Days wandering around Hogwarts
Chapter 527 Work
Chapter 527 Work
Charles had a lot of things to do in the company, not just the work at Farbottom Castle. Vernon would hand over the documents that the air fryer factory needed to process to a wizard who ran a bar near Privet Drive, and then send them over by owl.
The factory recently hired a foreigner who proposed to produce automatic bread slicers for supermarkets. The factory leaders were unsure about the decision, so they asked the foreign boss.
The communications notebook department is preparing to hold an Easter promotion and launch a series of new skins, which requires the boss's final approval.
Another review of the puppet has been completed, and there are some areas that need improvement.
The research department recently encountered some difficult problems that they couldn't solve, so they reported them to the boss to see if he could find a senior figure outside the company to solve them.
……
There are many similar files, and processing them requires the brain to work at high speed.
Thinking consumes a lot of energy, so Charles' office is always stocked with desserts such as cheese mille-feuille, Sicilian cheese rolls, cocoa pudding, red velvet cake, butterfly cakes, Brest puffs and mousse cakes, which are even richer than the headmaster's office at Hogwarts.
Just like American soldiers will spawn near oil, Hermione can also spawn near desserts.
After signing the documents, Charles felt a little tired. He looked up and found that Hermione had come in at some point and was sitting on the sofa, having already eaten all the Polish jam cakes.
"Why are you here?" Charles knew that she came to Farbatten Castle, but he didn't know what she came for. Now it seemed that she was heading for the dessert cabinet.
Hermione picked up a piece of Finnish pinwheel puff pastry and said while eating, "Dobby said your place is the best place for me to read."
Only then did Charles notice that there were several books on the coffee table in front of her.
"What book are you reading?" Charles wondered what book he had to come here to read.
Hermione replied, "It's a book about removing curses written by Moss Jeff and others. Dobby asked him to teach me some knowledge about removing curses."
Charles understood that it seemed that he was preparing to lift the curse on the golden egg.
"I think you're here for my dessert cabinet." He revealed Hermione's real purpose, "There are desserts in the lounge area, too."
Hermione said, "I'm not an employee of your company. It's against the rules to eat in the lounge area."
Charles thought what she said made sense. Eating the company's desserts and eating one's own desserts were two different things.
"Then take your time to look at it." He said, "There are drinks in the refrigerator."
"We also have hot drinks, such as milk tea, coffee, and other beverages."
After he finished speaking, he wrote a few words on a piece of paper that looked like a sticky note. Soon, a cup of Bicerin coffee from Turin, Italy, appeared on his desk. This coffee, which consists of espresso, hot chocolate and cream, can provide enough caffeine and energy.
Then he went to the dessert cabinet, took out an apple and took a bite of it.
"Huh?" Hermione found that there was something wrong with the apple. "Is this a puff?"
The outer sugar shell made this apple-shaped puff look exactly like a real apple, so she ignored it just now.
Charles walked back to his seat and said, "Don't eat it if it's not tasty."
Hermione didn't believe it, so she went over and took an orange, observed it and said, "I really can't tell it's a puff."
She took a bite and her face changed immediately. This was a real orange.
Charles suppressed his laughter, turned his chair toward the window behind him, and pretended to look at the scenery.
Hermione pouted and said, "You did that on purpose!"
Charles said in a serious tone, "I don't have the time for that."
He ate the apple puff in big gulps and continued to review documents with a document in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.
Hermione ate her orange dejectedly and continued to learn how to break the spell.
The office suddenly became quiet, with only the sound of turning pages and eating oranges.
Time passed little by little, and when Hermione felt her eyes sore, it was already past two in the afternoon.
She rubbed her eyes for a moment and heard Charles ask, "Do you want eye drops?"
"Is it useful?" She had never used magic eye drops before.
Charles said: "It can effectively relieve eye fatigue, and you don't have to wear glasses like Harry does."
