain's cabin and up the stairs to the spacious cockpit.

They were greeted by the flashlights of the rescuers. Lin An heard Caroline grab the drowning female team member and shout to the staff behind her.

"There's someone here who needs immediate medical attention!"

Lin An wanted to be the last one to go up, but he saw Simon remain standing there without saying a word.

The boy was shorter than the female team members, but he used wings instead of legs and feet, and moved nimbly through the water like a fish. His faint light appeared and disappeared in the darkness, like a reflection on the other side of the river.

"Captain, what's wrong?" Lin An called out to him.

"You go first, Lin. Don't worry about me." Simon swam towards the captain's desk, his wings bracing against the waves, creating a space.

"Are you looking for Carlo Bennett's transaction records and tax ledgers?" Lin An saw through his intention at a glance. "Then I'll come too."

“No, Lin, you’re still a child…you don’t have to bear these burdens.”

"Since we're already here, there's strength in numbers."

The captain has set too many death flags for himself along the way, he's like an old general on a stage, you'd be afraid if you didn't follow Lin An.

He used his airflow technique to get to Simon's side, and the latter had no choice but to tell him to be careful.

The ship's cabin rumbled and swayed, making everyone dizzy, as debris was tossed around, reminding them that time was running out.

"Zhang San, where is the evidence of your crime?" Lin An asked the culprit bluntly.

"I thought I couldn't speak."

Without saying a word, Lin An raised her portrait twice more, and Bennett answered tremblingly.

“I confess, I confess… What a young devil! If Raul Olymp knew your true nature, he would kill you without hesitation!”

"Raul?"

"That's your captain."

Skipping past Simon who was searching for information, Lin An glanced at the lit computer screen. It turned out that "Dream of Domondo" on the World Tree Forum was not Bennet, but the girl who controlled mosquitoes.

Driven by a fascination with evil and a desire for power, she abandoned her family to be with Bennett, building a "dream and illusion" in her mind with drug dealers. In the end, she was ruthlessly abandoned by Bennett, leaving only a headless corpse floating in the cold puddles.

Indeed, gambling, drugs, and prostitution should be avoided.

Upon reaching the vicinity of the lockers, Lin An took out Bennett's key and used one of the keys to open the door, only to find a fingerprint lock resembling a nested doll.

Just as Bennett was about to let out a mocking laugh, Lin An turned the Philosopher's Stone expressionlessly, and the locker melted into a pool of soft mercury, making the security mechanism seem like a complete joke.

Damn it, that bastard Comors...

Bennett gritted her teeth. If it weren't for this sudden planetary radiation, how could she have ended up in the hands of a brat, at his mercy!
A thin laptop fell out, and Lin An caught it. This was probably Bennett's usual office tool.

Along with the computer, some papers were scattered around, most of which were completely ruined by the cold water. Lin An only had time to salvage a few folders.

But with so much irrefutable evidence, the government was ready to unleash a bloodbath in Dietrich.

With the mindset of leaving professional matters to professionals, Lin An was organizing his notebooks and folders when a photo caught his eye. It showed a young Bennett and an unfamiliar man.

He was probably in his early thirties, with beautiful, smooth, black curly hair, melancholic eyes, and a thin, angular face. He had a familiar air about him.

“Oh, this is an old photo of Simon,” Bennett chuckled. “You’d love to hear some gossip, wouldn’t you? By the way, what should I call you?”

"Luo Xiang".

“Okay…Monsieur.”

Bennett recounted his arch-rival's life story with great familiarity, his tone carrying a hint of disdain.

"Your captain, Simon Lloyd, was born in 1989 in a remote town in Michigan. He has two older sisters and a younger brother. After graduating from high school, he dropped out due to poverty and joined the Marine Corps, where he served for six years."

"Given his excellent performance, the military arranged for him to work at the police station in his hometown. Simon returned home with this good news and prepared to marry his childhood sweetheart, whom he had been dating for 10 years; he and I should have had no connection at all."

"But he discovered that his long-lost fiancée had 'gone astray'—in any case, she later committed suicide. Foolish woman, she couldn't survive anywhere."

"Lin, where did you find these?"

At this moment, Lin An had already used his airflow technique to get to Simon's side. Simon's eyes lit up when he saw the notebook and folder.

"Are they enough to convict them?" Lin An asked.

"Yes, well done. We can leave now."

The floodwaters completely submerged their heads. Simon came over, grabbed Lin An's hand, and together they swam towards the upper deck of the black ship.

Bennett was still muttering to himself, recounting the greatest failure of his life.

"So Simon went mad. He abandoned his stable life, joined the DEA, and later worked under me for 14 years to gain my trust, only to betray me at a crucial moment!"

Hector, who was on deck, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the two men.

Are there any other people down there?

Simon shook his head, and Hector gestured to the rescue team, indicating that they had rescued all the survivors.

Sailors and crew members were arrested and made to kneel in a line on the shore, while unfamiliar officials directed police cars to bring the chaotic scene under control.

Simon spread his wings and, holding onto Lin An, flew to the shore.

The ground beneath his feet finally stopped swaying with the waves. He turned around and saw the magnificent ship slowly sinking into the setting sun.

The ship disappeared first, then the tall mast and smokestack, and finally the fluttering, snarling black dog flag.

Bubbling sounds rose up, and all sorts of items floated on the surface of the water; countless kilograms of white powder were destroyed in an instant.

A cool, salty breeze brushed against Simon and Lin An's hair, and the cries of seagulls pierced through the noise in the distance.

"Lin, you did a great job." Simon said in a gentle and approving tone, "The cabinet members, led by the Dawn Association, issued the policy. Now, everyone involved is doomed."

In Lin An's mind, Bennett's tone rose, his flamboyant anger mixed with a hint of provocation.

"So what if they put me in jail? I've contributed at least 10 billion dollars in taxes over the years. The officials of Dietrich can't do without this black ship!"

“Those who praise the guilty find it hard to sympathize with the innocent,” Simon continued. “Lin, do not let the darkness of human nature run rampant, nor let evil enter your heart.”

"Monsieur, no matter how close Simon is to you now, as soon as he finds out you're deceiving him—bang! You'll be mortal enemies in an instant!"

Bennett laughed heartily, his French accent captivating.

"Lin, utilitarianism allows most people to live better lives, while ethics and beliefs make us more civilized."

Simon turned around, the setting sun shining on his handsome profile, making him look like an inviolable marble statue in a church.

"Honesty, kindness, compassion, and tolerance—these qualities define us as human beings and sometimes propel us toward greatness."

"The first power in the universe is the power of the self. Why let ants stop you from moving towards freedom?" Bennett scoffed, chuckling softly.

"Yakamashi!"

Lin An manipulated the statue of the Philosopher's Stone to punch Bennett in the face, and her soul withered and stopped nagging.

It's just a tool from the inventory, used here to put on a show with the captain.

"Captain, Lin, you scared me to death!" Mishi came over from the shore. "You suddenly disappeared while we were walking! I thought you had been swept away by the waves."

"Don't worry, we won't sink with this ship."

“Only certain executives are about to be thrown into the sea.” Barry snapped his fingers. “The chairman has been in contact with Washington during this time, and Dietrich is likely to be completely transformed.”

“It should have been replaced a long time ago,” Simon said coldly.

Just as Lin An was about to say something, Joshua's deep voice suddenly rang in his ears.

"Teacher, I'm back. There was a little accident just now, but I've taken care of it."
