Days wandering around Hogwarts

Chapter 443 Don’t Do Extra Things

Chapter 443 Don’t Do Extra Things

Fortunately, Dumbledore intervened in time and Charles was not chopped to death by Snape.

Finally, under Dumbledore's persuasion, Snape finally agreed to join the research team as a researcher.

Later, Charles suggested to the research team that they randomly capture two Death Eaters from Azkaban to serve as a comparison group.

Life at Hogwarts returned to its former peace, except for Snape.

Charles submitted an application report to Dumbledore to set up a private long-term alchemy laboratory, which was quickly approved.

Dumbledore rented a remote tower in the castle to Charles for five thousand Galleons a year to prevent other people from being affected by any accidents in the experiment.

Basically no one goes there, and it is filled with old desks and chairs that have been around for who knows how many hundreds of years.

Charles initially thought he might find some historical treasures or spells, but in the end he discovered that their only use was as firewood.

Besides Charles, only Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Professor Delacour knew about this in Hogwarts, and Charles had no intention of telling anyone else.

He asked Dobby to arrange the tower. The first floor was a maze that was off-limits to outsiders, the second to fourth floors were laboratories and warehouses, and the top fifth floor was a study and lounge.

When he prepared the experimental equipment and some potions, he suddenly realized that it was October and students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang were coming.

"So early?!" Charles was a little surprised. It was only the first week of October.

Filch posted the notice and replied, "I heard from Professor Dumbledore that the organizing committee will work together to arrange the venue in advance."

Charles thought so too.

"Good morning, Charles, Mr. Filch."

This year's Slytherin freshman Mafalda Prewett went to the cafeteria early with two girls. When she saw Charles and Filch, she greeted them.

Filch was nice to Mafalda and greeted her calmly good morning.

Charles chatted with her for a while and asked how she was doing at Hogwarts.

The two girls following her were a little surprised that Mafalda actually knew Charles, and kept asking questions as they walked into the cafeteria.

Just as Charles was about to chat with Filch, someone else came up from the basement.

"Good morning, Charles." Daphne looked happy to see him. "What have you been busy with lately? Why haven't I seen you?"

"Good morning," Charles replied politely. "I've been busy lately."

At this time Filch walked away. Daphne glanced at the notice on the notice board. Seeing that Charles was about to leave, she followed him and said, "Students from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons will arrive on Friday. I wonder how their students are doing."

Charles pinched his chin deliberately and said, "Hey, I think there must be some cute girls."

Daphne said angrily, "Are there no pretty girls in Hogwarts?"

Charles nodded and said, "Indeed."

Daphne's eyes lit up and she asked, "Which girl do you think is pretty?"

Charles answered seriously, "Professor McGonagall, Peeves, Nearly Headless Nick and the Fat Lady all said she was very beautiful when she was a student."

Daphne was silenced by his unconventional behavior and asked, "What now?"

Charles thought for a moment and said, "Now, Qiu Zhang is pretty, and Hermione Granger was pretty once too... Ouch!"

Harry and his group followed behind and eavesdropped on their conversation, which ended with Hermione kicking Charles hard in the calf.

Charles took the opportunity to jump towards the cafeteria with his legs held, leaving Daphne behind, but Hermione was not going to let him go. While eating breakfast, Hermione noticed that Ron was looking at her from time to time, so she asked, "Is there something on my face?"

Ron said puzzledly, "I don't understand why Charles said you were more beautiful before. You are obviously prettier now. Does he like big front teeth?"

Harry was drinking milk and choked so much that he couldn't even eat Voldemort's dinner.

In the Ma Family Manor, hidden somewhere, Lucius Malfoy asked nervously, "Master, is breakfast inappropriate?"

Voldemort shook his head, took the napkin and wiped his mouth gently, and said, "It's okay."

He also knew that it was too much of a stretch to ask Lucius to make breakfast. He had been reading all night and this morning he kept repeating that this was how Professor Slughorn did it. He couldn't be too demanding.

"Lucius, what's the latest news?" Voldemort asked as he continued to eat his oatmeal.

Lucius replied, "The Ministry of Magic has imprisoned all those caught during the Quidditch World Cup final in Azkaban, and many of them were your servants."

Voldemort said, "That's the Ministry's bait. Don't bother with them."

"And that Jack Smith, also a bait."

"You can place some traces around Jack Smith for the Ministry of Magic to see, so that they will think that your attention is still on him."

"Any news from Hogwarts?"

Lucius replied, "Master, Dumbledore has announced that the Triwizard Tournament will take place soon."

Voldemort nodded, and seeing that Lucius was a little hesitant, he asked, "Anything else?"

Lucius asked nervously, "Master, Crouch heard that there are rumors in Hogwarts recently that you and Charles Smith have a close relationship."

Although the news from Crouch was somewhat tactful, Lucius did not dare to ask Voldemort directly whether Charles was his son.

Voldemort said angrily, “That’s it?”

"How dare he contact you and risk being exposed for such a small matter?"

Lucius said immediately: "He may think this will help with that matter."

He made an agreement with Barty Crouch Jr. to have Crouch secretly help Draco and give him some money so that the boy would stop selling things from his aunt and uncle's house. The two families almost had a fight over this.

Voldemort thought of the child three years ago who had been killing people since he was a child, had no feelings about it, was quite interested in the dark arts, and allowed him to experience the thrill of teaching the Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

So Voldemort said, "Charles and I have a special relationship."

Lucius tried to remain calm.

Voldemort noticed that something was wrong with Lucius and asked, "What did Crouch do?"

Lucius replied nervously, "I asked Crouch to give 10,000 Galleons to Draco. Zabini sent a message that Charles Smith finally gave the money to Draco."

Voldemort knew about this, and Crouch reported it to him. Voldemort acquiesced, on the premise that Crouch would keep it confidential.

He said: "It is likely that Crouch used the Imperius Curse on Charles, which was a better cover."

"Tell Crouch not to get too close to Charles to avoid being discovered by Dumbledore."

"He should concentrate on doing his own thing, not do unnecessary things, and not worry about unnecessary things."
