Chapter 284 The Young Security Guard

Chapter 284 The Young Security Guard
Han Fei rarely cares about what others say. Even if the vengeful ghosts in the deep world think he is weak, has low emotional intelligence, is autistic, or socially anxious, he will not get angry because that is who he is.

Compared to the ghosts and monsters in the Deep World, acting skills are his last shred of self-respect.

To his surprise, his acting skills, which had never faltered, were seen through, which made Han Fei somewhat uncomfortable, since he was a professional actor in real life.

The deformed figure crawled rapidly through the passage, pursued frantically by Han Fei and several resentful spirits behind him, both sides tearing off their disguises.

Each time the lights went out, the deformed figure noticed that the distance between Han Fei and himself had been shortened.

A flicker of unease crossed the bloodied face, blood trickling down the split skull. The mutilated, deformed figure didn't even dare to turn around, fearing the other might suddenly appear behind it or perch on its shoulder.

Recalling the ever-growing shadows behind that man, fear and shock appeared on its blood-stained face.

The man was possessed by more than one ghost, and it was too late for me to get there; there was no place for me to stand on the body!

Only in this way can we explain why all of the other party's behaviors cannot be measured by the standards of a normal person.

Silently searching for a reason to escape, the deformed monster crashed into the darkness after running around the corner of the stairwell.

The stench of blood in the air was gradually replaced by the smell of mildew. Han Fei looked at the dark passage ahead and stopped.

"You ran pretty fast." The fear on Han Fei's face had long since disappeared, and he controlled his expression as easily as an ordinary person eating or drinking.

"Should we still chase after them?" In the corridor where there was no one else but Han Fei, another man's voice suddenly rang out.

Upon hearing that voice, Han Fei was not afraid at all; instead, he calmly replied.

"Of course, my favorite game is hide-and-seek."

Han Fei didn't know what the fourth underground floor was used for, nor what had happened there. Right now, he just wanted to find more "people," get to know them better, trigger hidden missions if they were available, and see if he could create missions for himself if there weren't any.

"Be careful, this place gives me a bad feeling." The man's voice quickly disappeared, turning back into a black shadow clinging to Han Fei's back.

Glancing at the several extra shadows behind him, Han Fei gradually understood why the monster had been scared away earlier. It wasn't that his acting was bad; it was that his neighbors had given him away.

The stench of blood in the air was replaced by the smell of mildew, and all sorts of writing began to appear on the walls piled with clutter, most of which were written in red paint, filled with resentment and all sorts of negative emotions.

The clutter in the middle of the corridor increased, and after turning a corner, Han Fei noticed a door made of black steel bars in the middle of the corridor, with a broken sign hanging on it that said "No Entry".

The road is blocked.

Peering through the door, I could see that most of the unpleasant smells in the hallway were coming from the depths of the corridor.

Gently shake the steel bars; the iron gate is welded very firmly, and you can't get in without a key.

After standing silently for a moment, Han Fei looked at a room next to the iron gate.

The old wooden door had its lock missing, and a table with a missing leg was leaning against the door panel. At first glance, it seemed fine, but upon closer inspection, the problem became apparent.

A handprint remained on the edge of the table, indicating that someone had moved it not long ago.

Han Fei's passive ability, Hide and Seek, is triggered without his knowledge. He possesses a terrifying intuition for hiding and searching that is almost innate.

He gently moved the table aside and went inside, without making a sound throughout the entire process.

Holding the altar, Han Fei skillfully avoided the debris on the floor and arrived at the smashed shop window in the room.

Peeking inside, I saw a young man in a security guard uniform huddled under the shop window. He held a yellowed ghost story book in his hand, biting his finger as he stared intently at the words on the page.

The ghostly faces on the pages were grotesque and terrifying, but some of the color had faded. The man's expression also changed as the plot progressed.

His chest heaved, feeling terrified, yet he couldn't resist watching.

The scene inside the room was somewhat terrifying. The young security guard was huddled up, intently flipping through a ghost story book in his hands. Above his head, a human face quietly appeared, silently watching him.

In the darkness, after an unknown amount of time, the young security guard finally finished reading a story.

He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, blew hot air into his palm, and then stretched his stiff neck.

Looking at the cheap digital watch on his wrist, the young security guard picked up the ghost story book, braced himself against the ground, and prepared to stand up.

"Time to go on patrol, can't keep slacking off."

He propped himself up with his hands, and had only risen halfway when his wandering gaze inadvertently swept over the top of his head.

As if struck by lightning, he remained in his pose, as if time had frozen.

There's a human face in the broken part of the shop window!
Their eyes met, and a subtle atmosphere filled the air.

"Don't be afraid, I'm a new security guard." Han Fei only wanted to complete the mission and level up, and wasn't very interested in scaring people. He showed a kind and warm smile, and then walked out from behind the shop window wearing the security guard uniform covered in blood.

He plopped down on the ground, the young security guard pushed off with his feet, and moved backward until his back hit the wall.

"If I wanted to harm you, I would have done it already. I really am a security guard." Han Fei reached out his hand to the other person, trying to pull him up.

"You, you're lying to me! My master just told me a while ago that this fourth basement level is very strange. A security guard came in to patrol at midnight and never came out again!" The young security guard looked at Han Fei's outstretched hand as if he were looking at a venomous snake that was flicking its tongue.

"You know it's dangerous here, so why did you come here to read ghost stories? If you walk at night often, how can you avoid encountering ghosts?" Han Fei felt like he had stepped into a strange role, and these words shouldn't be coming from him.

"This is the only place in the entire building without surveillance cameras, I..."

"So you came here to slack off?" Looking at the gloomy and terrifying little house, Han Fei sighed from the bottom of his heart, "Have security companies gotten to this point now? Forcing their employees to sneak into restricted areas where people have died to slack off?"

Using the secret to touch the depths of the soul, Han Fei pulled the young security guard up and casually brushed the dust off his shoulder: "Don't be afraid, I am indeed a new security guard. Take me to other places, I have a lot of things I want to ask you."

"Are you really not a ghost?" The young security guard reached out and poked Han Fei's arm, feeling the long-lost warmth.

"Is it really that hard to prove you're a person?" Han Fei said helplessly. He snatched the ghost story book from the young security guard and stuffed it into the altar. "Read less of these books in the future. There aren't that many ghosts in the world. You should believe in science!"

After saying that, he turned and walked outside. As soon as the altar opened, a series of ferocious black shadows took the opportunity to slip inside.
