Chapter 1625 Finding Reed (Long Chapter, Requesting Monthly Tickets)

He Ao anticipated that there might be a 'countermeasure' rule, so he remotely used his divine sense to control the folding knife and touched the button.

Compared to direct throwing, consciousness has an 'initiative', seemingly able to move on its own.

This could have led to a misjudgment of the rules, treating the folding knife as the 'main body' and folding it up.

This is equivalent to fixing a bug.

He Ao originally estimated that the most likely thing to happen was some kind of 'attack' on the person who unlocked the button. He did not expect that the rule was 'exchange' and that it would happen to exploit a loophole in the rule.

There was an element of luck involved.

Of course, if he's unlucky, he'll just get held captive, and Finn will rescue him, or they can find another child to 'exchange' him for.

Once you understand the rules, as long as you follow them, there will always be a solution.

The most dangerous time is when the rules are not yet clear.

"Hey, save me, you there!" At this moment, the fat guy Cato, who was not far away, was also staring in disbelief as Finn was rescued. He didn't know how Heo did it, but it was clear that Heo had mastered some kind of method that could rescue people without any cost.

He raised his voice, "Hey you, Loren, put me down right now, or I'll yell and call the teachers over, let them know you've secretly escaped punishment! The security guards will definitely lock you in the dark room!"

"Do you know where the craft activity room is?" Heo asked Finn.

“This is the classroom,” Finn said, pointing to a classroom next to him.

He Ao went into the classroom, took some things, and then quickly came out and walked to the fat man hanging on the wall.

"Hehe, Loren, are you scared now?" The fat man looked at He Ao and spoke softly.

However, before he could finish speaking, a piece of silver tape was smeared on his mouth.

Then seven or eight more pieces of tape were used to completely cover his mouth and cheeks.

"Uh-huh--"

He looked at He Ao, whose hands were cuffed, and who was struggling like a salted fish hanging on the wall, but he couldn't say a word.

"Hahaha--"

Finn burst out laughing when he saw this.

Heo returned to Finn's side and walked deeper into the corridor. "Let's go."

"Hehehe." Finn made a face at the fat man and caught up with Heo's pace. "Loren, you're amazing. I never knew you were this good before."

“We’ve never done these things together before,” He Ao said casually.

“Oh yeah.” Finn scratched his head, looking at Heo. “Did you find the dean in the dean’s office?”

“No, the dean doesn’t seem to be in the dean’s office,” He Ao shook his head. “I only saw two figures that looked like they had been burned to a crisp.”

“Those are ‘school janitors’,” Finn scratched his head, looked at Heo who had turned around and was looking at him with a puzzled expression, and continued, “They appear and disappear mysteriously, sometimes suddenly appearing and sometimes disappearing, and sometimes you’ll find them chatting in a corner.”

He looked at He Ao with some doubt, "Haven't you encountered this before?"

“Sounds like a ‘volunteer’ from outside the compound.” He Ao shook his head and said slowly.

It seems that Finn's 'memory' is somewhat different from his real memories.

This reminded He Ao that the orphanage did indeed have some mysterious volunteers who were physically strong but not enthusiastic; they just worked and hardly ever chatted with the children.

Of course, for an orphanage that keeps getting new children but whose total number of children is not increasing, this 'abnormality' is nothing.

However, if those charred figures were indeed 'volunteers,' then the dean was indeed not in his office.

He looked at Finn and asked slowly, "Have you seen the Dean recently?"

“No,” Finn shook his head, “I haven’t seen him recently.”

What if the director wasn't at the orphanage at all that day?
He Ao seemed to be deep in thought.

Where exactly are those members of the cult hiding?
“Oh, right,” Finn suddenly remembered something and looked at Heo, “didn’t you ask me before if I had seen any unfamiliar faces?”

"Hmm?" He Ao looked at him.

“I just ran out, about a distance toward the kitchen, and through the classroom window, I think I saw a strange face hanging on the wall in the hallway,” Finn scratched his head.

"Where is it?" He Ao asked quickly.

