Chapter 1623 Dean's Office (Seeking monthly votes at the beginning of the month)
“Yes, none of us know her,” Finn shook his head. “We can’t talk to her, so we can only call her a ghost.”
“That child was captured by a ghost,” Heo said slowly. “I remember he’s only been here a little over a week, right?”
“Yes,” Finn nodded. “He was the last new kid, and he’s never had much luck.”
He seemed unmoved, fearless, and unconcerned by the child turning to ashes on the spot.
It was as if it really was just a child caught in a game of hide-and-seek.
He Ao lowered his head, not delving deeper into the topic, but instead asked, "Are there many 'unfamiliar faces' like 'Ghost' lately?"
If members of those cults had come in, the 'children' here shouldn't have seen them before.
“It seems like only ‘ghosts’ come,” Finn shook his head and looked at Heo. “You know, there are very few strangers in the yard, and when they do come, they are all new children.”
In other words, do those abnormal sects have other 'disguises' or 'identities' here?
While pondering, He Ao continued, "Finn, do you know where the Dean's office is?"
“Loren, are you really running a fever?” Finn reached out and touched Heo’s forehead again. “The dean’s office is on the third floor, the one in the middle of the third floor, the big, comfortable, and luxurious one.”
This is the same layout as in He's 'memory'.
"Can you take me there?" He asked slowly.
"Are you going to the dean's office?" Finn's eyes widened. "Are you crazy?"
Finn looked at the somewhat puzzled Heo and said seriously, "There are security guards guarding the entrance to the dean's office. They're extremely fierce. If you disobey their orders, you'll be hung on the wall!"
"Hanging on the wall?" He Ao asked, somewhat puzzled.
“It means hanging it on the wall in the corridor so that everyone can see it. It’s a violation of orders,” Finn said slowly. “The first offense is being hung on the wall, the second offense is being thrown into solitary confinement.”
"And the third time?" He asked slowly.
“Nobody makes the same mistake three times,” Finn shook his head, seemingly a little scared, and whispered, “You can’t make the same mistake three times anyway.”
"So there's no way to get into the dean's office from the front?" He Ao asked softly.
“Hmm,” Finn nodded, “We can’t get in.”
"Then how about we climb in through the other window?" He Ao asked slowly.
"Climb in through the window?" Finn's eyes widened. "That's the third floor! That's so high!!"
"If I could climb over, do you think it would be feasible?" He Ao continued to ask.
“It seems feasible,” Finn pondered, “but there are security guards patrolling outside the window.”
“We can go around him, wait for him to pass, and then climb up,” He Ao said directly. “I’m fast, don’t worry.”
"Shall we give it a try?!" Finn looked at Heo, his face flushed with excitement. "Should we really give it a try?"
“Of course!” He Ao nodded.
He raised his gaze to the corridor behind him. "I remember the dean's office window is on the other side of this building. We have to go out through the back door."
“Yes!” Finn nodded.
"Wait for me a moment." With that, He Ao slowly walked back, opened the door, and looked outside.
His gaze fell on the charred fragments of the child who had just turned to ashes, which lay on the water's surface not far away.
“The ghost should be gone by now. She’ll leave once she can’t find anyone.” At that moment, Finn also peeked over, curiously following Heo as he looked outside.
"Okay." He Ao nodded gently. "Wait for me here."
He cautiously went outside, glancing left and right, but no one was there.
He took another step forward and glanced left and right.
Behind the slide ahead, the hem of a white skirt could be faintly seen undulating.
Without hesitation, he rushed out, picked up the broken pieces, and then rushed back into the house, leaning against the wall.
Almost the instant he left, the girl in the white dress stood where the shards had originally fallen.
······
Heo pulled Finn back, who wanted to look outside again, and said slowly, "Don't look, let's go to the other side."
“Okay.” Finn nodded.
The two got up and walked deeper into the corridor.
The first floor of the orphanage's main building consists of large classrooms with a wide corridor in the middle.
He looked out the window at the desks and toys in the classroom. Most of the children were setting up welcome items in the classroom at the other end of the corridor, so there was no one in this classroom.
Looking at that 'familiar' classroom and scene.
In that instant, he seemed to detach from reality and step into real memories.
"Those two over there!" Just then, a shout woke He Ao.
He looked up at the source of the sound. Not far in front of him, on the wall of the corridor, hung a tall and fat boy.
His hands were handcuffed with two iron hoops, and he was hanging from the wall of the corridor, looking in the direction of Heo and Finn, shouting.
“That’s Cato,” Finn turned to look at Heo. “He bullied the other kids and accidentally hit the teacher, so he’s hanging here.”
“Yes, I know him,” Heo said calmly. “He tried to bully me before.”
There were two "tyrants" in this orphanage. One was the older child who had a fight with Loren in his memory and was "adopted" shortly afterward.
It was the disappearance of this older child that triggered Loren's desire to escape.
The other one is this Cato.
He had wanted to bully Loren before, but after seeing Loren fight with the older kids, he chickened out and only dared to verbally berate them.
"You know him?" Finn was a little surprised.
He Ao glanced at him helplessly, "I just don't interact with people much, it's not like I don't know anyone at all. There are only a few kids in the orphanage, and I've gotten to know quite a few of them in the few months I've been here."
“Indeed.” Finn scratched his head awkwardly.
"You two, I'm talking to you, what are you muttering about?" Cato, who was hanging on the wall, shouted. "Come here and help me unlock this lock."
“Only the teacher can unlock that lock,” Finn looked up at the stout Cato, “We can’t unlock it.”
“What are you saying?” Cato roared angrily. “See that button on my hand? Press it and it’ll be unlocked.”
Finn turned his gaze to Heo.
He Ao shook his head.
"Loren, are you still holding a grudge against me? It was your own stupidity that made you this way, not because I wanted to bully you," Cato shouted. "Let me go right now, or I'll tell the teacher you're not helping your classmate."
Heo ignored him, and Finn hesitated for a moment before turning his gaze away and following Heo down the corridor.
Soon, the two passed through the corridor and arrived at a small door at the back of the main building.
The small door is closed at the moment, but there is a small window on the door through which you can see the outside.
He stood on tiptoe, raising his gaze above the window to look outside.
The rain outside intensified, pouring down on the ground like a torrential downpour.
