Ke-style law enforcement officers
Chapter 257 Marshall
Chapter 257 Marshall
……
This is the fifth early morning that Mylo has been on duty at St. George's Hospital.
It's late at night now.
Apart from the ward where Rebecca was, all the other patients in the intensive care unit had been transferred.
For some reason, Milo also dismissed the law enforcement officers at the surrounding entrances.
……
He sat in the dark stairwell.
Staring at each other, big eyes with the little black cat.
Sneaky footsteps could be heard coming from a corner at the other end of the corridor.
Milo, however, kept his eyes fixed on the cat.
Are you going to make a move or not?
He shrugged at the little black cat.
On the wall, Erik and the others, the Shadow of Exile, kept shaking their heads. They couldn't understand why Milo would make things difficult for a cute cat.
The cat, under pressure, shrank its neck and gave Milo an innocent look.
……
"Sigh... alright, I was going to give you a chance to show off."
Milo squatted for a long time but the little black cat didn't make any move, so he had no choice but to stand up and draw the revolver from his waist.
However, Eric immediately gestured to him – “This is a hospital.”
Milo pursed his lips, tucked the revolver back into his waistband, replaced it with a crowbar, and walked alone into the shadows at the end of the corridor.
A series of muffled thuds lasted for about 3 minutes.
Milo emerged from the shadows, wiping his hands.
He straightened his sleeves and tie in front of the glass window, then retrieved two sheets from the next ward and tossed them to Eric and the others.
“I never thought a law enforcement officer would have to cover up a body.” Eric gestured rapidly.
Meanwhile, Bones and the others grabbed the bedsheets and went to the end of the corridor, wrapped up the undead bodies that Milo had destroyed, and dragged them toward the roof of the hospital building.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be a good day.
Milo stuck his head out the window and glanced at the sky, which was completely devoid of stars.
If it's still cloudy tomorrow, there won't be any sunlight to help him dispose of the zombie remains, so he'll have to find another way, which is quite troublesome.
Milo lit the kerosene lamp, took off his black trench coat, folded it a few times, and placed it on the long bench in the hallway.
The little black cat hopped and nestled inside, scratched the trench coat a few times with its paws, and then lay down comfortably.
Milo shook his head.
He had smelled the zombies a long time ago.
I originally wanted to see for myself what special abilities this cat of unknown origin had.
As it turned out, this guy acted more innocent than anyone else, and even seemed a bit timid, so Milo had to deal with the zombies that came to his doorstep himself.
……
Gently pushing open the ward door, Milo saw Kay fast asleep and Rebecca still in a coma.
He closed the door and returned to the hallway, loosened his collar, and yawned.
I turned my head and saw that the little black cat was also yawning.
Milo grabbed the little black cat by the scruff of its neck, lifted it off its trench coat and tossed it aside, then used the coat as a pillow to lie down.
The abandoned little black cat grumbled and jumped out the window into Rebecca's hospital room.
The seven-man team had finished dealing with the battlefield at the end of the corridor and returned. Milo glanced at them, then lazily muttered:
Good night, gentlemen.
It was another peaceful and serene night.
...
...The next day, Milo woke up, or rather, Kai woke him up.
Because a certain female law enforcement officer who had been lying down for five days straight finally got enough sleep.
"Rebecca's awake! Come quick!"
Kai gently tugged at Milo's tie and dragged the dazed Milo into the ward.
When Milo entered the ward rubbing his eyes, he found that Rebecca was already sitting up in bed, holding the little black cat in her arms.
The black cat buried its entire head in Rebecca's chest, enjoying the caresses of Rebecca's fingers, looking completely comfortable.
“If you don’t wake up soon, I’m even planning to transfer my household registration to the intensive care unit.”
Milo stretched, his bones cracking and popping.
Rebecca looked up, glanced at Milona's disheveled hair and poor mental state, and said earnestly, "Thank you."
“That’s an understatement,” Milo chuckled.
He was a little unaccustomed to Rebecca's sudden politeness.
Kai was very excited: "I'll go get something to eat for my sister!"
After saying that, she skipped and hopped away.
"I need some carbs," Milo called out to Kai's retreating figure, then pulled up a chair and sat down by the bedside.
"Grandma, you're finally awake! The entire Nanwei City law enforcement team has been keeping an eye on you these past few days." Milo grabbed the kettle on the bedside table and gulped down a couple of mouthfuls of hot water.
"What happened in the end?" Rebecca asked Milo while petting the cat.
"It was a bit troublesome, but it's basically sorted out." Milo nodded.
He noticed that Rebecca, who had just woken up, was still somewhat disoriented.
She looked very tired, as if she had just had a very long dream.
The weakened version of Rebecca has a unique charm. After all, she is usually serious and has a tense face. She has never shown such a weak expression before. Her pale lips and the scarlet of her short hair create an extreme contrast.
"Don't worry, the doctor said your injuries will heal completely with proper care and won't leave any aftereffects. You'll be back at the law enforcement office soon to curse people out. Thanks to that damn Golden Tree, none of your more than seventy wounds are on your face."
Of course, as soon as Milo said that last sentence, he knew that his sharp tongue had once again brought up the most sensitive topic.
Moreover, in such cases, subsequent remedial measures usually only make things worse:
"Uh... believe me, I personally really like that scar on your face..."
Rebecca closed her eyes helplessly and nodded: "Stop."
"Okay." Milo stopped talking, picked up the kettle, and gulped down a few more mouthfuls.
……
"Oh, by the way, let me introduce a new friend."
Milo suddenly remembered the little black cat: "This little guy appeared on his own a few days ago when you were unconscious..."
“I should be the one to introduce you,” Rebecca interrupted Milo.
"Hmm?" Milo's brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"
“Its name is Marshall.” Rebecca grabbed one of the little black cat’s front paws and gestured towards Milo.
"Marshall? That name sounds familiar."
Milo scratched his head.
Suddenly I remembered that Rebecca had mentioned this name during a casual conversation a long time ago.
"The owner of that broken little bell on your desk? Wait, didn't you say that cat is dead?"
"I also thought it was dead."
Rebecca held the little black cat up in her hands, a rare smile appearing on her face.
Milo looked at the languid-looking little black cat with a strange expression, then glanced at Rebecca, who was usually stern and unsmiling:
"If anyone else in the law enforcement office had seen your expression just now, all the authority you've built up would have been destroyed, you know that?"
Rebecca looked at Milo:
"So you have to keep this a secret, understand?"
