Ke-style law enforcement officers
Chapter 246 Intimidation
Chapter 246 Intimidation
In the hallway, Milo grabbed Rick, who was swaying back and forth.
He turned Rick's head towards him and carefully examined the guy's eyes.
It turns out this guy was indeed not in good shape.
There was a faint hint of dark green in his eyes, hidden very well, but Milo still noticed it.
However, although this guy reeked of a zombie, he had not lost his self-awareness.
Rick himself remains the master of his body.
When Rick saw Milo, he had an excited look on his face:
"Milo, right? Milo from the Criminal Investigation Department upstairs, I've been looking everywhere for you. Listen, what I want to say is, thank you for saving my life!"
“Coincidentally, I also need to talk to you about something.” Milo nodded.
"What's wrong?" Rick asked, surprised.
"I need to figure out what kind of thing I rescued."
As Milo spoke, he dragged Rick out of the ward.
……
He found an empty bathroom room on the floor below.
Milo threw Rick in.
The moment she closed the door, she ripped open Rick's trench coat.
On Rick's exposed neck, Milo saw those grotesque, dark green veins.
He gripped Rick's neck with one hand, his other hand resting on the crowbar at his waist, staring coldly at the man before him, and asked, word by word:
"You have one minute to prove that you are Rick."
Rick was terrified by Milo's behavior.
His major was clinical medicine, and he was a specially recruited talent who had not undergone law enforcement examinations.
Although he had received induction training for law enforcement officers, that was six years ago. After the training ended, he never touched a firearm again, let alone any fighting or killing skills. He was the only oddball in the law enforcement unit who couldn't even do 10 push-ups.
With Milo pinning her against the wall with one hand, she had absolutely no chance to resist.
"Calm down! Calm down! I understand what you mean!"
He crossed his arms over his chest, looking like an innocent girl being molested, just short of letting out a piercing scream.
Milo, however, started the countdown without giving him any face: "You have 50 seconds left."
As he spoke, he revealed the rusty crowbar in his left hand.
Rick had never seen anything like this before.
Although he spent many years surrounded by corpses, it didn't mean he wasn't afraid of becoming a member of the morgue.
When he saw the crowbar, his legs went weak instantly.
He started to speak incoherently:
“I understand! I understand completely! Listen to me… My full name is Rick Martino, my identification number is ****, and your full name is Milova Rocan. You joined the force at the beginning of this year, right? I handled the body of the victim in the Robben case, uh… his daughter, the one you found in the sewer system, right? And, and also…”
“Well, if you really understand what I mean, then you know that saying this doesn’t mean you are Rick himself.” Milo shook his head: “30 seconds.”
"I understand, I understand, please believe me! I know what you're worried about. You think I've been assimilated, and that my memories will be assimilated and absorbed as well. But please believe me, just look at what's in the inside left pocket of my trench coat and you'll understand!"
Rick's pitiful gaze kept shifting between Milo's face and the crowbar, he was incredibly nervous.
As a law enforcement officer, he knew very well that Milo had the ability and the right to smash his head here, if Milo thought he was in the wrong. Milo narrowed his eyes.
He lifted Rick's trench coat with some skepticism and took a wet metal box from his inner pocket.
Upon opening the tin box, the first thing Milo smelled was a pungent, putrid odor.
Inside the metal box lay half a rotting finger. Half of the finger's muscle tissue had turned into a green, viscous liquid, and the finger bone was exposed to the air, making it look particularly gruesome.
Rick slowly raised his left hand, showing Milo his missing index finger.
“During the investigation, I accidentally pierced my skin with that long needle. After realizing something was wrong, I cut off my finger. Although some residual toxins have entered my physiological system, please believe me, I am still the Rick you know.”
He was extremely careful, even deliberately making the movement of raising his hand very slow, for fear that Milo would think he had other ulterior motives.
Milo stared at the half-finger in the metal box, then looked up at Rick.
After a long while, he released his grip on Rick's neck, slowly took a step back, and said calmly:
"Actually, your colleagues in the law enforcement office are not very familiar with you."
“This…” Rick’s lips twitched twice: “That’s hurtful. Is it because I’ve been working surrounded by corpses all the time, and I’m not sociable enough?”
“No, it’s mainly the songs you usually listen to,” Milo replied earnestly.
“Oh, that makes sense.” Rick shrugged, a look of understanding on his face. “Not everyone can accept this new kind of opera.”
……
“I read the report you didn’t finish writing.”
Milo shook the iron box in his hand and asked, "You were infected by the residual toxins in the long needles, but you weren't transformed. Is it because there weren't enough toxins?"
“I think that’s the reason.” Rick nodded. “After I noticed that the tissue on my finger was starting to ulcerate, I immediately cut it off. Unfortunately, I hesitated for a few seconds because I was afraid of the pain, which caused the toxins to spread in my body.”
"A few seconds?" Milo raised an eyebrow.
“Okay, I listened to two songs to calm myself down before I stabbed him.” Rick shrank back.
"But overall you're still pretty manly," Milo said casually.
"So, can I go to the bar with you guys upstairs after work? It's a manly time for fun, right? Talking about thrilling crime-solving experiences at the bar makes us even more manly," Rick asked.
"We can discuss this later," Milo said bluntly, throwing cold water on the other person's enthusiasm and steer the conversation back on track.
Are you sure your condition won't continue to worsen?
“Hmm…” Rick shook his head: “I’m not sure either. Last night I discovered that the light from the fire at close range was causing this finger to start to rot, and for a long time I heard some strange noises. I’m pretty sure it was a hallucination, but I couldn’t control myself at the time. It was like something was driving my body to find the source of the sound. I ran towards the dock like a madman, and then…you know what happened next…Anyway, after the rain stopped today, I spent the whole afternoon sunbathing on the roof. Apart from feeling hot, my body didn’t show any signs of rotting, so I think…I should be fine, right?”
"Can you still hear those strange sounds?" Milo asked solemnly.
“I can’t hear you now.” Rick shook his head.
"When did you start losing your hearing?"
Around 7 p.m.
……
Milo vaguely recalled the time when Gracki swallowed the bomb and muttered:
"Hmm... I think you should be fine now."