“It’s just ahead,” Finn said, pointing ahead. “He’s hanging on the porch over there, just around the corner. I’ll take you there.”

As he spoke, he started jogging.

He Ao followed his pace, and soon the two turned a small corner.

A figure also came into view.

He was a little boy wearing a slightly oversized coat, with light brown hair, a fair and tender round face, and light dark brown pupils.

It looks fair-skinned and chubby, and is only a little over a meter tall.

The two walked up to the figure.

Staring at the figure hanging on the wall, He Ao was silent for a moment. He pressed down on the corners of his mouth, remained silent for a moment, and then asked softly, "Re...D?"

The little boy hanging on the wall was silent for a moment. He looked at He Ao and tentatively asked, "Loren?"

Then he paused for a moment, and said slowly, "Laugh if you want to."

"It's okay, you're quite cute," He Ao said, covering his mouth and chuckling softly.

Then he turned his head away.

Reed: ......

"You two know each other?" Finn asked curiously from the side.

“This is Reed,” Heo coughed lightly, regained his composure, looked at Finn, and introduced him, “This is a friend I met outside.”

"Outside?" Finn was clearly taken aback. "Outside the orphanage? You have friends outside, don't you?"

“Yes, we’ve only known each other for a short time.” He nodded slightly, then looked at Reed and introduced him slowly, “This is Finn, my companion here.”

"Companions here? You have companions here?" Reed was also slightly taken aback, clearly surprised.

He understood what Heo meant: 'Finn' was not an outside 'explorer', but rather an 'existence' within this anomaly.

He looked at him and said softly, "I belong here."

He himself was one of these orphans.

Upon hearing this, Reed quickly realized what was happening.

"Loren, should we put your friend down?" Finn, who was a little dazed, asked at this moment.

“Hmm,” Heo nodded. As he spoke, he had already picked up the folding knife again. He looked at Finn and said, “Let’s step back.”

“Okay.” Finn nodded.

The two quickly retreated, maintaining their line of sight and increasing the distance between them.

Then he suddenly 'threw' the folding knife in his hand.

The folding knife flew through the air, appearing to be heading straight ahead from a distance, but in reality it kept adjusting its course, making many small turns, and "just" crashed into the button above the buckle on which Reed was hanging.

click -

With a soft click, the latch came undone, and Reed fell off the wall.

The folding knife was caught by a latch protruding from the other side of the wall, then quickly slid down and fell to the ground.

He Ao only went back after everything was over.

Heo reached out and picked up the folding knife that had fallen to the ground, while Finn went to help Reed, who had fallen to the ground.

His body was noticeably stiff, his muscles poised to spring into action at any moment.

“Finn is a very good person,” Heo came over, lent a hand, and helped Reed up. “He is the most popular and enthusiastic child in our orphanage.”

“Loren, don’t say that,” Finn quickly waved his hand and said, “I’m just trying to contribute a little of my own strength.”

“Thank you.” Reed looked at Finn and smiled.

His expression was calm, but He Ao could sense that the muscles beneath his loose clothes were still taut.

"How did you end up hanging here?" He looked at Reed with some curiosity.

“I didn’t see you when I came in,” Reed said slowly, “so I went straight into the main building.”

"Which door?" He asked slowly.

Reed looked up, glanced around, and then pointed behind him. "They must have come in from that side."

“It’s the side door on the right,” Finn said slowly, glancing in the direction Finn was pointing. “Unlike us, we came in from the front.”

He looked at Reed, somewhat puzzled, and said, "The ghost is also in front, but if you come in through the main gate and go to the right, you might also encounter the ghost."

"What ghost?" Reed asked, somewhat puzzled.

“A little girl in a white dress, who’s out there grabbing people,” He Ao said slowly.

“I didn’t encounter it,” Reed shook his head. “I crossed the outside plaza and went straight into this main building.”

"You're really lucky; you just happened to dodge the ghost," Finn exclaimed.

"The stairwell is right inside the side door. Did you go upstairs?" He Ao asked curiously.

