My Healing Games

Chapter 6: Social Anxiety is Gone, But the Person Has Gone Crazy

Chapter 6: Social Anxiety is Gone, But the Person Has Gone Crazy
After losing his job, Han Fei played many games. He did this mainly to release his inner pressure and hoped to adjust his state as soon as possible and regain his motivation in life.

Now that he has achieved his goal, after playing the game "Perfect Life," he deeply understands the beauty of life. He realizes that the injustices he has encountered are so insignificant in the face of vengeful ghosts and perverts.

In one respect, he was indeed cured.

However, this method of healing is rather brutal, like cutting off an entire arm when a splinter gets stuck in your finger.

He collapsed helplessly to the ground, pain and exhaustion tormenting every nerve. Han Fei didn't know whether he finally fell asleep or passed out.

……

Bang!Bang!Bang!
At seven o'clock in the morning, Han Fei was awakened by a knock on the door. He got up from the floor, still a little groggy.

It wasn't until he saw the gaming helmet on the table, and the bloodstains inside, that he realized last night's game wasn't a dream.

"The beginner missions are already this difficult, there are definitely more terrifying missions to come. Isn't this just sending me to my death? I'm just a comedian, I can't even fight, how am I supposed to fight against that whole building of vicious 'neighbors'?"

Bang!Bang!Bang!
The knocking continued. If this had happened before playing a game, Han Fei, who suffers from severe social anxiety, would most likely have pretended that no one was in the house and silently waited for the other person to leave.

But after playing that game, he didn't think much of it and just walked over and opened the door.

"Hello, we are police officers from Xingfu Road Police Station in the old city. My name is Zhao Ming, and this is my colleague Zhang Xiaotian."

"police?"

Han Fei's eyes lit up when he saw the two uniformed police officers at the door. The thing in his mind called the "black box" had threatened him with brain death, preventing him from calling the police, but now the police had come to his door on their own.

"Please come in!" Han Fei had never been so eager to communicate with anyone before. He invited the two police officers into the house and then ran to the refrigerator to find drinks.

"We've come here to ask you something. There was a fire in our jurisdiction, and the surveillance cameras captured you at the scene." The two police officers found Han Fei's enthusiastic manner somewhat strange. Zhao Ming even took out his phone to check, and he discovered that Han Fei's behavior did not match the police investigation report.

"Actually, I also have something I want to tell you." Han Fei sat down opposite the police with a drink in his hand.

"Oh?" The two policemen exchanged a glance, their expressions gradually turning serious. They stared intently at Han Fei in front of them: "What do you want to tell us?"

"I... last night..."

"Warning! Player No. 0000, please note! Do not disclose the existence of the original version of 'Perfect Life' to anyone! After three warnings, the black box will explode in your brain!"

It felt as if someone had grabbed his brain nerves, and the tremor from the depths of his brain made Han Fei open his mouth, but he couldn't continue speaking.

The two policemen stared at Han Fei's half-open mouth, and the three of them remained motionless for a few seconds.

"What happened to you last night?" The two policemen waited idly, unaware of the pressure Han Fei was under. Large beads of sweat streamed down Han Fei's face as the terrifying feeling of destroying every nerve in his brain lingered deep within him.

Veins bulged on his forehead, Han Fei gritted his teeth, and slammed his fist on the sofa, but ultimately did not reveal the existence of the game.

The two police officers were startled by Han Fei's actions: "Calm down, let's talk this out. Resisting with force is the most foolish thing to do."

After racking his brains, Han Fei deliberately avoided the game and tried to explain his troubles from another angle.

To prevent the black box in his mind from exploding, he said he was very careful with every word: "Last night at midnight, pay attention to this time, an old lady invited me to eat dumplings, and her grandson smashed the fish soup, saying that the ingredients were taken from a coffin, but the ingredients were taken from the refrigerator. I feel like there is a corpse hidden in their refrigerator."

"To have such thoughts, shouldn't you reflect on yourself more?" Seeing Han Fei's serious expression, the two police officers, Zhao Ming and Zhang Xiaotian, discreetly activated their body cameras. Zhao Ming subtly placed one hand behind his back. "And then?"

"I went home and started to sleep. The bathroom door started moving by itself, and something came out of it. Do you believe in ghosts?"

"What?"

"A ghost! It's someone who was squatting on the ground and suddenly disappeared, their face deathly pale, their body like they had no bones! The moment you open your eyes, they're hiding next to the bedside lamp!" Han Fei's emotions grew more and more agitated. He was afraid that the police would leave and he would miss the opportunity to ask for help, so he gestured wildly, fully demonstrating his solid acting skills.

"I even took out my body camera, and you're telling me there's something fishy going on?" Zhao Ming took a deep breath, trying to keep his tone calm: "If that's all you want to say to us, then forget it. We're going to ask you a few questions, so please answer them truthfully."

"I swear to God, I'm telling the truth!" Han Fei wasn't acting at all. He blinked frantically, like a hostage being held hostage, except instead of kidnappers, he was being held hostage by a game.

"First question, why were you in the antique street in the old town at 1:30 pm yesterday?" Zhao Ming didn't beat around the bush with Han Fei and asked directly.

"I'm going to buy used games. Oh, right! We can go find the store manager! Officer! You guys come with me to find that store manager..."

"What store manager? Many of the buildings on that old street are dilapidated, and all the shops closed down three months ago."

"That's impossible! I've been buying games from that secondhand store for three days in a row! Let's go there now! I'll take you to that store!" Han Fei stood up abruptly.

"Are you really unaware or are you pretending to be confused? There was a fire on Antique Street yesterday afternoon, and all the secondhand shops were destroyed. Fortunately, the shops had already closed, so no one was injured." Zhao Ming and Zhang Xiaotian both found Han Fei somewhat suspicious.

"All the secondhand shops were burned down?" Han Fei stared blankly at the two police officers. After a moment, his eyes hardened again: "Impossible! There's a loophole! I clearly remember the shop manager's appearance! As long as you find this person, you can prove that I'm not lying!"

Han Fei was a professional actor with an excellent memory. He took out a pen and paper and wrote down the old shopkeeper's physical characteristics: "Use this as a guide! You'll definitely find him!"

“I can tell you with absolute certainty that there is no way any shops will be open for business there…” Zhao Ming was about to say something when his phone suddenly vibrated. He told Zhang Xiaotian to keep an eye on Han Fei and then walked out of the room.

"Hello? Captain Wang?"

"Have you been to the home of the suspect in the antique street arson case? Have you found anything?" A middle-aged man's voice came from the other end of the phone.

"We've arrived. After talking to him and asking questions, we found that the person was indeed acting a bit strange." Zhao Ming glanced into the room, then lowered his voice.

"Tell me more specifically."

"According to the personality model built from big data on citizens' information, he is a very introverted and hardworking comedian. We also found his psychological counseling records, which show that he suffers from very severe social phobia."

"A comedian with social anxiety?"

“That’s how citizen information and data analysis are recorded, but after we actually contacted him, we found that the suspect was agitated and behaving extremely strangely. I suspect that his social anxiety has been cured, but…”

"Just what?"

"It's just that the person seems to have gone mad."
