Chapter 95 Little Swarth's Happy Day

Chapter 95 Little Swarth's Happy Day

"That is not something that you or I can know right now."

"I think so too."

Ria changed the subject, focusing her attention on the moth: "So, did the numbers on this moth grow naturally?"

"Of course not, dear black marketeer."

Bruner put the moth down and brought his fingers close to the candle. The candlelight illuminated the reflective scales, giving them a bluish hue.

"It's clearly an artificial creation. We've captured them outside before, but they die very quickly after leaving the mother."

"The life cycle of a moth goes through four stages: egg stage, larval stage, pupa stage, and adult stage. The characters on its wings are clearly not naturally grown, but they were not written on by humans either."

From its larval stage, it is affected by something, developing numerical symbols on its body. These symbols then accompany its pupal emergence, becoming patterns on its wings.

Lia's gaze grew increasingly serious: "Is this insect a laboratory animal?"

"Yes," the doctor gave the correct answer.

But then he was completely baffled: "We never encounter any live moths, so how did you manage to catch it?"

"I encountered it on the road."

"Oh..." The doctor changed his posture, and anyone could see that his attitude had become serious. "That is truly an extraordinary discovery."

"Perhaps you could try looking at it, or trade with it like a black market dealer."

“I tried it, but it didn’t work. Apart from the pattern on its wings, it behaves no differently from an ordinary moth.”

"Then there's nothing I can do. If you want to know more, you might try to investigate the Zolamu district. Some extraordinary things become extremely weak or even lose their extraordinary abilities once they leave their native place. In some cases, they simply disappear."

Ria recalled the extraordinary creatures that had attached themselves to the roof of the Hini.

Having asked all his questions, he stopped talking to the doctor, said a brief goodbye, and left five Schwarz coins: "Your payment."

"Don't scare me, I wouldn't dare accept your bribes."

Bruna hurriedly returned the money as if fleeing a disaster and continued reading his book, while Ria didn't waste any more time on the matter and took the moth back to her room.

He turned on the light and stared at the moth for a long time; the moth remained in a half-dead state.

"Perhaps, as the doctor said, you need to reach your birthplace to show your extraordinary characteristics?"

Ria brought it to the back of its neck, preparing to contaminate it with the eye at the back before it was completely dead.

The golden eye stared silently at the moth, radiating an indescribable golden hue, while tiny golden eyeballs slowly grew on the moth's surface.

Everything went very smoothly.

When Ria placed the moth in her hand again, it had become a specimen-like state, motionless, except that the "15" on its wings had been completely dyed gold, which at first glance seemed unremarkable.

But upon closer inspection, all the golden eyes on its wings are focused on the number "15," and there are ant-sized eyes everywhere.

"That's so weird."

Ria placed the moth specimen on the table, and little Swarth emerged from his neck, examining the moth for a long time before swallowing it whole.

"Goo."

It doesn't taste good; it tastes like insects.

It licked its lips with its long, thin, translucent throat, watching as Ria took off her hat and performed a new magic trick it had learned from a book. "Watch carefully, and don't blink."

Ria helped Little Swarth sit down, then reached into his black top hat. Suddenly, Little Swarth's vision went dark, and when it returned, he saw the spot where he had been standing.

Ria pulled it out of the hat—

"Aww!" Little Swarth thought it was amazing and quickly patted his short paws.

Then, Ria put it back in the hat, and Little Swarth returned to its original place, watching as its host pulled out a fat, plump rabbit from the hat.

The rabbit hopped out of the hat and landed next to the mythical creature, sniffing curiously around Little Swarth.

Little Swarth very kindly opened his mouth and swallowed the rabbit whole into his throat.

By the time Ria realized what was happening, all that remained were a few rabbit hairs expelled by the mythical creature's burps.

Ria: "...You ate our only rabbit."

"Goo!?" Little Swarth tilted his head, seemingly pretending not to understand his host's words.

"never mind."

Ria sighed, "Let's buy another one next time."

"Goo!"

Upon hearing this, Little Swarth happily rolled around on the bed, ran to the pillows and stomped on them, and blood from the rabbit slowly seeped from his mouth.

It washes its face with the blood like a feline, while Ria turns its attention to continuing to create new memes. In any case, Little Swarth will eventually clean the bed itself, as long as it doesn't poke its eyes with its whiskers.

"Simply performing magic tricks isn't enough to gain extraordinary recognition these days. The more difficult the performance, the higher the chance of being recognized... Do I really have to risk everything to perform magic?"

As Lia began to think about the matter of acting, she suddenly felt a metallic taste in her mouth and her body began to feel nauseous, a feeling she hadn't experienced in a long time. She quickly walked to the mirror in the bathroom, opened her mouth, and pulled at the corners of her mouth.

He discovered that his mouth was filled with wriggling black tentacles.

The tentacles extended from his stomach to his mouth, stained with scarlet blood, and the stench filled Ria's nostrils.

These appear to be masterpieces created by mythical creatures wanting their parents to taste rabbit blood.

Feeling rather helpless, Ria went outside, placed the mythical creature on the ground, and crushed its spine with his foot, so that it wouldn't have the strength to bother him.

The mythical creature had enough time to repair its spine and internal organs for Ria to read for quite a while.

"Coo-coo-coo-coo-"

Little Swarth felt that Ria was playing a trick on him, and laughed with delight, making a sound that would sound absolutely ominous to outsiders.

Its mouth stretched out to the back of its head, and it crawled around on the ground like a mollusk using its outstretched tentacles, making a shrill, bubbling sound.

It entertained itself for a long time before finally calming down and crawling into the hat its host had placed on the table, where it lay down to sleep.

Sometimes, the pollution of the mind does not necessarily come from extraordinary initiative; the mere interaction between the mythical creature and him is enough to make Ria feel uneasy for quite some time.

But the mythical creature was unaware of these things. It simply played with people according to its own whims, and each time it emerged from the host's flesh, Ria could clearly feel the pain of its flesh being torn and pulled apart.

But ironically, he's gotten used to it now.

He actually got used to it.
