Chapter 404 Chance Encounter

Chapter 404 Chance Encounter
"What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here again? And standing so high up?"

"Then move aside, I'll get off first."

……

After the smoke covering the dark figure dissipated, Yan scrambled down the stair railing somewhat disheveled.

He bent down, squatted down, reached out to hold the handrail, turned into a sitting position, and only jumped down from the handrail after he was settled. The whole process had a simple, unpretentious, and paralyzed air about him.

It was Enid who stopped him from his dangerous act.

These two people appeared at the same time in a place where neither of them should have been.

Moreover, each of them has a very unique design.

Enid goes without saying, she's dressed in black.

In contrast, Yan's outfit was much more ordinary. He was dressed casually, and because of the heavy rain and flooding on the road, his trousers were rolled up above his knees...

He was still wondering why all the insults, resentment, and curses in the banquet hall hadn't given him any increase in strength.

The oblivious Enid didn't seem to have thought much about why Yan was there, and didn't even connect the "Ripper" being cursed by the people in the noble banquet hall with Yan.

She grabbed Yan and ran outside, muttering to herself:

"Did Milo send you here to investigate? He really trusts you."

"Wait a minute..." Yan Gang wanted to say something, but was quickly interrupted by Enid.

"Wait my ass! Didn't you hear what they were shouting? The Ripper has appeared! You remember this, go home and sleep right now. This is not a place for you, understand?"

“Oh no…”

"It's nothing, it just so happens that the Ripper has tied up the people in the manor, and I know a back door to leave. My God, you have no idea what kind of ghosts and monsters the Duller family worships. Listen to me, no matter what Milo sent you here for, don't come back. It's too dangerous."

"The inner one..."

"Shh! Quiet down! Do you want to be discovered by the private militia of Dulles Estate?!"

And so, Yan was dragged to the back gate of the manor by Enid.

……

The two knew each other, since they were both regular guests at the Valrokan family's house. However, their daily tasks were different. Before Finn's height suddenly increased overnight, Enid was responsible for washing dishes, while Yan was responsible for taking Finn to and from school and occasionally working as a boxing coach.

Aside from that, the two didn't have much interaction, but overall, he could be considered half of Valrocan.

Enid was still reeling from the cold sweat she'd broken out in in the study, a constant reminder of the manor's evil nature. So, her first instinct upon seeing Yan was to get him out of this dangerous place as quickly as possible.

……

The commotion in the banquet hall successfully attracted the attention of all the guards at the Dulles residence.

Enid and Yan successfully sneaked into the garden and opened the back door of the manor.

Going out the back door leads to the road to the outskirts of the city. The area is surrounded by small, meticulously maintained orchards, creating a very tranquil atmosphere.

"You're here for a banquet? Damn, this almost caused a major incident."

Yan, after regaining her senses, was somewhat frightened.

After all, if Enid fell for the same trick as those unlucky guys in the banquet hall, Milo and Emma would tear him to pieces.

"Hurry up and go back, it'll be a disaster if we get caught." Enid didn't think twice and urged Yan to run away quickly.

She solemnly instructed Yan, "Find Milo and tell him that the Dulles family has a big problem! Make sure he applies for a search warrant to investigate this manor! Make sure you tell him this information completely!"

As he spoke, he pulled a stack of photos from his waist and stuffed them into Yan's arms:
"Give these to him too!"

Yan was completely taken aback.

Milo didn't send me here to do any investigation, did he? I just go out and cause some minor mischief as usual...

But he still took the photos Enid handed him and flipped through them with interest.

"Come on, what are you spacing out for? Are you drunk?" Enid was getting impatient with Yan's perpetually slow-to-react reactions.

……

However, at this moment, some strange noises began to come from the orchards on both sides of the road.

It was the sound of weeds being trampled and rubbed, mixed with some low breathing sounds, which didn't sound like humans, but more like some kind of large wild beast.

"Shh..."

Yan was the first to notice.

His expression immediately changed, signaling Enid to quiet down, and he casually shoved the stack of photos he was holding back into Enid's hands.

The rustling sounds in the orchard continued incessantly.

However, the lights inside the Dulle estate had already been extinguished by the strong winds, and the road at the back gate was very dark. The scene in the orchards on both sides was even more blurry, and it was impossible to see what was moving inside.

"Step back a little."

"Step back a little."

They said the words at roughly the same time, and then both glared at each other for no apparent reason.

At this moment, Enid had already reacted. She took out the revolver from her waist, released the locking device, and broke off the hammer. She pointed the muzzle at the road and waited for the sounds from both sides to approach.

