Chapter 49 The Cannibalistic Room

Neither side made a move, and as time went by, Han Fei's fear gradually diminished.

In a few more minutes he will be able to complete the hidden mission. If he can survive this last period of time, the situation will change dramatically.

The chill emanating from the landlord's ring was almost freezing Han Fei's fingers off, but being blocked by two ghosts, he actually became calmer.

Carefully maintaining the status quo, Han Fei neither went further into the house nor tried to escape. He stood there at the entrance to his ghost neighbor's living room, a polite smile gradually appearing on his face.

Room 1051 was pitch black. Those bloodthirsty eyes seemed to appear out of thin air. Han Fei couldn't see the other person's face, but he knew that the aura emanating from the other person was extremely terrifying. It wasn't just pure coldness, but contained a special kind of malice, with a desire to devour.

"Is my neighbor in apartment 1051 trying to eat me?"

The commotion Han Fei had just caused was quite loud, and strange noises began to come from upstairs. The ghosts behind and in front of Han Fei became anxious, seemingly worried that more fierce ghosts and monsters might come later.

Heavy breathing came from behind Han Fei, and the viscous liquid dripped onto his back once again.

Five skin-and-bones fingers reached into room 1051. The ghost behind Han Fei seemed to be trying to pull Han Fei out, but as soon as it put its hand into the room, the "darkness" in the entire room seemed to turn into thick juice and began to flow towards the door.

The hand didn't land on Han Fei's shoulder; it was held firmly by the tangible darkness inside the room.

"The resident of room 1051 seems to blend into the darkness." Han Fei recalled the dark figure standing in the corridor. He had no face and was not dressed; he was just a pitch-black figure. "The residents in this building really come in all shapes and sizes."

A low growl sounded, and Han Fei didn't dare to turn around. He only knew that the ghost following him had a conflict with the resident of room 1051.

"Let's fight, let's fight. It would be best if both sides were severely injured. Every one that dies is one less to lose."

Han Fei's mental fortitude was now incredibly strong. Despite the chilling sounds that kept echoing in his ears and his back being soaked in cold sweat, he didn't turn around.

"Five minutes left."

As Han Fei watched the countdown on the task panel, his heart pounded faster and faster, but his expression remained perfectly calm.

With only three minutes left before the mission, the owner of room 1051 seemed to be completely enraged. The entire room seemed to come alive, and thick darkness suddenly poured out of the door like a giant mouth, swallowing the ghost behind Han Fei!
"Oh!"

Hearing the door close behind him, Han Fei's heart skipped a beat; an unexpected situation had occurred.

All the light disappeared, and Han Fei seemed to have been deprived of his sight, surrounded only by deep darkness.

"The ghost behind me was also pulled into room 1051?!"

Han Fei felt extremely insecure and wanted to move his body to lean against the wall.

His shoulder soon bumped into something, but it didn't feel like a solid wall at all; it felt more like a person's stomach.

"Someone is standing next to me? His lower abdomen is at shoulder level? Is he hanging in the house?"

The only thing that gives Han Fei peace of mind right now is that the ghost behind him is still struggling, and he can hear its constant screams and roars.

In this completely dark environment, being able to hear the screams and wails of ghosts was already a comfort to Han Fei; at least he knew that there was another outsider in the house.

The room was filled with a chilling aura, and darkness crashed against the walls like waves. Han Fei was sweating for the ghost behind him: "You have to hold on for another three minutes!"

With his eyes glued to the quest panel, Han Fei watched the countdown for the hidden quest: "The countdown is still going on, which means the ghost following me hasn't been eaten yet. That should be considered the only good news..."

The moment Han Fei had this thought in his mind, he heard a piercing scream. The eerie wind in the room dissipated considerably, and the ghost following behind him seemed to have suffered a severe injury.

"No! I was just encouraging you, cheer up!" Han Fei panicked too. The horror of this room was beyond his imagination. He couldn't see anything, it was pitch black, and there was a pungent stench everywhere. It felt like an abandoned morgue.

The sounds of fighting and screams behind me were fading away; only a dozen seconds had passed.

"Are you still there? Hold on a little longer!" Han Fei was really panicking. The ghost in room 1051 seemed to have a limited range of movement. It was very weak outside the room, but very strong inside.

The sounds of fighting gradually turned into the sound of banging on the door, and then into the sound of fingernails scratching at the door. The ghost following Han Fei seemed to have given up on Han Fei and was determined to leave.

Han Fei hasn't turned around yet; he has no idea what's happening behind him and can only judge by the sounds.

The situation seemed to be getting worse. If he let the ghost following him leave, he would be left to face this eerie house alone.

Taking advantage of the room owner's inattention, Han Fei backed away.

The dense darkness almost materialized, and the ghosts following Han Fei emitted a chilling aura. The focus of the battle was no longer Han Fei.

Compared to Han Fei, the owner of room 1051 wanted the ghost behind him more, and the ghost also realized the danger and desperately tried to escape.

The ghost following Han Fei had no intention of entering room 1051 in the first place, but it was tricked by the ghost in room 1051. By the time the door closed, it was too late.

A chilling aura washed over Han Fei's back, and he unconsciously retreated to the doorway of the room. Just then, the ghost that had been following him unleashed its full power.

At the height of their fight, Han Fei retreated to the doorway, his arm gripping the doorknob.

"Chance!"

Han Fei tried to open the door, but just as he was about to move out, an invisible darkness enveloped him and held him back.

"Can't we leave?"

At this moment, the ghost behind him and the owner of room 1051 were about to determine a winner. The ghost following Han Fei was determined to escape, and the neighbor of room 1051 was gradually losing control of the other party.

The gap in the door was slowly widening, and the room was getting brighter. The ghost behind Han Fei no longer cared about Han Fei. Just as he was about to run out, Han Fei suddenly tightened his grip on the door lock, as if he wanted to close the door.

Seeing Han Fei close the door, the ghost behind him let out a piercing scream, as if it was about to be driven mad.

"Take me with you!" Darkness enveloped Han Fei's body, and he couldn't break free with his own strength. He could only shout, "Didn't you want to use me as a scapegoat? Didn't we agree to be each other's angels?"
