Chapter 4266 Island Holiday (Part 1)

The island was very close to the crash site; you could even see the palm trees swaying gently in the breeze. At this latitude, the chill had mostly dissipated, and the wind blowing past their ears was warm. The group walked along the ice created by the icemen, circling most of the island until they reached the beach. As soon as they arrived, they discovered a small hut where the beach met the jungle.

The group didn't rush to the beach because the conditions there were rather primitive, and all kinds of protective measures had to be taken. Parents started dressing their children in beach shoes, protective raincoats, and spraying them with insect repellent, reminding them not to run around in the jungle.

The adults were all changing into beach sandals. Normal shoes get a lot of sand on them, so everyone either wore boots or sandals. Besides, no one had expected such a sudden descent, and the UV rays here are no joke. After just ten minutes or so, their skin was already burning from the sun.

Meanwhile, those very pure white people visibly began to turn red. Steve grinned as he looked at Stark's skin. This rich guy usually tanned intentionally, but he'd been too busy lately and hadn't done it in a long time, causing him to revert to a white complexion. He'd been wearing sunglasses before he came over, but now that he'd taken them off, only the area around his eyes was white; the rest was red.

“What are you looking at?” Stark said irritably. “It’s time to prove that the sunscreen I picked is the most effective.”

"Then you can put it on." Steve walked over and put his arm around Bucky's shoulder, only to find that Bucky was also applying sunscreen. Natasha looked at him with the same puzzled expression.

“Are you kidding me!” Natasha said. “Aren’t you a cyborg? Why are you wearing sunscreen?”

“That’s right, man, genetically modified humans don’t get tanned,” Steve said. “Look at me, my skin tone is always perfectly even…”

Bucky rolled his eyes and said, "Is it possible that only my arms were replaced with mechanical arms, instead of being genetically modified all over like you guys?"

Both of them were greatly shocked. Natasha gestured and said, "But this is impossible! How could you possibly move such a mechanical arm with an ordinary human body?"

"Don't you know about the Soviet Union's advanced technology?"

Schiller is applying sunscreen to the Billy brothers. Wanda has quite a few children, and she and Jarvis are adjusting the stroller to prevent the wheels from getting stuck in the sand, so the task of looking after the two brothers falls to Schiller.

"It's amazing, Doctor, you didn't get impatient at all. My mom gets impatient all the time. The two of them chatter on and on, and my dad, he's like a robot, he gets annoyed by us too..."

“I’m a psychiatrist,” Schiller said. “No matter what, you can’t be any more eccentric than those mental patients. Turn around, I’ll smear some on the back of your necks too…”

Little Jack was quite well-behaved; being older, he could apply the paint himself and even made Matt kneel down to help him. Pepper, while gently pressing down on the wildly swinging Morgan, said with a hint of envy, "My goodness, how can your little darling be so considerate? Okay, Morgan! I won't let you play until you've painted all behind your ears. Don't move!!!"

Erica patted Jack's head and said, "To be honest, I never thought my child would be so quiet. My dad told me I was incredibly mischievous when I was little, and I used to worry about what would happen if he was like me. Now it seems he should be more outgoing."

“Well, I think he has the potential to be a scientist,” Matt said. “What happened before was my fault. I never thought that blind children would be discriminated against. It would have been better if we had moved sooner.”

The young people had already mingled with the other tourists, taking photos with their phones, showing off the cookies the tourists offered, and some even livestreaming with selfie sticks. Strangely, there was even a signal on this remote island, though it was a bit laggy. But being able to communicate at all was already a good thing, considering this was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

They prepared there for a while, and then saw two people come out of the small house. The two people approached and called out in their direction. Everyone was bewildered, not knowing what language they were speaking.

"Is this a local Hawaiian dialect?" Polaris scratched his head and asked, "Don't they speak English in Hawaii?"

Schiller and Xu Shangqi both understood; it was Chinese. Schiller quickly went up and said, "Hello, our plane has crashed, and this is the nearest island. Are you staff here?"

Upon hearing that the plane had crashed, the two men were terrified and quickly asked if they needed a doctor. Schiller quickly waved his hand and said, "They are American superheroes, belonging to S.H.I.E.L.D., who saved these two planes. No one is injured, but we need a place to rest..."

The other person immediately gave a thumbs up and then pointed to the small house next to them. Schiller looked over and seemed to vaguely see the words "noodle shop." The Chinese really are NPCs in the world; even after a plane crash and being stranded on a desert island, they still manage to find a Chinese noodle shop.

Schiller then went back to deliver the message, and Xu Shangqi came over to chat with them. Xu Shangqi, with his distinctly Asian features, naturally became more familiar with them and quickly found out the reason.

This isn't really an unfinished island; it's completely built, just not open to the public yet, and it's an asset of the Shenmao Bureau. Originally, it was intended for tourism development, but due to the tightening of global flight approvals, even if it were open now, there wouldn't be enough flights to this location, so it has to be put on hold.

Because they were stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash, which falls under international humanitarian aid regulations, and the island's personnel were there to assist accident victims, they quickly invited them into the noodle shop. Soon, plumes of steam rose from the chimney.

