Chapter 126: Bravely Forging Ahead

Chapter 126: Bravely Forging Ahead

"Boom!"

A violent impact came from the wall above, followed by the collapse of the tunnel.

"What's going on?" the members of the inspection team exclaimed.

Simon frowned, his weapon looming in and out of sight. Lin An thought for a moment, then closed his eyes.

"System, activate the mind-clearing mode."

He was instantly detached from the material world, and when he looked up, it was as if he were in a continuous meteor shower.

The entire visible area above was filled with dark lines of light, like stars streaking across the sky, representing countless mystical beings dancing in the artificial lake.

The view, like a celestial canopy, became magnificent and fantastical, with countless points of light forming a ring of silvery white at both ends of the Milky Way, and some of these points of light were surrounded by colorful bands of stars.

Immediately afterwards, an irregular beam of light, as big as a house, blasted towards Lin An. He watched helplessly as the glowing behemoth expanded and grew larger before his eyes.

"Clang—crash!"

No sooner said than done, Lin An suddenly opened his eyes.

The road ahead had broken, and the lake water surrounding the Foundation's isolated island was pouring in.

He had just seen so many mysterious figures, each exuding an aura of madness, unease, and recklessness; they were clearly highly corrupted individuals.

i wipe...

He immediately understood the general outline of what had happened.

The headquarters facilities are out of control!

That's right, a riot actually broke out right in front of him at the headquarters of the St. Anilov Foundation!
Nearly a hundred Mysterious Ones escaped from the chaos in Dietrich alone; how terrifying must it be if the headquarters were to be out of control like this!
Fortunately, the headquarters is located on an isolated island, so these monsters have not yet invaded human society.

"They said these kinds of incidents are rare..." Lin An was speechless.

The inspection team members kept dialing communication devices, but all they got in response was X's cold and repetitive "contact person busy," and everyone's face turned pale.

"Wow--"

The pressure in the damaged gap increased sharply, causing it to collapse completely. The surging lake water rushed in, washing over the car and easily lifting the several-ton metal shell in the blink of an eye.

Simon kicked open the closed car door and dragged Lin An out.

Several members of the inspection team also reacted, quickly got out of the car, and with a surge of energy, they aimed at the crack in the wall and rushed upwards, their figures disappearing without a trace.

"Wait, help, help me!"

The remaining inspectors panicked and quickly tried to stop Simon and Lin An, who had not yet left.

"Only the inspection team has the password to open the door! Headquarters should be activating the 'Wailing Wall' by now. If you want to take refuge in the facility, you'll need the black card access!"

The inspection team consists of two departments of the foundation: one is the "Direct Confrontation" department, and the other is the "Research" department. The former consists of mysterious individuals, while the latter consists of ordinary people, each with their own work.

When faced with a crisis, the two departments staged a dramatic scene of each fleeing for their own lives, demonstrating the clichéd evil of human nature.

"The Wailing Wall?" Lin An asked, puzzled.

“Don’t worry about it.” Simon didn’t explain. “The isolation room is located on the lowest level of headquarters. In the event of an out-of-control incident, without keys or black cards, the door to the ‘Kingdom’ will probably be riddled with holes. We’ll enter the facility underwater.”

His words turned the inspection team's fear into despair, and they turned to plead with Lin An with sorrowful eyes, treating him as their last straw.

Lin An wanted to ask what the kingdom was, but the rapidly rising lake water submerged his chest.

Simon flapped his beautiful black wings, surrounded by a faint glow, and plunged into the widened opening caused by the collapse; Lin An used his wand to create a gust of air, leading himself and the rest of the inspection team into the water.

The deep blue sapphire churned and flowed continuously in the water, lifting its body according to Lin An's will, breaking through the collapsed underwater channel, and swimming into the artificial lake outside the Foundation's isolated island.

With his vision restored, Lin An vaguely understood the meaning of the "Wailing Wall".

The sunset, which had just painted the sky a brilliant crimson, had vanished, leaving only a deep darkness over the water, like a vast and treacherous ocean.

The headquarters activated its self-protection switch, and a special high wall rose from the foundation's outer wall, enclosing the facilities, island, and artificial lake in a black oval, isolating them from the world.

The wall is made of a special material that cannot be breached in a short time.

These mysterious individuals are themselves rather crazy and aimless. After fleeing, they don't know where to go, so they destroy and kill indiscriminately according to the nature of the mysterious archetype.

The mysterious figure, unusually lucid, charged straight at the wall, attempting to escape the Foundation. The shockwaves of battle were felt, and the headquarters' direct response team, which also had a defense squad, immediately began a new round of control measures against them, or simply killed them.

Despite the measures taken, the foundation is still somewhat overwhelmed.

All the out-of-control people were now wandering around the narrow space. Within Lin An's field of vision, dozens of strange and mysterious figures had passed by.

Their mysterious prototypes are related to the ocean, following their instincts to dive to the bottom of the water, some as big as whales, some as big as geckos or lizards, some more like sharks, and some more like half-humans.

The light dimmed, and even the monster closest to Lin An could only be seen as a blurry outline. Its body was long and twisted, with a row of spikes on its back, making it look like a piece of wood sunk to the bottom of the water.

