Out of control and sinking

Jiang Ruan hummed in response: "Can't I even feel a little touched?"

"He Jing," the man introduced, then casually picked up an exquisitely packaged box from the table that looked expensive: "This is a gift I prepared for my sister-in-law. It was our first meeting and I didn't know what she liked, so I just listened to my assistant and bought her a piece of jewelry. I hope she doesn't think it's too meager."

"When you two get married, I will definitely make time to go and personally give you a big gift."

As he spoke, He Jing casually touched the cigar in his pocket.

Just as I was about to take it out, I saw Jiang Ruan and put it back.

He Jing had someone bring the menu and handed it to Jiang Ruan.

"I just ordered some of their signature dishes. Sister-in-law, see if there's anything else you'd like to eat, feel free to add it."

“Bo Ye and I have been friends for decades. I was in another city before. Plus, I was busy with work and wasn’t in Beijing much. Now that I’ve been transferred back, we’ll definitely see each other often in the future. My sister-in-law wasn’t very polite to me when we first met.”

She ordered a few dishes she liked, and two more that Bo Ye liked, before handing the menu to the waiter.

Soon, the dishes were served.

There was also alcohol.

They drank baijiu (Chinese white liquor), but Jiang Ruan wasn't very good at it, so Bo Ye had someone get her red wine.

Bo Ye poured himself a glass and picked it up, saying, "I'm late, so I'll punish myself with a glass."

Then I drank it directly.

Jiang Ruan raised her hand, but just as she touched him, He Jing said, "Sister-in-law, you don't need to drink."

Then he said to Bo Ye, "I've already said we're on the same side, no need for so much formality."

“I’m being transferred back to Beijing, and I’ll probably be stationed here permanently from now on. There are some things I’ll need your help with then,” He Jing said to Bo Ye with a smile.

"Of course, if you need my help, just let me know. There's no need to be polite between us."

Bo Ye: "Of course."

Jiang Ruan listened to their conversation while silently eating her food.

Then He Jing said.

"I plan to spend a year reshuffling the top management of departments in Beijing."
