Chapter 248 Opportunity
Chapter 248 Opportunity
……
On the deserted, dark street, Milo opened Finn's schoolbag, took out the metal lunchbox that belonged to Walker Brier, and placed it in front of the Scarlet Witch.
Then he rummaged through his schoolbag for a long time:
"Wait a moment, don't be impatient."
As he spoke, he pulled a pencil out of his schoolbag.
"You picked up the wrong one, this isn't it."
Put the pencil back in and keep looking.
Then, he pulled out a lollipop that had been bitten in half.
"Damn, that's so unhygienic."
Milo tossed the sticky lollipop aside and continued searching.
It took him a long time to pull out a spoon.
He stuck the spoon into the indescribable sticky substance inside the metal lunchbox and said to the Scarlet Witch:
"Use it gently, madam."
……
The Scarlet Witch slowly took two steps forward, leaned her head over the lunchbox, took a deep breath, and sighed in a hoarse voice:
"The taste of the Great Old Ones, not bad, really not bad."
As she spoke, she reached out her thin, bony hand from under her red cloak, grabbed a spoon, and began to gulp down the rotten-smelling "jelly."
“I thought you would let Glagi leave Nanwei City unscathed.” She chewed the “Holy Communion” with a slurred, indistinct sound.
"That was indeed the plan."
Milo found a dry spot by the roadside, sat down, stretched comfortably, and then said:
"But you also said that I'm being targeted by the hounds, and I need to find a way to survive, right?"
“A wise move.” The Scarlet Witch grabbed the lunchbox and shoveled the food into her mouth with a spoon, not even bothering to chew, swallowing it whole with gurgling sounds coming from her throat. She looked like a wild dog that hadn’t eaten for two weeks.
“Take it easy. Do you know how much effort I put into cleaning up these scraps from the bottom of the river? Just show some respect for my hard work and savor them, okay?” Milo squinted at the old, hungry man in front of him.
Emma's bomb exploded in Graki's abdomen, shattering a large part of his body. Graki vomited up his broken internal organs, and Milo had to mobilize a team of seven, a total of eight people, to grope around in the dark at the bottom of the river for half a day to collect them.
"Delicious, delicious, hehehehe~"
The Scarlet Witch made a strange noise.
From Milo's perspective as a normal human being, it's impossible to tell whether she's laughing or crying.
In less than three minutes, the large lunchbox, which was full enough to feed Walker's family, was licked clean by the Scarlet Witch.
She wiped the dirty sleeves of her robe under the shadow of her hood and commented, "The Dominator's scent is as sweet as ever, but unfortunately there's a sour, stinky smell of the Familia."
Milo raised an eyebrow and explained:
"Ah, it's probably because it just swallowed a human familiar and hasn't digested it yet."
After all, Gladgill had just eaten Sansa, and after the bomb exploded, the bits of flesh left behind by Gladgill inevitably contained some of Sansa's remains.
Milo shrugged:
"This was a mistake. Next time, I'll try to bring you some fresh, green, healthy, and pollution-free ingredients."
Milo didn't know how he came up with such nonsense.
"...Are you going to take this back with you?"
The Scarlet Witch licked the spoon clean and handed it back to Milo.
Milo looked at the spoon with a complicated expression, shook his head and said, "No, it's yours."
The other person actually put the spoon back under their cloak.
“Well, as a psychic who keeps his promises, this is the second time I’ve brought you communion. Shouldn’t you tell me some good news, like how you helped me find a way to fight the hounds during the days you were missing?” Milo asked, shrugging.
However, the Scarlet Witch shook her head:
"Of course I looked, but unfortunately the few remaining ways to fight against hounds in this era are not applicable in this world, your world."
“That’s really good news.” Milo looked at the Scarlet Witch expressionlessly.
"The simplest way is still to avoid being in certain angles or environments," the Scarlet Witch added casually.
“You already mentioned this last time, an angle of less than 90 degrees, I know, I was even ready to order a round bed.” Milo sighed helplessly.
He pulled his damp trench coat tighter around himself.
As night fell, the damp heat he had felt earlier began to turn into coolness. Each time the cold air passed over his body, it took away some of the heat, and he began to feel his limbs getting cold.
"Don't worry, as long as you don't go too far, the hounds won't come looking for you so quickly. Besides, Graki just came to Nanwei City, and the stench it left behind will linger here for a long time, which will slow down the hounds to some extent. They don't like Graki's smell," the Scarlet Witch said calmly.
“But once the stench dissipates, they’ll still come knocking, and then I’ll die, right?” Milo shrugged.
“That’s true.” The Scarlet Witch nodded, paused for a moment, and then added:
"But you've glimpsed a corner of Glaqi's world, haven't you?"
Milo squinted:
"It seems like nothing can escape your notice."
"Although it was it that actively chose to contact your soul, as a visionary who peered into the ancient memories of an Old One, your name is worthy of being recorded in history." The Scarlet Witch made that creaking sound that was both laughter and crying.
"Let me guess, it's not the history of this world that's being recorded, is it?" Milo muttered.
"Yes."
"What good is that? No, even being recorded in history won't help..." he wailed.
"Don't worry, things might still turn around. Tell me what you saw." The Scarlet Witch took two steps forward.
She seemed eager to know what Milo had gleaned from Grazie's memories.
Milo squinted:
"What do you mean?"
"It means I'll save you," the Scarlet Witch explained.
“I’ve said before that it’s almost impossible to fight the hounds in this barren world, but there are always opportunities. What you see is that opportunity.”
Milo couldn't figure out what the Scarlet Witch meant by the opportunity she mentioned.
But he didn't think much of it, only vaguely summarizing what he had glimpsed:
"I saw a war, but there were many things in it that I couldn't see clearly... to be precise, I couldn't understand it."
"That's right!"
The Scarlet Witch grabbed Milo's hand:
"Your perspective isn't broad enough, so it's understandable that you don't understand. But I need you to think carefully and diligently, to find a clue that might save your life!"