Hermione was a little curious, so she said, "Give me some to try." She scratched her head when she got the eye drops. She knew how to use a dropper, but she had never tried to put drops into her eyes with a dropper.
Charles saw her looking up and aiming for a long time but not daring to start. When she was about to drop the medicine, she closed her eyes again. So he went over and took the dropper and said, "There is a spell on this dropper. Even if you drop it on your face, the medicine will fly into your eyes by itself."
After saying that, he held open Hermione's eyelids with one hand and dropped two drops of potion into each eye with the other hand.
Hermione felt as if her eyes had jumped into a cool spring after being exposed to the hot desert all day. All the fatigue was swept away, as if she could directly see the rings on Saturn.
"So comfortable!" She blinked. "Where did you buy it?"
She often had tired eyes from reading, and had gone to Madam Pomfrey for medicine, but it hadn't been very effective.
After Charles put the medicine bottle away, he massaged the area around her eyes and said, "A Brazilian employee made it himself. The herbs he used came from South America. The income from selling the medicine is higher than his salary."
"If you want, I'll get you an extra bottle next month."
Hermione groaned softly, and the eye drops and massage made the area around her eyes feel particularly relaxed.
Then Charles began to massage her temples and the top of her head. Hermione felt a sense of relaxation from the top of her head to the soles of her feet. The long-accumulated fatigue burst out all at once. She couldn't help yawning and fell into a deep sleep.
"Is she asleep?"
When Eleanor walked into the office, she saw Hermione snoring on the sofa, so she nudged Charles with her elbow and said with a sly smile, "Hey, do you think we are like parents who wait until their children fall asleep before doing bad things?"
Charles ignored her, covered Hermione with a blanket, and snapped his fingers. The sofa was empty and the window became gray.
Eleanor was about to take a plate of coconut macaroons from the dessert cabinet when she was taken to the mirrored space.
"Stingy!" She pouted and sat down on the sofa.
Charles said angrily: "Who is deducting my wages, and who is trying to use the minister's card to cash out at the Dancing Grass Restaurant!"
Eleanor smiled and lay down on the sofa with her head resting on Charles's legs.
Charles took out a document and said, "This is a record of Dumbledore's activities in recent times."
Today was the agreed time to submit the report, but Hermione's sudden appearance in the office disrupted the plan. Charles could only let her fall asleep first without being noticed.
Charles asked again, "What's the latest news in the ministry?"
Eleanor said, "The price of food has risen a lot recently. Arthur Weasley has been appointed as the plenipotentiary representative of the Goblin Liaison Office to negotiate with the goblins at Gringotts."
Charles shook his head and said, "This is not an easy job. I think no one in the ministry is willing to take this job, so it fell on his head in the end."
Eleanor nodded and said, "Yes, the ministry has been wrangling for a long time. I heard that some people think your grandfather has excellent diplomatic skills. Letting him negotiate may have unexpected results."
The corners of Charles' mouth twitched several times. The old man's ability to talk to people depends on the person. Asking him to negotiate with the goblin... can indeed solve the problem fundamentally, but the problem is that it is solved too fundamentally.
"Forget it." Charles shook his head. "He's busy preparing for a movie recently."
"By the way, did you find the book I asked you to look for?"
Eleanor shook her head and said, "It will take some time."
"The CT technology you want is relatively easy to obtain. I heard that the X-ray Laboratory in Leningrad is collaborating with Australia on a new technology. You can go and ask about it directly."
“The problem is you need imaging technology, and that technology doesn’t exist today.”
"But I heard that there are archaeologists in Italy who are interested in your technology. They want to study the documents carbonized by the volcano in Herculaneum."
Charles nodded. It seemed that the equipment for scanning books still had a long way to go, and he would have to rely more on himself to explore.
"Let me get some sleep." Eleanor relaxed for a rare moment and yawned.
It was time to return to Hogwarts, and after Charles sent Eleanor away, he prepared to wake up Hermione.
"I can't eat such a big candy castle..."
Hermione's sleep talking left Charles puzzled.