“Yes,” Reed nodded. “For anomalies involving buildings, the building itself usually shows obvious distortion points. It’s easier to find information about the building’s core near the distortion points. Since there’s no distortion on the outside of this building, the distortion point is probably inside. I glanced at the first floor and didn’t see any obvious distortion, so I went straight upstairs.”

"What is a distortion point?" He Ao asked directly.

“You can think of it as a place that is obviously different from common sense,” Reed said. “A large anomaly may have many twist points, such as the endless corridor in the Triple Tower, the fog on the 27th floor, the container, and the echo, which are also twist points.”

“Anomaly?” He pondered his definition of 'distortion point' and uttered a single word.

“Yes, it’s actually the most ‘abnormal’ part of the anomalies.” Reed nodded. “Not every distortion point can be found near important intelligence, but generally important intelligence will appear near the distortion points.”

"Looks like you've found the twist point?" He Ao glanced at the unlocked clasp on the wall and asked quickly.

“Found one,” Reed nodded, “on the fourth floor.”

He looked up at the corridor beside him. "The corridor on the fourth floor is much longer than this one. One end extends into the darkness, and there's an Ashman in a blue uniform guarding that darkness."

“Those are the orphanage’s ‘security guards’,” He Ao explained slowly, then he also glanced back at the corridor. “But this building doesn’t have any extensions on the fourth floor.”

“Yes, so this is a clear ‘twist point’,” Reed nodded. “That corridor should lead to another, deeper ‘space’.”

At this point, he sighed, "But there was a security guard there. I was thinking of throwing something to distract him and going behind him, but as soon as I got close to the dark area, the guard suddenly appeared in front of me."

He looked up at the clips on the wall, "and then it just got hung here."

“The security guards here have a very strong ‘intuition’,” He Ao said slowly. “Once they sense any danger, they will immediately ‘arrest’ people.”

He glanced at Finn beside him and continued, "The first time he was hung on the wall, the second time he was put in solitary confinement, and I don't know about the third time."

“The third one will probably be some kind of forced ‘instant death’ attack,” Reed sighed, “like the three lives in some old games.”

"I didn't expect you to use a game as a metaphor." He Ao looked at him with surprise.

“I’m only ten or twenty years older than you,” Reed laughed. “I wasn’t dug out during the Cataclysm. I used to go to high school and college, and I played games with my roommates and classmates.”

“Wait, wait,” Finn raised his hand, “what are you guys talking about? I don’t understand a word you’re saying.”

“I’m talking about the passageway at the end of the fourth-floor corridor,” Heo looked at Finn and asked slowly, “Do you know how to get through that passageway?”

Reed's 'experience' was indeed useful; as soon as he entered the anomaly, he knew what to look for and where to find it, and he did indeed discover crucial clues.

“That passage?” Finn looked at Heo, seemingly lost in memories. “It seems only the Dean and his group can get through that passage. The security guards there are the fiercest. If we get even a little too close, we’ll be hung up.”

"Can't teachers go in either?" He Ao looked at him and asked slowly.

“It doesn’t seem likely,” Finn shook his head. “I didn’t see any teachers go by.”

“Where is the dean’s office? Perhaps we could go and see that ‘dean’,” Reed pondered.

“No, I’ve already looked,” He Ao shook his head. “The dean isn’t in the dean’s office, and might not even be in this building.”

He pondered for a moment and then briefly recounted what he had just done to Reed.

"So, the people from the Anomalous Cult aren't here?" Reed paused for a moment, then pondered, "This means that this Anomalous Cult probably has an 'inner space,' an inner space that can hide people."

"Is that dark passage guarded by the security guard the passage leading to the inner space?" He Ao pondered as well.

"Possibly." Reed nodded slightly.

After exchanging information, the situation, which had been shrouded in mist, became much clearer.

“If that’s the case,” Reed pondered, “then I suspect the Aberrant Cult won’t leave us any credentials or methods to pass through that passage normally.”

"Perhaps there are other ways to enter the inner space."

Just then, He Ao seemed to remember something and whispered.