When the noodles were served, Xu Shangqi was moved to tears: "Finally, there's something delicious to eat again."

Schiller also tried a bite of the noodles, which were just ordinary homemade hand-pulled noodles. Perhaps because the ingredients were not enough, there was a sauce made with tomatoes and eggplants, and dried shrimp and minced meat were also added. The taste was quite good.

However, it's impossible for such restaurants to always have forks on hand. Fortunately, chopsticks aren't that difficult to use; you'll get the hang of it after a while.

The main reason Peter, who often ate at Schiller's place, wasn't very good with chopsticks was that Schiller didn't really like noodles. He preferred rice and stir-fries, which could be eaten with a spoon, so there wasn't much of an environment where chopsticks were necessary.

But noodles are different, especially hand-pulled noodles, which can't be rolled up like pasta. So you can see foreigners in noodle shops frantically trying to get the noodles into their mouths with chopsticks in all sorts of strange ways.

Feeding the children was even more chaotic. Pepper quickly stopped little Morgan from grabbing the chopsticks, but Helen bit off a piece. Wanda's youngest daughter, still breastfeeding, was crying loudly from hunger. Jarvis borrowed hot water from a staff member to make formula, but several young children among the tourists, attracted by the smell, wanted some too. The entire restaurant descended into chaos.

Schiller was certainly good with chopsticks, and even if he didn't like noodles, he had no choice in the current situation. He quickly finished his meal and then went to contact rescue efforts.

He called Nick first. Nick was so angry he laughed when he learned that their plane had crashed.

"Listen, I don't have time to mess around with you guys. You mean most of you can fly from Earth to the Andromeda Galaxy in three seconds, and now you want me to send planes to rescue you?! Get lost!"

“Wait, don’t rush.” Schiller stopped Nick from hanging up and said, “We’re not flying because that’s the only way we can get insurance compensation. There are hundreds of victims in this plane crash; it’s the worst plane crash in the last decade, the kind that’s on ‘Air Crash Investigation.’ Do you know how much the insurance company is going to pay out?”

Nick's tone immediately softened. He said, "Okay, I'll go back and ask Congress to at least get the regular passengers and crew off the plane."

After hanging up the phone, Schiller returned to the noodle shop, where most people had already finished eating. He saw a Black man approaching. The man shook his hand and said, "Hello, I'm Pudi, the captain of this flight. I'm from Wakanda. I'm very sorry this happened. If you have any communication equipment, I'd like to contact the Wakanda royal family..."

“There’s a signal here,” Schiller said. “You can make calls with your own cell phone; you don’t have to use a satellite phone.”

The other person was somewhat surprised, but considering that this was S.H.I.E.L.D. territory, he understood. As he took his phone out, he said, "When they asked me to fly the plane during the test flight of this route, I felt something was off. All the captains from Wakanda are equipped with the most advanced life support equipment in Wakanda, so they didn't have any hope for this plane at all."

Schiller frowned. He really didn't understand how a test flight could carry passengers. But he soon learned from the passengers that they had all volunteered.

Some people came because they thought the plane flew fast and they were in a hurry to go back; some were professionals in related industries who came to investigate; and some were internet celebrities who thought it was the next hot topic and came purely to join in the fun.

Schiller was speechless. Didn't he deserve it?
No wonder there wasn't any wailing or panic when the plane crashed; apparently, most people were waiting for this. Now the plane really did crash, and it was even saved by a superhero! They can ride the wave of a trending topic, capitalize on the superhero's popularity, and even get insurance compensation. You could say they have some investment acumen.

The only good news is that the insurance company is bound to suffer a huge loss this time. These aren't ordinary people on the plane; those who risk their lives for a hot topic are not easy to deal with. Plus, Nick also wants to make a profit, so he's sure to skin them alive this time.

Thinking about this, Schiller felt a little better. He walked out of the restaurant and looked at the azure sea and sky. This small island was closer to the equator than Hawaii, and its climate was warmer. Because it had only been built recently, there was little pollution, and the water near the shore was crystal clear.

Then he started checking his inventory. He remembered he had brought his diving equipment, but he didn't know if there were any coral reefs or schools of fish nearby. He had to take lots of beautiful photos to deter those guys from coming on vacation with him.

Suddenly he realized that this time he had done just what the agent wanted. Although he didn't know if the agent had come to Hawaii in this universe, he had indeed successfully avoided him.

After lunch, everyone dispersed and began to explore. The island wasn't very big, and apart from the somewhat high cliffs on the east side, there were no other dangers or wild animals. The most venomous insects were mosquitoes, so the staff didn't stop them from exploring.

Schiller pulled out all the toys he had bought, and the children were immediately captivated, jumping and squealing as they crowded around. Schiller said to Helen, "Take them to play, but don't let them sit in the excavator's bucket; they might fall..."

“Don’t worry,” Helen gestured to him, then said, “That sandcastle I built on the beach on the West Coast is now a famous tourist attraction. I have to show off to these kids!”
