Chapter 690 Upper Class Society

Chapter 690 Upper Class Society
The car passed a fountain and stopped next to a two-story building. The building had gray walls and blue glass. It was simple, elegant, and had a hint of art.

Luke and Lilith got out of the car. The pink Rolls-Royce circled the fountain and left from another intersection.

In Luke's impression, art exhibitions are usually held in bustling areas in the city center, or at worst in the suburbs with convenient transportation, so that it is convenient for guests to visit the exhibitions.

This is a private estate, and Luke didn't see any other vehicles. He asked, "How many people can come to this exhibition?"

"That depends on how many people the person holding the exhibition invites. However, the number of people shouldn't be too many."

Luke and Lilith walked to the entrance of the exhibition hall, and a receptionist in a suit bowed slightly, "Miss Finn and this distinguished gentleman, welcome to the exhibition. There are still a few minutes before the exhibition officially begins.

I can take you to the lounge area for a cup of coffee first."

"I can just go by myself."

The man in a suit gestured for invitation, "After entering the hall, just go to the right."

The two entered the hall and walked to the right. In front of them were several rows of sofas and several round tables with fruits, desserts and various drinks on them.

Luke asked, "Does the receptionist at the door know you?"

Lilith shook her head, “This is the first time I’ve met him.

He may have seen my picture.”

Luke took a quick look and saw about twenty people in the exhibition hall on the first floor. Some were admiring the paintings, while others were sitting on the sofas in the lounge area chatting.

Luke asked, "Want something to eat?"

"No.

I'm going to say hello to someone I know, do you want to come with me?" Lilith asked.

"Wait a minute. I'm going to go eat something first." Luke walked around and ordered a bowl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream.

The ice cream is rich and delicious.

While eating, Luke observed the people around him. Lilith was the one who was dressed more casually among the group. Many female guests were dressed up. One of them was wearing a skirt, revealing her white thighs. Luke felt cold just looking at her.

A few minutes later, a white man with a hooked nose walked up to the makeshift podium in the middle of the exhibition hall and said a few words of welcome. Luke then realized that he was the organizer of this private art exhibition.

Luke asked Lilith beside him, "What does he do?"

"His name is Manny Hartung. His family is engaged in finance and art collection. The paintings in this exhibition are all from his collection."

“What is the purpose of his exhibition?”

"There could be many purposes. Instead of wasting time on this, why don't you see if there is a work you like? I'll give it to you as a Spring Festival gift."

“Are all the paintings here for sale?”

"Yes."

“Why don’t I see the price?”

"If you like a painting, you can ask the waiter next to you and they will tell you the price of the painting."

Luke strolled around the exhibition. Most of the paintings on display were oil paintings, and one-third of the paintings were from the same painter. However, Luke had never heard of this painter's name. As for the paintings themselves... Luke thought they were just so-so.

Of course, it may also be that Luke is still in the nouveau riche stage and his aesthetic level has not been improved.

Luke picked out a pastoral-style oil painting that was quite attractive and asked about the price, which turned out to be $500,000.

With Luke's current wealth, he can afford it, but he always feels that the water is a little complicated and he can't figure it out.

Lilith came over and said, "You like this painting, I'll give it to you."

Luke shook his head. “Actually, my own painting skills are pretty good too, remember?”

Lilith smiled and said, "Yes, it's the style my sister likes."

Luke joked, "If you like, I can also draw one for you."

"You'd be better off drawing criminal investigation sketches." Lilith snorted and asked, "I just met a few friends who want to invite us to have lunch together at noon. Do you want to go?"

"Go, I just want to experience your life, why not go?"

It's approaching noon.

Luke and Lilith rushed to the Barro Restaurant in a hot pink Rolls-Royce.

Traveling with them were several of Lilith's friends, each of whom was driving a luxury car, forming a luxury convoy that was very eye-catching on the road.

While waiting for the red light at an intersection, Luke suddenly saw a familiar figure on the side of the road - Will.

In the morning, the fat boy said he wanted to go out and play with Will, but at this time Luke only saw Will and did not see the fat boy.

Luke pulled out his phone and dialed Will's number, "Will, it's Luke."

"Brother, are you okay?"

"Is Jack with you?"

"Yes, we are together and are about to go to dinner."

"I'm going to eat too, where are you going to eat?"

"Uh...we're near Beit Street, planning on getting a pizza, where are you?"

"That's a bit far. You guys eat it."

"Okay, there are a lot of people here and it's a bit chaotic, so I'll hang up first." Will said and hung up the phone.