……

"Hmm... I suggest we go back to the manor to hide for a while; something's not right here."

Yan was the first to back down.

He frowned and stared at the mottled patch of fruit in the orchard for a long time before finally pulling the bewildered Enid back into the back gate of the manor.

Once back within the manor grounds, Enid asked in a low voice:
"What on earth is outside?" But Yan didn't answer her question. Instead, he turned back the moment he entered the room, slamming the gate shut and locking the chain before Enid could react.

"What the hell..."

Enid never expected Yan to pull such a move.

She tugged hard at the chain locking the iron bars a few times. Although the chain had no locks, it seemed to be welded together, and she could feel a burning pain when she touched it.

"Are you crazy!?"

Enid questioned Yan outside the door, but fearing her voice would attract the guards inside the manor, she dared not shout.

Yan, standing outside the gate, completely ignored Enid. He walked forward silently, his figure quickly disappearing into the dark night. Enid couldn't see what was happening outside the iron gate at all.

……

...

Yan, who had cleverly locked Enid up, did not leave without a word of justice.

He walked calmly down the street and lit a cigarette.

When he exhaled a wisp of grayish-white smoke from between his yellow teeth, black smoke also rose from his body, and his entire demeanor instantly became calm and composed, as if he had become a different person.

Yan, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, slowly rolled up his sleeves while muttering to himself:

"I knew something was off. This is the first time the power of resentment hasn't been successfully converted. Either the people inside are weird, or I am... Could what that church charlatan said be true? Otherwise, how could so many strange... creatures appear here?"

……

At this moment, the things that had been making strange noises in the orchard finally revealed themselves.

This is a group of animals that are neither human nor dog.

They're not really dogs, because they don't have any of the fur that a normal animal should have. Their skin is rotten and peeling off, and many hideous and sharp bone spurs have grown out of the cracked flesh.

However, a very small number of them are upright walkers that rely solely on their hind legs.

In addition, there are familiar fangs and long claws...

As for why I say it's familiar?

"Tsk, I was about to think I'd accidentally wandered back into Glenn town."

Yan shook his head.

Facing the dozen or so pairs of ferocious, green-glowing beast eyes blocking his way, he carefully placed the cigarette on the stone block beside the road.

After confirming that the cigarette was placed securely, the black smoke swirling around Yan's body instantly surged!
……

...

The road in the pitch-black orchard.

The muffled thuds continued incessantly.

Accompanied by the howls and roars of wild beasts.

The terrifying sound was like chunks of meat being thrown into a blender, with bones and flesh being constantly squeezed until they shattered.

……

The whole process took less than two minutes.

Then, the road returned to calm.

Unlike before, this stretch of road, which was only a dozen meters long, was covered with rotting flesh and limbs of wild animals.

The last one was still dragging its already shattered lower body, growling as it crawled toward Yan. Its hindquarters and intestines scraped a long trail of blood on the ground.

Yan calmly walked back to his original spot, picked up the half-burnt cigarette from the stone block, blew the dust off the mouthpiece and also dispersed the black smoke swirling around him, before putting the cigarette back in his mouth.

He glanced back at the half-crippled beast, and it exploded into pieces, becoming part of the scattered remains on the ground.

"Oh well, let's not worry about that for now. Let's get that old lady out of here first."

Yan returned to the back gate of the Dulle Manor.

At this moment, Enid was still struggling with the iron chain, and when she saw Yan return, she was even more confused.

Without wasting words, Yan easily removed the chains locking the gate and said to Enid:

"We have a deal, you can't tell Milo and his sister about what happened tonight. If you really can't, I can treat you to a meal, or you can go to the pleasure house if you want. Just don't say anything bad about me."

After opening the door, Yan waved to Enid, signaling her to follow him.

"The other road is blocked off by guards. I suggest we leave through the orchard next door instead. What do you think?"

Presumably fearing that Enid would discover the pieces of flesh scattered all over the road ahead, Yan took the lead and walked into the orchard.

But to his surprise, Enid did not follow.

And the instant Yan Yi's foot sank into the soft soil of the orchard, he felt an unprecedented fear!
The hairs on my entire body stood on end instantly!
He didn't even have time to turn around and look in the direction from which that terrifying aura came before he was blasted away like an arrow released from a bow!

Bang! ! !
Enveloped in endless thick smoke, Yan's body carved a trench in the orchard.

He knocked down more than a dozen fruit trees, causing a large area to collapse.

……

When he finally came to his senses from the terrible pain and dizziness, he realized that Enid, who was standing by the gate leaning against the fence, was smiling and watching him...

She squinted, and said with a half-smile:

"So you're the one I've been looking for."