Blood splattered from its sharp teeth. Lin An recognized that it was chewing on a member of the inspection team who had just escaped. It was swallowing very quickly, and in the blink of an eye, only half of the corpse remained.

Sensing the unusual movement of the water, the monster noticed Lin An.

"Woooooooo..."

Its tail swept across the seabed, creating a violent tremor. Its unusual appearance and brightly colored scales reminded Lin An of the customs of the islands below Central Continent. On second thought, it also resembled the aquatic monsters described in Maori poetry.

With too little information, and before he could even guess the true form of this person, Simon grabbed his weapon and charged at it.

The longsword stirred the water and pierced the bewildered monster's eye, penetrating its skull through the wound.

Blue, fishy-smelling blood spilled into the lake, creating a cloud of dirty, sticky foam. The monster writhed wildly in pain, temporarily losing its sight and the will to fight back.

Simon waved to Lin An, signaling him to follow, and then swam at full speed in one direction.

He was quite familiar with the foundation's structure, and in less than a minute, a dark shadow appeared in front of Lin An.

This is not a monster, but a facility underground within the Foundation.

The moon angel swam faster and faster, as if flying on the lake, unknowingly leaving Lin An far behind.

Lin An also wanted to speed up, but everything went black before his eyes, and he felt an urgent urge to breathe.

The oxygen is running out.

Looking around and seeing no other mysterious figures lurking nearby, Lin An switched to a healing gem. The airflow spell lost its effect, and the rushing water dispersed the inspection team members.

Having recovered his physical condition, Lin An switched back to the blue gem and retrieved the people one by one.

Overwhelmed by the pressure and extreme lack of oxygen, they lost consciousness and drifted aimlessly with the current.

"Bah."

During the retrieval of the last person, an unexpected incident occurred. Tentacles resembling those of an octopus emerged from the mud and forcefully wrapped around the hind legs of an inspector, who was already pale and unconscious.

Lin An tried to pull him out using his airflow technique, but couldn't. He glanced at the captain who was walking further and further away, and a thought flashed through his mind.

"Brother Tong, you know what I mean, right?"

"Consume 'Judge' x3, 'Mother of Desire' x2, and use Nazheqin's ability [You shall be punished]?" the system asked intuitively.

"Let me see just how 'judge' it is!"

To deal with a legendary mystic, Lin An didn't need to waste time and effort on Hittite rituals.

He had witnessed the effects of the “Sinai Rules”, which could establish a property protection law in accordance with the Mishnah, and was closely related to concepts such as prohibition and protection.

But Guy's two acts of magic that injured Lin An were far from gentle. Whether it was creating wooden spikes out of thin air to pierce his abdomen or hanging him by the neck with a gallows, they were probably derived from "You Should Be Punished".

It is a purely killing method.

A four-dimensional space emerged, with a faint five-pointed star forming the ground. Lines encircled Lin An and the dragged inspector, breaking off only at the octopus tentacles.

A line of Hebrew text appeared.

"You Rodef, stop right now!"

A pursuer is someone who attempts to murder another person. Under Missina law, any bystander is obligated to kill such a person immediately if they are warned but refuse to stop.

The next moment, the energy transformed into dozens of spears, which plunged fiercely into the wriggling water plants.

A large amount of bubbling bubbles and abnormal currents surged from the muddy sand, spreading a crimson color. Slippery internal organs gushed out from within, rising with the bubbles, and the stubborn tentacle also drooped down.

"The entry 'Fear and Faith Drowned in the Ocean V-Lusca' has been included. You have obtained the media 'Lord of the Earth' x3, 'God of Truth' x1, and 'Nature Sacrifice' x1."

"Your questions and practice regarding the effects of mysticism have attracted the medium 'Seeker of Knowledge' x1."

Lusca, a monster born from the fear of the Blue Hole near the Bahamas, has the head of a shark and the limbs of an octopus, and is the most troublesome combination of elements for sailors in the Caribbean.

Some believe the legendary St. Augustine Monster is the rotting lower half of Lusca, while others think the corpse belongs to an even more unknown sea monster.

For example, George Eberhardt made different proposals regarding the St. Augustine Monster in his book, *Mysterious Creatures: A Guide to Cryptozoology*.

"This is a spherical lobster, a huge, smelly marine creature with no obvious skeletal structure. Its ivory-colored, rubbery, sticky, and extremely tough skin is covered with fine hairs or fibers; it has no definite head or visible eyes."

Whether it's Lusca or the spherical lobster, it all stems from humanity's fear of the deep sea and the record of the "Comer's" sea monster that actually existed in the past.

The long-awaited notification sound rang out, and the panel flashed by, indicating it belonged to the E-level of the Ghost Stories.

However, Lin An noticed the keyword "tentacles" under the entry.

This mystery will be interesting to explore later.

Dragging a string of unconscious inspectors upstream, Lin An, led by Simon, followed a hole in the damaged wall into a flooded, mostly submerged isolation room corridor, and took a deep breath from the remaining space.

"Boom!"

Simon used his longsword to cleave open the locked door in front of him, revealing an emergency staircase.

After half-swimming and half-walking down the stairs for a few minutes, the two finally returned to the foundation facility, which had not yet been flooded, and rested briefly on the dry land.

“This is the ‘Kingdom’,” Simon said to Lin An, panting. “It’s the basement at the very bottom of the Foundation.”