Luke glanced at him again. Yes, it was Will's figure, but the fat man was not there, and this was not Bate Street.

So, why did this guy lie?
Luke wanted to call the fat boy, but he didn't finish dialing the number and put his phone away.

Through a brief exchange with Will, Luke roughly guessed that the two were most likely in collusion, and beating them would be useless.

Let’s talk about it when we get home.

Lilith saw that Luke was distracted and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I saw a friend."

"I almost forgot that you grew up in New York."

While chatting, the car drove to Witney Street, in front of the Barro Restaurant.

After Luke got out of the car, he looked at the gorgeous restaurant and asked, "Who's treating us today?"

Lilith pointed to the blond man in front and said, "His name is Audero Myers, and he's the owner of the restaurant."

The group came to the platform on the second floor of the restaurant, where there is a glass greenhouse. While dining here, one can see the scenery outside, with a good view and greater privacy.

Everyone sat at an oval dining table, seven people in total including Luke.

Audero Myers looked at Luke and said, "Lilith, what is this friend's name? This is probably the first time we meet."

Lilith said, "Let him introduce himself."

Luke said, "My name is Luke Lee, I live in Los Angeles, and I'm a lapd."

The curly-haired girl sitting across from Luke asked, "Are you really a police officer?"

"Yes."

The curly-haired girl questioned, "Then how did you become friends with Lilith?"

Luke laughed, “I was patrolling the street one day and saw a car speeding, so I stopped it.

There was a beautiful blonde girl in the car. She sincerely admitted her mistake and asked me to let her go.

I told her to either take the ticket or buy me a drink…

Then we got to know each other.”

Lilith was a little amused and confused. What a bullshit.

The curly-haired girl shook her wine glass. “Luckily you met Lilith and not me, otherwise, you might have been suspended.”

Luke spread his hands. "Why?"

"My dad wouldn't let me date a police officer.

Besides, he knows a lot of high-ranking people in the Los Angeles Police Department, and he only needs a phone call…” The curly-haired girl had an expression that said, “You know what I mean.”

Luke tilted his head slightly and whispered to Lilith, "Does this woman have a grudge against you? I think she deserves a beating."

Lilith chuckled and said, "She's not targeting you, she just has a problem with her brain."

Lilith was also a little helpless. Although most of the rich second-generations were well educated and well-mannered, there were always some unambitious guys who liked to gain a sense of superiority by belittling others.

Luke also laughed, "That makes sense."

The curly-haired girl seemed a little unhappy with the two people's whispering, "Are you talking about me?"

Lilith raised her chin slightly, “Rosie Pell, Luke is my guest, and your tone just now was very rude.

You should apologize to him."

Audero Myers also looked at Rosie Perle, "Yes, Luke is also my guest."

Rosie Pell curled her lips and said, “I was just joking, I didn’t mean any harm.

Also, my dad does know a lot of high-ranking people in the LAPD.

If there is a chance, I can introduce you to my father, which may be very helpful for your future work."

Luke asked back, "Is your father familiar with the LAPD?"

"of course."

"Then your father should know me too."

"Do you know who my father is?"

"do not know."

The curly-haired girl was a little disdainful, "Then why do you think my father should know you?"

"In the entire Los Angeles Police Department, no one is more famous than me except Chief Reagan." Luke didn't care whether her father knew the top brass of the Los Angeles Police Department.

He has no shortage of background, no shortage of achievements, and no shortage of fame. What he lacks is only qualifications.

The curly-haired girl questioned, "Wait, aren't you a patrol officer? Why are you so arrogant?"

Audero Myers interrupted her, “Don’t be silly.

How could Lilith's friend be just an ordinary patrolman? He was just joking, did you take it seriously? "

A man with pigtails across from him looked at Luke and frowned slightly. "I watched the Los Angeles news a few days ago and saw that the leader of a mafia family was shot dead by the police. The commander looked a bit like you. Is it you?"

Luke said, "The Denara family."

"Yes, it's you." The man with pigtails was a little excited and curious, "I heard that the entire gang's team was beaten to pieces, and no one was left alive. Is that true?"

Luke didn't answer directly, "They shot first."

The man with pigtails exclaimed, “Oh my god, I saw a photo of the scene, it was crazy!

Was it you who gave the order at that time?"

"It's me." Luke didn't hide it.

The eyes of the people present changed when they looked at Luke. They realized that he was a tough guy, and no one dared to provoke him anymore.

Luke didn't care too much. Any organization has a certain degree of exclusivity. He just wanted to experience the life of the "upper class". Now it seems like killing monsters and leveling up in a game.

It's just a change of scene, facing different monsters.
